Printer is OK, not the greatest.

After reading some reviews I thought I would like this printer and I also had a recommendation from a guy I work with to get this one. I had some issues getting it setup. I set it up wirelessly with my desktop and laptop, it took a whole 5 or 10 minutes or so with no problems what so ever. But when trying to setup my laptop the software could not find the printer, so I coudlnt get it to finish the setup. I spent about 3 or so hours in an online chat with Kodak trying to finish the setup with no success. The last guy said I needed to do advance troubleshooting and to call tech support. So I did that and of course you couldnt barely understand the person because they barely speak English so I jsut hung up. I ended up going through the add printer wizard and got it setup on my own. Other than that I havent had any problems. I've printer a number of pictures and the quality is excellent. I do recommend to use at least the premium photo paper for big pictures. I use the Ultra since the paper is thicker and it holds the amount of ink better for photos. It's kinda noisy and slow but I think thats just because its a inkjet printer and not a laser printer. I dont think its any louder than a typical inkjet pritner so its not that big of a deal for me. Between the good quality and the cheaper cartridge replacements I can deal with the minor cons I listed. But if I had to do it over again I would probably find a laser printer with the same benefits, so for that reason I'm going to say that I dont recommend this pritner.

    Not Bad, But Avoid Wireless

Major detraction is the use of the Bonjour networking service for wireless network (I don't know if its required for wired networks). It works great as long as you let Bonjour openly communicate across the local network, as well as, the Internet, which concerns me as a vulnerability. I found out after buying the printer, in the Bonjour notes installed with the fat client (another detraction), that it isn't compatible with all virtual private networks. So if VPN use is also a requirement on your PC, beware of the potential compatibility issue. I am still trying to tweak firewall rules so that Bonjour doesn't broadcast over the Internet, yet will still locate the printer on the local area network. I like having access to the paper tray from the front, but it doesn't hold much and you have to remove any printouts from the output tray to refill the paper tray. Unlike my previous photo printer, I have not found a way to specify what type of paper is loaded in this Kodak -- plain paper, photo paper, or glossy photo paper. I have not yet tried to print a picture on the different types of paper to compare output to see if it makes a difference.

Prints fast, is a little loud, but what printer isn't?. Has tons of features for photo editing and was very easy to use/set up. For some reason I do have problems with the wireless set up but that I believe is due to having my fios in an apartment which... fios stinks. One thing I am not impressed with is the photo print quality. I have compaired photos taken with a 35mm camera and printed with kodak about 10yrs ago that look better then the prints I have made with this printer. I have called kodak to see if it might be a user error and I am missing a setting, but thus far they arent sure and told me to take it in for repairs. Overall I think its ok for the money

Graphic duplication is fantastic. Colors bright, Clarity outstanding. Installation as simple as popping in accompanying disc following step by step directions.and ready to use. Downfall, very noisy, and surprisingly lucky the replacement of ink is cheapest on market cause it ran out of ink before I knew it. I mean within a month. Compared to my HP which seemed to last forever.
