Great printer with AWFUL WiFi connectivity

    Posted .

Bought this printer a couple of weeks ago to replace an HP that was printing off-color. WiFi setup was a bit cumbersome but once I got it connected to my network the printer performed wonderfully. The colors are true, the ink is very inexpensive, and the speed is acceptably good. But...after a couple of days it sauddenly lost network connectivity. I couldn't even power cycle the printer, even though it was responding to all other front-panel controls. The power button would not respond to shut down the printer and the WiFi light was out. My first thought was that there had been a power glitch that had confused the printer, even though my Brother WiFi laser printer was having no problems at all. The only way I could reset the printer was to pull the power plug and plug it back in. Then it found my network, connected, and started working perfectly. However, this has now happened several times (about once every three days). A search on google (which I should have done before I bought the printer) found a number of complaints regarding exactly the same problem. Those people that have contacted Kodak regarding this problem have been told that they know nothing of the problem and have no idea why people are experiencing it. Personally I think Kodak is sidestepping a known issue that they can't figure out how to fix. Those people that have given up have stopped using the WFi and have connected the printer to their netwok with a cable. That seems to work perfectly. I bought this printer specifically for the WiFi capability. If I wanted to run another cable in my office, I would have saved the money and not bought a printer with WiFi capability. All this being said, other than the WiFi problem, this is a great printer that produces quality output.

Good printer, Bad Indian call center support

    Posted .

We finally bit the bullet and replaced our old Dell All-in-one dinosaur with this band new all-in-one printer. The scans are really clear. The print quality is excellent. The ability to network the printer via Wi-Fi or Ethernet is awesome. The install process was a little convoluted as the install software conflicted with the system settings on my Sony Vaio VGN-160G laptop. The software would just freeze without full install of the drivers. I spent over an hour on chat with Kodak's customer support. I gave them all the info initially to help troubleshoot the problem. They spent 15 minutes asking me for marketing info before getting down to fix my problem. Of course after changing my settings they tell me to restart the computer so I lose touch with the chat. Naturally on restart, the drivers still did not install. I had to spend another 45 minutes on my own monkeying around with settings to get the drivers to install. Kodak customer support is an epic fail just like Dell. Next time I know to ask before buying electronics, where is your technical support based out of? USA or India? But the printer/scanner now performs like a champ. I would only recommend this if you know your drivers will install first shot.

Excellent Quality Prints, Scans Better than HP!

    Posted .

i've been using a top-of-the-line (when i bought it) HP Photosmart for years, but it was time for a replacement. Read all the reviews on the Kodak, and let me say first off i have had absolutely NO network problems, which alot of people mentioned. It was very easy to set up w/my wireless network (just picked default during set-up, picked it right up) and it has been easy-peasy ever since. i use this mostly for my home-art business (printing business cards, greeting cards, and photo and web images that i use for jewelry) so i needed absolutely clear, high quality prints- which i was used to from the Photosmart. This printer met every expectation, very high quality prints, and perfectly clear scans- the HP scans were horrible. And of course it's so much more affordable ink-wise!! TOTALLY recommend it!

    Great Printer!

    Posted .

I purchased this printer a couple of weeks ago and I was a little wary after reading some of the reviews, but I have not been let down by this machine. It prints beautifully so I don't know about the one reviewer who has an issue with color matching, I just don't see that issue. Photos and documents look great! As far as ink usage goes we have done more photo printing since we received this printer then with our pervious HP and the ink levels are good and the printing quality is keeping up, no sign of the ink being used up to fast. I saw another review where someone claimed it did not print envelopes and that is just not true, I have done a number of envelops and well as card stock and other media aside form photo paper and run of the mill letter paper. There seem to be a number of reviewers who are having issues with the WiFi, I have not seen this issue, WiFI is rock solid and it has not dropped once on me. This printer as exceeded my expectations and with the recycling credit and sale price I paid less for this printer and a set of replacement ink (which I haven't even come close to needing) I paid less than I would if I had replaced the ink in my HP! Great printer, great value. I will never buy an HP again I am a kodak printer fan boy now! Thank you kodak for the amazing product.

    Best Printer I've owned

    Posted .

Over the last 20+ years I have purchased numerous HP printers, both home and Pro series. A few months ago I was listening to a popular radio show whose theme is 'your money'. The host mentioned that Kodak was coming out with printers marketed on a concept different from their competitor's "Gillette Marketing Model" of low up front purchase price and very "HIGH' replacement ink cartrage pricing. Remembering this when I recently had an issue with my HP printer, I looked into the Kodak line and decided to try it. What a good choice. I even found' after the purchase, that it was ready to go as a wireless network printer, just had to scan for my router. You can also use a highliter immediately after printing with ""NO"" smear-Don't try that on HP DeskJet printed jobs.

First BB review - long but thorough

    Posted .

Like several others reviewing this Kodak product, my review falls on the negative side. And like everyone else, I'm scouring the internet for amazing reviews on any all-in-one printer. Maybe we aren't asking the right questions, which should be: 1. How often is a firmware download? 2. How successful is that download per household? 3. How great is the company's customer service? I've owned the Kodak 7 AIO for just over a year, and it hasn't lived up to the hype. I've never experienced a paper jam, but the scanner doesn't work unless you go around your back to scratch your elbow. (What I mean is, you can't simply press the "Scan" button on the actual machine - you must go into your desktop and go through their Kodak Print/Scan "wizard") Wireless? Well, okay - in MY household, the Kodak only connected to wi-fi on the initial set-up. After Day Two of ownership, it neither recognized wireless nor other laptops in the house. It goes through black-ink cartridges like crazy! So much so, that I began buying in bulk just so I wouldn't have to make an emergency run to Walmart. I think I've purchased two color-ink cartridges in its entire ownership, though. And the AIO display shows you how much ink you have remaining. When it prints, the Kodak does take sixty seconds or more to spool. No joke. And it's noisy. I'm not sure if either is an issue for some people, but for me, I'm always intimidated that the noise will wake up family members if I hit "Print" late at night or early in the morning. That said - when it prints, it prints beautifully! Text, photos, normal paper, photo paper - the print quality is outstanding! I'd like to stay within the home-office budget (which is a Kodak AIO), but I do understand that you get what you pay for. This wasn't cheap. The firmware downloads are a hassle, to say the least. My printer is still on version 4.1 but as of January 2011, Kodak is up to v.6; however, my Kodak software tells me that I'm up-to-date and that there is nothing to download. Huh. When you Google Kodak downloads, there is a plethora of angry Kodak customers. I'm not angry. Just....disappointed. I won't recommend this a friend, only because I don't want said friend to turn around and say, "Really?!" For those of you who have already purchased it and are happy with it, I wish you the best. I'm still searching for a better all-in-one.

EXCELLENT, also a tip if you have an issue!

Okay, So I needed a cheap wireless ink printer. I found this! Wow the ink is cheap and the printer was on sale! So impressed. Easy scanning and copying. Has Memory Card Slots and a Camera USB port that you can use as storage over a network. This printer has a HUGE color ink cartridge and it lasts more for less! Has a nice screen, beautiful Kodak photos with KODACOLOR. *To add the printer on a wireless laptop you need to install the Kodak All-in-one (AiO) software. I noticed my CD came with Version 5.3, the latest version was 5.4 so make sure you get the latest version from Kodak's website instead. *THE FIRMWARE! I noticed everyone is having this issues that a firmware update fixes. If you have the latest software it will prompt you to upgrade. Mine had version 1.8, the latest was 3.1 so it updated quick and easy. Uses A lot of ink despite product claims

    Posted .

You'll be purchasing a lot more ink then you'd expect especially given Kodak's promotions that it uses less ink which is one of the reasons I purchased this printer. The printer is designed to use the color ink under all circumstances. I've been printing 100% black and white in low resolution draft mode but the color ink is being exhausted at the same rate as the black cartridge. This made no sense to me so I contacted Kodak and unfortunately this is the way the printer is designed to protect the print heads. So you'll be replacing color cartridges all the time even though your actual documents are pure black and white. Now if that makes sense to you purchase this printer if not look else where.

    Great Features and Affordable Ink

    Posted .

I bought this printer to replace my Ink Hog HP AIO printer. I have been very happy with the quality of the printer, its easy to use the wireless features and the most important feature, very good print quality and affordable replacement Ink cartriges. I love the feature of wireless sending of pictures to print from my iPhone, works great. Furthermore, I have put this printer thru the wringer and all functions work great. I have used the scan, copy and two sided printing many times with no problems. Bottom line, I am very happy with this printer and before I purchased this printer, I only had used HP printers for many years.

Exceeded my expectations - Definite Buy

    Posted .

I've traditionally stuck with HP printers over the past 20 years. I'm in the IT industry and stick with what works. I recently needed a wireless printer with no other frills. Just a simple wireless print and go. I started looking at price and found this printer but really didn't want the scanner/copy/picture features. One of the sales guys asked me why I didn't want the other features, especially if i could get them cheaper than a standard printer. I told him I was generally not happy with picture print quality and that scanning over a network just didn't seem to make sense as it would be very slow. He explained that Kodak inks are pigment based instead of dye based inks. This makes pictures more true to color and they tend to fade less over time. I've found this printer to exceed all expectations based on my past experiences. Kodak has done a perfect job so far in the making of this printer. The only real test left is time. What is it's designed lifespan and will it stand up? I still have HP printers from 20 years ago still printing. Overall I'd suggest anyone wanting a wireless printer that does pictures, printing, and copying (direct with computer off even), then this is a printer to strongly consider.

    No problems with my printer.

    Posted .

I purchased my Kodak ESP 7250 back in August when I took advantage of trading in my old printer and getting a discount on a new Kodak printer. Set up was extremely easy. I never have any issues with the wireless printing like I did with my old HP wireless printer. Overall the printer works great and the quality is descent. I have read many reviews regarding paper jams. I can't remember a time that I had a paper jam with this Kodak printer. If anything, it probably jammed on me only once, if that. Kodak is marketing their company to have cheaper ink than their competitors but I can honestly say that their ink lasts only 1/4 of my old HP printer. The ink issue would be my only complaint about this printer.

    I like it!

This is a great printer given you are not the type to nitpick bout every little thing. I can't complain. Printer was already on sale for $129, traded in my old junkie and got $30 back, got a a $25 reward zone certificate and I ended up paying around $80 tax included. Set-up was fairly easy. Wi-fi no problem. Print is Kodak quality. Can't compare with other printer aside from the old Epson 700i I still have and Lexmark 4550 I traded. Compare to those, this printer blows them away. Not a print nerd nor a photo printing junkie, this printer should satisfy the average family. If you don't want to blow your $$ away from expensive inks, then this is the printer for you.

    An Awsome Printer

    Posted .

Where has this printer been hiding ? After owning several makes of printers and with My HP sucking ink and producing poor results I decided to roll the dice on this Kodak and I must say the ease of set up is amazing the wireless connection was a snap! Being an avid Photographer I can tell you the Color Rendering is Dead on! and the web printing is accurate in color and sharp the printer is far less noisey than My HP's' Cannons or Epsons and as I stated the Photo Realism and sharpness are mind blowing when printing Pictures be it 8x10 5x7 or 4x3 you will not be dissapointed it rivals lab quality with a tweak If You are Looking for a printer that won't gulp ink but not sacrifice quality and easy to use this is the one and the software is precise and easy to use without all the Bloat of other manufacturers software is smart and simple a definite winner

    Excelent Printer!!!!

    Posted .

I just got this printer today and this is what I can tell you so far. the printer is packaged very well. Be careful when removing from the box. It is in there pretty tight. The setup is very simple. There is a lot of tape to remove though. After you have the printer in place then you can run the setup. I connected mine to the usb cable for the initial install. I inserted the disk and followed the prompts. It located the printer and setup was a breeze. I inserted a memory card to test the printing functions out. I inserted a 4x6 sheet into the top bin. Browsing the pictures on the lcd goes pretty fast. There is not a lot wait time switching through pictures. I printed out 4x6 picture and it took 1 min 4 seconds from the time I hit the start button. The picture quality is excellent. The colors are very vibrant. I was to connect to my wireless network without any problems. I was also able to connect to the printer wireless from my Apple MacBook.I was also able to print from my iPhone. the printout was nothing great but I expected that with my 3g iPhone. I just ran the software and followed the instructions on how to add it. I am able to print from my mac with no problem. All in All I am very happy with this printer...

Printer produces quality prints for lower costs

    Posted .

We purchased a Kodak ESP 7250 printer in May, 2010, and liked it so well that we purchased a second one in December. These printers were purchased for use in an Etsy graphic art business. The need was for a printer that would produce quality color prints and was accurate as to the colors rendered in Photoshop and GraphicConverter. We also hoped to be free of frequent replacement of expensive ink cartridges. This printer has measured up. The printer cannot handle heavy card stock but does fine with the 74 lb. paper that we use most often. Our costs for ink cartridges has been cut in half and the quality of the color has been superior to all printers we have used in the past. We use a laser printer for all our black and white text printing. The printer was easy to set up and is easy to use as a scanner and copier. The machine also does an excellent job as a scanner and copier. We have not made use of the camera interface and memory card options.

    Software PIG

    Posted .

I was attracted to this printer because of the low in cost and Kodaks reputation. It does a nice job of printing. I haven't used it for photos yet but then again I don't print many of these and don't mind sending them to a pro if I'm going to frame something etc... What I can't stand and was hoping to get away from is all the garbage software just to use this printer. That and Quality issues is what I was trying to get away from ditching my HP all in one. At least it installed easliy on my Vista Laptop, and my Windows 7 Netbook. But My XP computer that my daughter works on for homework wouldn't install. And my corporate work Laptop will allow me to add a driver but not rediculously large software. All in all I won't return this but I'm sick of Hardware Manufacuters trying to "help" me by adding software that I don't see any value in using. I also don't neeed Printer software help me do social networkng etc... I consider this intrusive and a tremndous wate of time and space.. Not to metion all the CPU hogging agents that are Installed on my machines. I just wish they would release a simple driver.

    Great printer!! Highly recommended!!

    Posted .

I upgraded my Kodak 3250 printer to this new Kodak 7250 printer and I love i! Setup was easy. Wi Fi setup was a breeze. It took me about 45 mins to totally install everything because I had to upgrade the KODAK AiO Home Center software but I had no problems. My computer is a iMac. Once the software was upgraded, it went through configuring the new printer and I was printing in no time. The printing is much faster than my 3250 and the quality is superb. I love the double-sided feature. I've had the printer for a week now and have printed many documents of black and white and also colored prints. I've have had no printer jam problems as is stated in other post. I can also print card stock. Someone posted that they couldn't. I had no problems. I do not print photos, so I cannot comment on that feature. I like that fact that the printer head is replaceable. Let's face it. It will wear out and it will eventually need replacing. It's better than replacing the entire printer. The printer head was not replaceable on the 3250 model. I highly recommend this printer for printing documents.

    WiFi connection slow

    Posted .

Pretty good printer, especially for the price I paid after I turned in my old one and got $50 off. look to see if Best Buy is still offering that deal. Wifi seems real slow but my route is in another room and the bars for strength do show it's not at full strength. Decent pictures. Cannot get my ink refilled at Walgreens, costco, etc. Can only buy new cartridges but cking online for other options, Software was a pain to install and it's not very intuitive.

good but wifi is touchy with 2 computers

    Posted .

I'm mixed on this unit. It is faster than my older 5300 series with good picture and document quality. I like that it's wifi but it's touchy. My windows7 laptop works great with the wifi everytime, my XP netbook works one time than messes the whole system up. I have to unplug and restart the unit for anything to work. I'll just use the windows7 unit with it for now on.

Where is the wifi print from smart phone feature??

    Posted .

All in all this printer is a great deal with inexpensive ink and better that good print quality. HOWEVER, the box and item description says you can print from your smart phone via wifi and this IS NOT TRUE..... yet... or so Kodak tells me. If you have a BlackBerry their "engineers are working on it" and have been for the LAST THREE MONTHS since I bought the thing. If you are in a hurry to be able to do this buy a different printer!
