    Very nice foldable headphones

    Posted .

I was looking for a good around the ear pair of headphones that would give me great sound, comfort and portability. Being sound quality and comfort my main criteria, I tried different ones like Sennheisr, Shure and Philips. They were all either too big, or uncomfortable when using it for several hours. I decided to give it a try to these and so far a keeper. I am not a musician, but consider having good sense of sound quality. These offer pretty good clarity in the high levels and good bass in the lows. I live the ability of folding and adjusting them in several ways. They are very lightweight and comfortable. I use them for as long as 8 hours straight. The ear cups are rounded, which is not the best design for the ear shape and the cushioning is a little thin giving some discomfort at the beginning, but after a couple days I have actually adapted and enjoy them now. As for durability and quality, they feel pretty solid with metal and plastic construction. I was told by two different best buy employees that these had to be replaced several times at their stores demos because they broke easy, but then just think about how some customers abuse products... I just got the replacement plan with them and forgot about any future issues. I also love the coiled cord and overall look of them. I would definitely recommend these instead of any skullcandy or similar headphones.

    Best headphone under $150

    Posted .

I liked the new UR-55 so much that I upgraded to these and the sound quality is similar. These have a bit more clarity in the details and maybe a tad less bass, but it's better quality bass. DJ style headphones are usually a poor fit for me, but these are perfect. The earpads looks uncomfortable, but they're actually are! After hours of use, your ears won't get sweaty as easily. The only negative is that these are not a good match for straight out of a portable player. They sound good out of one, but please don't judge them without a cheap portable amp. I haven't experienced such a cheap pair of headphones that benefited so much from an amp before. The difference is like night and day and these are only 38 ohms! Previously I was using the Audio Technica M50's, but those have been retired and I prefer these. They may even be better then my old Shure SRH-840s which are some amazing headphones for the price! The best things about these headphones are the bass, comfort and price. It has very few negatives. If you like the old Porta Pros i'd give the UR-55s a try. Those are best for portables. A step up from the UR-55s are these, which sound even better for only $30 more.

    Fantastic sound under $100.

I originally bought these to use with my Numark NS7 on the recommendation of a Musical Instruments specialist. He said they were "the best value of any headphone under $100," and after using them for about a year, I completely agree. I'd used the Sennheiser HD 280s before this, and while they sounded incredible, they were simply too heavy on my head to use while DJing. These guys are lightweight with an amazing frequency response that I'd expect out of headphones that cost around $150-$200. They don't have the kick of headphones such as the Beats, but the sound reproduction, is, in my opinion, more realistic. The only reason I docked this a star was because my first unit, after about 6 months of careful use, decided to start cutting out in one ear. I returned them under manufacturer's warranty for another pair, and so far they're working out great. For the money, I'd very much recommend these.

    My New Favorite Pair

    Posted .

I've had these headphones for about a week. Right out of the box I was not convinced to keep these, but I had to let my ears adjust to the headphone's EQ levels after using the Bass/High happy JVC flats. After my ears got used to these headphones it was like stepping into audio heaven. The stereo separation and sound-stage on these earphones are fantastic. With these, I've heard things in the mix I missed with my old UR55's. I also previously owned the HD206 from Sennheiser, those headphones had more bass, and the highs were not rolled off as much as it is with these. With that said, the bass is unique on these headphones, you almost have to try to feel it in your head as opposed to actively trying to hear it. What I mean by that is, the bass in these headphones is precise and almost subtle so bass boomers look elsewhere. For outside use, I have read that these phones are at their best when they have a portable headphone amp driving them. I have not tested this theory yet but I can tell you coming straight out of my computer, or out of a M-Audio Fast Track Pro they sound lovely. As for comfort, I can not say anything bad about them. I have worn these headphones for as much as 6 hours straight with little or no ear fatigue from either the audio or the fit. The one complaint I have about these is the fact that they do not isolate sound very well. The aforementioned subtle bass is quickly overwhelmed by outside ambiance, but that is nothing a little bass boost on the EQ can't handle. I bought these while they were on sale for $50 and it was a steal, but at $80 if I had to buy them again I'd look elsewhere first but I definitely would NOT rule these out.

    Good Headphones

    Posted .

I bought these to play with my new Roland VDrum set. These headphones are marketed as DJ headphones so I thought they would be perfect. The sound is clear but no sound is distinct. I personally like a lower-end sound (bass, kick drum, rhythm guitar). They are not marketed as noice-cancelling but they worked pretty well on a 3 hour plane flight. Don't be discouraged as you may prefer a sound different than me. Hope this helps.

    Great performance for the price

    Posted .

After reading a lot about different headphones at a price point above these I found many people recommending the Koss Pro DJ100 headphones. Having a great experience with Koss PortaPro headphones in the past, I decided to give these a try. These are worth every penny and I would probably pay more than what they are asking. Mids and treble are good and not in your face, bass is clean and punchy. I've listened to rock/alternative, electronic (downtempo and dubstep), as well as hip hop on these and have been very impressed. While these headphones have DJ in the name and have some DJ features like the cups that swivel and a switch for stereo/mono, they would be great for any music lover. While they did sound ok right out of the box, after some burn in time they got much better. This is a common phenomena with headphones it seems. Just leave them playing music on shuffle from a good source overnight for a few nights and you will see what I mean. I have a large head so they were a bit uncomfortable at first (too tight) but after some time they loosened up enough to be snug but no longer uncomfortable. If you are using a cheap/small MP3 player you may want to look into a portable amp but they should be fine from an iPod touch or Zune. I use them mostly at my desk connected to a PC.

    Great for producing, not DJ'ing

    Posted .

These cans should be renamed Pro100's or something similar because, although the mids & highs are crystal clear, the generally flat bass response is more appropriate for music production rather than live DJ'ing. Having tried these guys out in both situations, I quickly realized that the bass levels (especially kick drums) are somewhat masked in a noisy environment, which made it difficult to mix properly. That said, my first track produced with these cans came out crystal clear and well balanced (compared to the usual results with my 15-year old pair of Sony MDR-7506's!). Build is sturdy, and contrary to some reviews, the comfort level is quite good compared to some headphones I've used. Overall these are good phones, but not for the demographic they were intended for.

    Smoothed-over monitoring phone

    Posted .

My intended purpose for these: semi-portable/work headphones. Sound: analytical, in the vein of Sony V6, but a bit smoother. Close to zero bass bloat which creates less impactful sound but gives a lot of detail down below (to my ears). Highs can be a bit piercing. These headphones do not have a very wide soundstage but still sound airier than most earbuds. My Kindle, smartphone and an HP desktop onboard soundcard don't have any trouble driving these. Sound is a bit better out of an amp. Sound isolation: they leak very little, but allow quite a bit of ouside noise in. Comfort: they clamp too strong out of the box, but the headband can be stretched somewhat for a better fit. Earpads are small and shallow (even more so than V6), it takes a bit of effort to tuck ears in and the earpads are touching - not very comfortable. The cord is tightly coiled and pulls my head to one side unless I clamp it with enough slack in the part of the cable going to the earpiece.

    Decent, but not for me

Decent headset, but having a few other pair, I felt these were at best average. Great fit and really light weight headset, but I didn't get wowed by the sound. Took them back and replaced with a Pioneer set.

    Fantastic!

I just returned a pair of ifrog vertex headphones because of poor sound quality, and luckily, i found these! every complaint i had about the vortex set has been remedied with this exchange - the mids and highs are crystal clear, and the bass. while not as pronounced was with the vertex, the bass is actually much deeper and cleaner. The construction of these headphones is very sturdy and gives them an overall feel of quality and precission. I've only been wearing these for a few hours, but so far, they are very comfortable! (and did i mention that they look great?)

I'm a rookie disc jockey and I'm starting to learn how to operate to make a music, how to scratch, the repeat and stuff like that. Friend of mine who himself is a DJ and he recommend me to get a very good quality headphone, he had a Pioneer which is I can't afford so Koss will do. I tried them out at Best Buy store before I purchase them. It was amazing, I can hear every effect depth of it sound. Price don't hurt me at all. Headset are comfortable. Overall is great. Thank you Koss.

    Good for receiver, very durable.

    Posted .

In the first test, using a THX Sound Blaster USB, did not like. Then I tested on my Sansui RZ-5200AV receiver connected to an E-MU 0404. So yeah, I could see how much this phone is good. The bass is very present, very defined mids and highs. The structure of the phone is excellent, durable. It insulates well outside noises and has a lot of pressure.

    great sound, not constructed well

    Posted .

The first set of these was broken in the box. I got another set and was able to listen to them. I really liked the sound, but the construction is poor. The parts that look like metal are plastic, and they are constructed so there are weak points that are likely to break. If you're careful and like the DJ style these are good phones.

    Amazing Sound, suitable bass!!!

    Posted .

When I burned in the DJ100 for 1h, and then listened with different types of songs, I decide to return the Sennheiser HD202. That is the first time that I do not want to take off my headset until I get tired. You can hear any sound with this headphone and the sound is very clear. The bass is not very strong, is very comfortable and suitable, so I can listen more longer. Just try it also for the price is 59$.

    Worth buying

    Posted .

Voices are clean and clear but bass is not the focus on these. They feel great for a while but after an hour of wearing they start to pinch. I like the flexibility of them. You can swivel them around to wear one one ear or two. Aver all they are a good buy if your doing video work or playing games.

    Hurts my ears

    Posted .

Sound is good, bass is nothing great, but then again I am using a cellphone to push. Lots of good ambient blocking. I am returning them today (my first full day trying to use them) because they just flat cause ear pain after about 20 minutes. I think this is because of a lack of an ear-shape and a not-very-deep ear pocket. Ouch, my left ear is killing me.

    Didn't like them, I'm sorry.

I was so excited to get these. I drove to bestbuy, picked up the awesome looking box, had the guy take off the security device, opened them up and they looked even better in person. I put them on and they sounded AMAZING! But they were sooooo uncomfortable. The padding is thin and scratchy I hated it. The headphone guy with beats around his neck at bestbuy asked to try them on after me ironically and he didn't like them either. That's my only complaint I guess. I love the sound quality and looks, but they have to be the slightest bit comfortable I mean common! Very disappointed I really wanted these headphones....
