    Great working wireless printer

    Posted .

I've owned this now for about 2 months and am very happy with it. Wireless was very easy to set up and the documents I've printed look very crisp and the color is great. I mainly use this for school documents and scans. Printer is little loud, but I think worth it for the ink cost. I'm not sure how long the ink lasts, but the price of ink for Kodak printers was the main reason I purchased this one. I had a canon MP500 before this and that printer ran through ink incredibly fast and the price of ink costs about $40 more for each time I had to refill them than this new Kodak will cost. So I would definitely recommend this to someone who is looking to do printing on a nice printer, but doesn't want to pay the exorbitant price for ink from HP and Canon.

    Best Choice in its Class

I bought this printer for home use, where I use it mainly to scan checks for my online banking and occasionally print something like travel itineraries or receipts from online purchases. I was attracted by the low ink cost, but have been quite pleased with the setup and scanning. If it would allow me to print from my iPad I would consider it perfect for my needs. It does do Google cloud printing, whatever that is (not very well documented or explained in the Kodak literature).

    Great printer at great price.

As far as printers go, though there is much to analyze in terms of quality, when you're shopping in the lower price end, you're not really looking for a pro quality printer. With that said, this Kodak Hero 5.1 really delivers as promised. It's great at printing decent quality photo's and prints documents just fine. The wireless feature is really what drived me to get it, I have enough wires. The con's would be how loud and slow it is. I may be used to office printers that are near silent, or at least whose noise is cancelled by the white noise of an office environment, but this printer proved to be obnoxiously noisy and rather slow to print, compared to printer speeds of today. Take that for what it's worth. At this price range, it may be something you have to deal with or be okay with. All in all this is a functional printer but note it does not have fax capability, something i thought I was getting. That's more my fault for buying it on impulse from a black friday sale.

Looking forward to low ink replacement cost.

The main reason I replaced my printer was to have wireless printing for my iPad. Did not know the "Cloud" is Microsoft's domain! Apple has a different system and now I will have to find an app to allow me to use this printer! Mistakes like these are a part of old age!

So far in the short time I have had the all in one printer I have been extremely satisfied. It took a little time to get the software installed but since then there has been no problem. The Kodak personnel were very helpful when neeed.

    DON'T BOTHER with this Kodak

    Posted .

I thought I'd done very thorough research before purchasing the Kodak Hero 5.1. But after only owning it for 6-8 months, the ONLY good thing I can say about it is that the double sided printing works like a charm - when the printer WORKS at all. It's a good thing that Kodak makes cheap ink (which is very low quality, btw), because this thing chews through ink like it's water. I usually spend half of my black ink cartridges just cleaning printheads and calibrating (and recalibrating) the stupid thing just to get a solid print. Oh, and if you need something to be BLACK, don't use this printer. I've never gotten a quality black even when it was brand new out of the box. Now, I'm happy if I get a washed out grey. I usually try to be positive about products I buy. If I don't have anything nice to say, I don't say anything at all. But people have got to be warned about this printer. Don't waste your time on a Kodak. Go to a company who actually knows how to make one that works!

    Best Printer By Far

Amazing that Best Buy took Kodak Printers off the shelf and so then one can only purchase online like I did. I would definately put to the test the Kodak Printers up against HP, Brother, Lexmark, etc. Great Firmware

    Decent printer

My Kodak printer is okay, but it is very slow, if you don't use the highest quality setting, the printing isn't acceptible. I am somewhat disappointed with this device. It also jams very easily. Poor quality.

    Stayed with Kodak

This is my third Kodak printer. Previously I've had Canon, HP and Panasonic. Kodak is in my opinion the best for the money. The ink is the cheapest and when used with Kodak photo paper, the photos print beautifully.

    Don't Do It

    Posted .

This was actually my second Kodak printer. They are loud and slow, but the ink is so cheap. I purchased this one to print from my iPad. I downloaded the recommended apps. Nothing. I have a nephew who is a computer programmer and he could not get it to work. Another nephew has all of his Microsoft certifications. Still nothing. Now after six months of ownership, it won't print. I have been in constant contact with Kodak. It has been over a month without a printer. It took them over two weeks to send a part, and it still will not print. Don't put yourself through this.
