Performs like a low price unit

I would recommend this unit if they run a nice sale on it or as a beginner kit if you have a science or weather loving youngster in the family. The good...it comes with everything you need (minus batteries), including plenty of "cables" for connection. It might not be terribly accurate but parts of it do seem to work. It's easy enough to use. It arrived quickly. The "cables" are actually standard phone cord so you can add an extension if you need it longer but I wouldn't want to do it since it isn't terribly accurate even without running longer cords. The bad...like I said, it isn't terribly accurate compared to the reading at the local county airport which is about 6 miles away. An hour after setting everything up it had already rained 83 inches (according to my new weather station). The outdoor temp sensor is VERY slow to respond to changes so be sure to give it a few hours to catch up to the "real" temp, or at least get as close as it is going to. After an entire day which was a windy blustery day I have had wind speed readings of 0 every time it updated itself. I am using the cable method rather than the wireless since it is suppose to update much more frequently and I really wanted to see if I could get a reading on the wind speed...oddly enough it registers changes in wind direction but it has yet to record a wind speed and yes the little fan blade was spinning freely. The graphing software is a pain. The LCD display is much easier to see if you lay it down flat or get down on the floor and look up at it from below and that is with the highest contrast setting. Did I say it isn't very accurate? If you can afford a better unit go for it, if you want a low cost unit and not concerned about everything being real accurate, buy this one.

This is a winderful weather station. We purchased it a year ago, and couldn't be happier. It's completely wireless. We love all the features of showing indoor & outdoor temps, rainfall, wind, humidity, and even dew point. It even has option to download the info into your computer, if you really want to track the weather like my husband. It's a great station for the price!
