An impressive story and a smart port

An impressive story and a smart port, with an unfortunately poor open world. Especially considering it originally came out in 2011, I was impressed that playing through LA Noire on the Nintendo Switch amazed me all over again. From the top-quality voice acting and the still-unmatched facial animations to the multi-layered crimes to solve, the parts that really matter work great on the Switch. The old-looking and empty open-world parts in between, not so much. Six years later, LA Noire is still a unique game. There are cops-and-robbers car chases and occasional gunfights, but most of it is a smartly paced, contemplative challenge that keeps you thinking. As a Los Angeles cop working in the 1940s, you’ll be sent to a weird and wonderful array of crime scenes where you find clues, interact with witnesses, and draw conclusions with a limited amount of hand-holding. I never thought I’d find myself interested in the forgery of pink slips until I met the diverse cast of suspects and witnesses involved in a grand theft auto scheme, and using the right pieces of evidence against each of them presented a test of its own. A few of the 21 cases are a little repetitive, but every time I was close to feeling bored, something completely unexpected would happen and draw me back in again.

This is an excellent port of a wonderful game from the last generation of consoles. LA Noire runs great on the Switch and is a joy to play on the go. The episodic nature of the game's lengthy story is ideal to play in small bursts throughout your day on the Switch's portable screen. The game also features touch controls when in portable mode (one of the few Switch games so far to do so). Highly recommended for those who have never played it before. Mildly recommended if you have already played the Xbox 360 or PS3 versions.

Good Port for Switch, Make Sure you Have Space

I have a 64 Gig microSD card for my Switch and I'm lucky I do because this game, even with the cartridge, takes up around 15 gigs of space. That's about half the storage the Switch comes with, so you might want to pick up a microSD card like I did. Regardless, this is a fun and stunning port of a quality game. I can't believe we have XBox 360/PS3 games that can now run on a Nintendo Handheld.

This games voice acting and facial animations are like no other. Good graphics, great voice acting, lots of content and best of all you can play it anywhere.

Great graphics, fun controls, solving crimes, investigating crime scenes and it’s all portable on the switch. It’s wonderful! Just know that you will need to have a micro sd card installed because their is a 14gb download required.

Played some of this on PS3 back then, wasn't really into the game then. Decided to give it another chance on Switch and it's pretty fun. Graphics seem PS3-ish quality some quirks graphically in this game, some jaggies. Reading faces to see if someone is guilty or innocent is pretty cool. Looking forward to finishing the game this time on the Switch. Like the portability factor, but one thing is the text is pretty small un docked FYI. A little dark also, need to check if there is a brightness slider. Overall I'm looking forward to playing more.

When the game originally came out, I always thought it was interesting, but never ended up buying it. Then when I saw it coming out on the new consoles, including the switch, I was excited to pick it up and give it a try. I've been spending around an hour before bed every night playing, and it works fantastic as a portable game! Honestly hard to believe how well this game runs! Highly recommend.

I think this is a great game to have 'remastered' for the Switch. It just shows that the console can handle some heavier graphic-power (...not to the level of PS4 Pro or XBOX One, etc) while still retaining the capability of playing in either portable or console. Great game...love the interrogation parts too. Let's hope GTAV comes out eventually for Switch! :)

    Fun, challenging but also boring

I like the game a lot. There are a lot of excellent side missions that allow you to chase after bad guys and shoot various guns. At the same time, driving the car is both boring and super challenging. Apparently driving in the 1950's is way different than today (look at the traffic lights and how the cars react). There seems to be no way to keep the car's siren running, which can lead to accidents and city damage (which hurts your performance rating on the case). The game is extremely violent and graphic, think twice before you let your teenager play this. With that said, it's fun to play and the interview portion of the game is a real challenge.

This is a great port of LA Noire. Neither graphics nor gameplay has been sacrificed porting this to the Switch. Only really downside is the sizeable mandatory download which you need an external SD card for. Other than that. Awesome!

This game on the Nintendo Switch pays great and looks very great. Specially when watching at the face expressions. This game is great to solve a crime case and put down. But the open world is not populated with tons of things to do. But it's a great port.

LA Noire has been completely overhauled with HD graphics and the portability of playing this on the Nintendo Switch is fantastic. Older title but plays like new on the Switch.

I never played the game before on its original consoles, but the experience and intriguing story drag me in, is amazing how a game so complex can run on such a small device.

LA Noire was a great game back when it was originally released on the Xbox 360. I spent many hours beating this game a couple of times over. I picked up this game for the nostalgia and have enjoyed it. This is Rockstars first step into the Nintendo and Switch universe and I hope it is not it's last. For the price ($50 MSRP) I feel it's worth it. If you can find it cheaper, absolutely grab it. Kid friendly, not so much, but as an adult this is a great addition to this father's Switch collection.

I love this game. I bought it on PS3. I was excited it was coming to the switch so I picked it up. I didn't realize how much memory it ate up, 14GB!!!! So I actually returned it. I will be getting this on the PS4 as memory isn't really an issue on the PS4 as it is on the switch. Memory is a hot commodity on the switch so I don't need it being ate up, just aimlessly. I wasn't thinking about it first when I bought it, but it will make me think about my future switch purchases going forward. I love that the switch is getting more titles and mature type titles, but they are going to have to solve the memory/storage issue.

People looking for an action-packed game like other Rockstar tittles may be turned off L.A. Noire, but fans of games with a great athmosphere, charm, witts and good story will certainly be entertained. Plays great on the go, and the motion controls are intuitive enough. Looks best when played on Noire (Black and White) mode.

My husband bought this game for me for Christmas and it is one of my new favorite games. I have been putting a lot of time into this game and I thought that it was going to be short and I would be finished with it, but I was wrong. There are a lot of cases to solve each time you get promoted. If you are a fan of Nancy Drew, you will love this game so much more.

Still a great game with touch capability. I played LA Noire when it was released on the PS3. Now that it's ported to the Switch, I could play it on the go. If you're new to LA Noire, you'll enjoy it if you love solving crimes and an open world gameplay.
