    Broke down after 4 months

    Posted .

I guess it can still be fixed, the problem is - I'm tired of fixing it. First, I had to order a new printhead because the print quality had significantly dropped. Now, a paper feeder would not work. Do not be fooled by how Kodak advertises it's "cheapest ink", because of the printer's extremely high ink consumption you are gonna need to buy a lot of it

    kodak printer 2170 is awful!!!!!

    Posted .

We purchased this kodak printer about 18 months ago because we were told it uses less ink, that is not true. We had a canon previously while my husband worked insurance claims from 2004 thru 2007 and printed volumes of material. Also printed volumes of material for a 2 year court claim from 2009 thru 2011. We are going to buy another canon to replace this kodak because we run out of ink constantly and we are only printing personal items now. Don't buy a kodak!!!

    Ink Cost Less is Bogus

    Posted .

We have had this printer for almost 8 months now. We do not do a lot of printing. Our Canon printer we had for over 5 years quit, so with the huge advertising of low ink cost we decided to go with this Kodak 2170. We have had to replace both Black and Color 3 times since we have had it and sadly we have done less printing than we usually do. I replaced my Canon ink at worst case once a year. I also used HP at work and I printed all the time and maybe replaced the ink once a month or two. Do not go Kodak the ink is more expensive and the print quality is also lacking compared to other printers at the same price point.

    Expected better

So living in Kodak town and working for them and everything, wanted to throw some $$$ that way when I decided not to get more HP printheads as all I needed was to have a color printer for the kids to print 5 pages per week for schoolwork. Already have a B&W laser printer that does +600 pages per year on a $20 cartridge. First off, the Kodak software won't install unless it actually sees the printer. Which it did on one computer. The next one, it couldn't find it so could not even manually install the drivers. Had to take the laptop down to the printer can connect via usb vs WiFi. Next, after printing 15 color web pages and 30 B&W documents, all the ink was gone. Contacting Kodak to find out if the #30 carts. had the same amount of ink as the #10 starters (80%) was fruitless after may calls and email, just gave up as they kept changing the subject. Finally, the WiFi keeps dropping, thus needing a power cycle on the printer. Which then primes the ink, using it all up. However, the printer indicates that WiFi is connected (blue light and icons) but alas is not. The only help Kodak had was to factory reset and enter the settings again. No luck with that working out. That was the final straw, since the kids and wife need something they can rely on. Back it went. A Brother AIO now sits where the Kodak was, it maintains it's WiFi, has low cost ink and is very quiet.

Not a bad product, however it uses too much ink, even in draft mode.

    Don't buy this printer

Printer only worked for 2 weeks and then just quit. Called Kodak help number and after 50 minutes on the phone they told me printer was not good and would send a replacement. Replacement arrived and upon opening it found out it was not the same model..was less expensive one that did not have fax capability. Long story short....impossible solutions were offered. We returned the printer to Best Buy..thanks best buy.

Only good thing is price on the ink....

I got this printer as a gift and was very excited for the low ink cost. But then I tried to print photos and was appalled at the HORRIBLE print quality. I tried everything to fix it with no luck. Now my cheap ink is halfway out and still not one decent looking printed photo. Then the paper started jamming with every paper feed. Took over an hour to fix it only to find a small piece had broken off inside the feeder. Very low quality. Then today I tried printing a regular document only to get an error message that my printer cannot print document as shown. I'm glad I kept my old printer or I would never have a decent print again. I will have to use this one as my backup printer.

I purchased as a christmas gift. we have had nothing but troubles. It is not dependaple. The wifi always locks up and will hardly ever work wireless without tinkering with it for 5 minutes. Paper jamb is common with this one also. Best Buy offered NO solution. I dont reccomend Kodak or Best Buy and I am an easy person to please.

    Very Disappointing

    Posted .

I bought this printer in December 2011 and have used it an average of once a month, generally never printing more than a few pages at a time (mostly internet coupons). I noticed early on that the quality of the printer output wasn't that great. I also noticed that the ink cartridges did not last as long as I expected. The other annoyance is that if either the black or the color cartidge runs out, you cannot print at all until it is replaced. (In old printers I've had, if the color ran out, I could still print black and white). Finally, the paper would get jammed easily, whether it was one page in the feeder or multiple pages. The process of printing is quite loud. The final straw was a paper jam message even when there was no paper to be found anywhere in the printer. I was online with customer service, and they are sending me a replacement printer in the mail. However, I am not at all confident that the replacement will perform any better.

Biggest piece of junk ever!!! It has been non functional more than functional. Always something wrong with it. 3 Times I have had to call India to get replacement parts ,ONce they replaced the whole printer.. Is it too much to ask to print a document without the darn thing quitting on me!!! Thanks Kodak , now I am running to the store to buy a PRINTER not a pretender. Need to print some very important documents off.

    Great printer for home use.

This printer is of great quality. I recommend it for people who like an average speed all-in-one printer. I am satisfied with it because I'm not a person who is bothered by a 20 sec. copy of something.
