I absolutely loved this printer for what little time it worked. The quality of the print was great, it was fast, and easy to set up. Then the problems started. Error message after error message - there is no way to disable the sleep mode so if I needed to print I always had to go into the room down my hallway to wake it up. Then it just decided not to respond - so I decided to turn it off, wait a few minutes and then back on - well it won't come back on. The power light is lit, the battery light is green, but the printer will no longer power on and display in the LED screen. I've walked through each of the suggestions on the support page of their website to no avail. I also wanted to be able to print from my iPhone and iPad but the app is only for pictures - not helpful for me. I am now looking at other printers - such as Brother - for a better option in printing. Aggravated that I spent money on the Kodak printer and can't use it.

So far no problems with this printer. I had no difficulties with the WiFi setup; however I did not attempt to use the WPS option. I have a Verizon FiOS router and it has the SSID and WEP code printed on the underside of the case, so setup was simple. I do not even know if it supports WPS. The setup process on the installation disk takes a while to check for the latest updates, but it gets there eventually, although at times it seems to have gone to sleep. Be patient.. After the setup installation is complete, you have to go to All Programs and select the Kodak directory, then run the Kodak Printer Setup Utility. One thing I noticed is that in duplex printing, you need a wider than usual margin at the top and bottom of the page to allow the mechanism to hold on to the the edge of the paper and pull it back in to turn it over. It does, however warn you that you are attempting to print outside the margins. If you can't afford the extra margin, you just have to print one side at a time.

I bought the Kodak Office Hero 6.1 to replace my last printer that I had for about six years, an all-in-one, but a different brand. I had seen some things mentioned in other reviews that might be problematic or annoying, but I realized this is a much newer printer and it could not be worse than what I had been using. I was right. It is better than what I had been using, and since it does everything I need it to, I'm pretty happy with it. I'm also pretty happy about the lower cost ink cartridges! I paid the same dollar amount that I had paid for my printer six years ago, but the ink will be less expensive. The only "problem" I have found is that sometimes what prints is gibberish. If I print a credit card bill, sometimes all the fields are filled in with letters and characters. Sometimes the first page prints out OK, and the rest are gibberish. I have to reset the printer settings to English and reprint the document. I have not looked up how to troubleshoot this, but I'm sure it will be fairly easy once I have the time.

    Excellent SOHO printer

Works great for a home or home office. Does everything a SOHO needs in a printer. Easy to set up following on-screen instructions. It's a little bigger than I would expect, so make sure it will fit in the volume you have available. I've seen some complaints about the printer claiming it was out of color ink even though it was only out of black, but I have not found that to be true. Love the inexpensive genuine ink cartridges! I also like the cloud integration; in particular, when I scan documents, I always have the printer email them to me. Overall, I am very satisfied with this printer. For the money, you can't beat it. In my opinion, it beats out the higher printers in the Hero line (7.1, 9.1).

I've been wanting to buy a color multi-function laser printer, but the prices remain quite high. Walking through Best Buy, my husband and I saw a stack of these printers and -- though I've never been a fan of ink-jet -- I made an impulse decision to buy this, perhaps mostly out of nostalgia for our struggling home-town Kodak brand. Very glad I did! It works great for school/business/general printing -- and makes a fantastic color print on photo paper. Haven't had to change ink yet, so don't know how that will go, but I have purchased replacement ink already and the price for that isn't bad either.

Honestly, I have no issues to report. It's a solid product and the ink seems to last longer than most printers I've used in the past. Cloud printing works well too. If I had to mention a downside to this product, I would say that the document feeder shouldn't be used for scans. But the printer software wanrs you of that and gives you the option to proceed. No big deal for me. I can take a couple extra seconds to lift the cover and place whatever I want scanned on the scanner bed. By the by, I use this for both documents and photos. It is so good at printing photos.

My first Kodak ceased functioning after only 6 months. I figured this was a freak occurance. Selected a new Kodak, Officehero 6.1 under my extended warrantee plan because I already had replacement ink cartridges stocked up. Installation and Initial set-up: Both the original machine and the new one required Kodak technical assistance to get operational. The print quality is very good but the speed is slow. This printer seems to do a lot of "ka-chunk, ka-chunk" during the print cycle. The Kodak OfficeHero 6.1 is a good printer but you can't be in a hurry. The low price replacement ink cartridges are a big plus !

I've only had this printer for a short while, but so far so good. Not sure why people had issues setting it up, took me all of 15 minutes to set up all three of my computers and my phone. Might want to download the software vs using the install disk as they are always out of date. Bought this to replace an old all in one HP and to print both my kids presentations for school (both graphic/photo intensive) and it performed great. Not the fastest printer out there but not slow by any means (i am strictly wireless, not hooked up to any computers). Also sent a fax and recieved without any problems.

My past three printers have been HP's. Evey one of them I owned always had connection problems. I will never own another HP after owning a Kodak printer. The major thing I love about this printer is it does not need the computer at all to operate. The second best feature is the Google Cloud Print. You can email straight to the printer from anywhere. I would highly recommend this printer to anyone.

It was Christmas last year. I was printing off our family news letter. Our Kodak EP series printer ate, skipped, and skewed huge numbers of the letters. It was infuriating. The ink price and sale price of this printer made me give Kodak another try (okay, I am originally from near Rochester, NY and have an inbread loyalty to the company that put food on our table). What a difference! And when it printed both sides at the same time, I thought I was in heaven. There are still better out there. But, with the price of the ink, this one will do just fine.

I bough this printer because i wanted a wireless printer to print from our I-phones. Though i have not figured out how to do this yet. I was not impressed with the wireless connections we have 3 laptops and I ended up calling Kodak so they could set up my printer to computer to be able to print wirelessly. It was easy to put together and fast just not impressed with the wireless printing. I also print a ton of coupons and i am having issues printing coupons from certain sites. Overall a good buy for the money .

    Best printer I've ever had

I had an easy time setting up wireless. It makes clear, solid copies, and when I did a photo, it turned out to be the best photo copy I've ever gotten from a printer. I had an HP printer before and the photo paper used to jam. I don't have that problem with the Hero. It is user friendly with clearly labeled buttons. The paper holder is easy to access, and the fact that it holds 200 sheets is a big plus. I highly recommend this printer.

After 6 hours of trying, 4 hrs on the phone with 2 different kodak techs, the wifi still refuses to work. They had me uninstall my anti-virus program and made a mess of my settings. I had to restore my i5 computer and tech support wanted to continue a second day! I only wanted a wireless printer, not an endless headache. What a nightmare! You've been warned!

Best Ink Jet printer i've ever owned!

    Posted
    willieby

I was mainly purchasing this printer because I had read that it was decent quality and the least expensive as far as ink cartridge costs. For me I've been very frustrated with the cost of ink jet cartridges for any printer I've owned. This printer has awesome features and is the best value I've ever experienced as far as not only cost of operation but ease of use for scanning and wireless connectivity. Totally satisfied Kodak Customer!

This is the 3rd printer I have had by Kodak in the past 3 years. I stick to this brand because the ink is much cheaper than the rest, although the downside is they make a new version of this one each year. I had bought the warranty on it so I suggest you do the same or else I would NEVER have been able to get another one when the others had issues. Other than that this is not a bad choice!

Was fairly easy to set up. Print quality is very nice and fairly easy to use. After 1 month the power light would come on but the LCD would not display. After 1 hour with moron Kodak support-they said we could send it in for a free replacement. Our local best buy said just bring it in! So I'll be trying the new one later. Expecting good results. Print from smartphones, e-mail, print/scan wirelessly even from the cloud. Great features.

My daughter had to set it up for me, and she is pretty tech savvy. It took FOREVER to download the set up info. Then the actual set up was long, drawn out & VERY VERY complicated. She was frustrated & said that I would have never been able to do so on my own - much unlike my previous HP printer. On the upside, the print quality is excellent as is the speed. One must get past the very complicated set up to appreciate its features.

It is fast. To Setup, to print, to scan, to use features. WiFi makes it easy to pick a central location without cables just power. software easy to use install and added features are a plus for the price. Keeps track of your usage, so you know if your getting value. You need a USB cable to set it up but only temporarily. If you don't have a WiFi network this makes it worth getting.

Perfect for a multi function printer, scanner, fax, and copy machine. The only one I could find that scans multiple pictures at once and creates separate files or combines them into one. When scanning old pictures, it's color correction is the best and simplest of any software I've ever used including Photoshop. Also Kodak claims they have the cheapest ink.
