Odd, Innacurate Weather, Temperature OKPosted .No, I would not recommend this to a friend
The unit evidently must be set up on a router, and if you have a switch attached to the router for a remote location, the connection WeatherDirect-switch-router will not set up. The setup is easy, and once in a while needs to be repeated as the connection gets occasionally lost (3 times in 3 months). The weather forcasts evidently come from a subsidiary or contractee of LaCrosse Technologies. They are sometimes blatently absurd, at least for my area which neighbors a US Weather Service Station. This morning, it said that the high/low for the day would be 27F and 5F. The outdoor temp early was near 20F, the predicted highs by several online services are arund 27F, and the predicted lows for the day will all be in the range of 13F to 16F (at midnight tonight). Strange things like this crop up and draw attention. I tend to pay little attention to this unit anymore and revert to my usual internet weather sites or to TV or my NOAA weather radio. It did not live up to my expectation to eliminate theneed topower on the computer to get a good forecast.

Junk is too good a descriptionPosted .No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Buying this is like throwing your money out the window. You have to register it online for it to work and that may happen once in 30 attempts, if your lucky. Once registered it lost its connection within three days and then good luck trying to get it registered again. When it was receiving weather info it was very inaccurate, so much so that it was useless. Stay away from this item it's not worth the money.

Works As AdvertisedPosted .I would recommend this to a friend
The instructions for setting up the gateway are a little vague. Once the gateway is registered the rest is a snap. It updates every 6 hours and I found the forcasts accurate for my area. The only issue I have is there is now way to stop the forcast scrolling to just show the outdoot temp.
