    Great for fast speed storage

I've owned this for about a month or so and it's been working amazing for video editing. I edit my videos directly off of this drive and have no problems with speed throttling. If I had a faster PC, I'm sure I would though haha. Highly recommend for those who are looking for USB 3.1 type c drives. If you're not specifically looking for a type c drive though, go look for something cheaper haha. This thing gets hot within like 10 minutes of active use though so make sure you keep it in an open, ventilated position.

Great price! When you buy a laptop you paying for the speed and the storage space. Why pay more than $200 dollars for a laptop with the same speed and only has an additional 128 GB of storage when you can spend less than $100 dollars for 1TB of storage. Also this product can act as a backup, it has enough storage to back up 2 or 3 laptops in your house. So when upgrade your laptop or your laptop finally crashes or breaks, you never have to worry about losing your data. It also comes with all the require cables to connect to your laptop or MacBook.

Again, not much to report here. Lacie is the brand Apple sells in its stores and that gives it a bit more credibility in my mind than some other brands. This is the second one I've bought since I love its elegant design, its ultra compact size and the fact that the Silver Moon shade matches my iMac and my wife's MacBook Air perfectly. We use them as a Time Machine backups and they work perfectly (and ultra-quietly) as they should. What's not to love?

Took two tries to get it to work. The first time I dragged everything onto the Lacie. The second time I used it, a toolkit popped up and said it would not sync. I worked with it a bit and it still wouldn't sync. . So the third time I plugged it in, the toolkit opened, and I walked away. When I came back, it had synced. So I guess the trick is to give it time. Now that It’s working, I back up my files every day. With other external hard drive’s, I would back things up once every 2 to 3 months.

Recommended by her film and media teacher but BB ran out of the ones with the orange outter layer. This is the next best thing. It's compact and veryyyyyy simple to use. I go through computers like I'm from the stone age and I'm a pack rap/hoarder, without being a tree killer, so i save Everything.

Additional things needed to use with Time Machine

I used this for an External HDD for Time Machine for my Mac. Sadly it doesn't work right out of the box as it needs to be reformatted. So just remember this if you need to use it for Time Machine. The device is all metal which is great and it isn't too heavy. In all it is a must have for not a bad price.

    Good Basic Backup Storage Device

I needed a fast solution for my quickly dying laptop so I wouldn't lose all the data on my hard drive. I opted for this device because all I wanted was to save a copy of my drive to transfer to a new computer and keep a backup copy for myself. I admit I chose the LaCie primarily for looks and for its decently low price, and it wasn't too hard to figure out how to use it. However, I found the User's Manual to lack instruction on transferring data from the LaCie onto another device; it was fairly clear about backing up the current laptop on a regular schedule and using the Restore function to restore a failed drive. I figured it out, but it just wasn't intuitive. I also didn't find a way to select specific files for saving/transferring; it seems to want to back up everything regardless of preference. But I haven't used it very long, and maybe if I revisit the Toolkit that comes with it, I'll find my answers.

This is a godsend for creatives that need more storage but can’t shell out the big bucks on the bigger drives. This is amazing I’ve had it for almost a year now and love it! I’m a photographer so I’m always running through memory, it is a bit slow at times when transferring bigger files but it’s usually quick to backup anything. This is great for photos first or assets NOT VIDEO FILES. If you don’t mind having mediocre speed while transferring video files then no worries but for professionals who need fast speeds don’t get this for video. On the other hand if you just need to backup your computer to get some more space than this is also amazing!

    works with xbox series x

I got this for my xbox series x. I'd read you can play previous gen games from a usb 3.1 external hard drive. I tested it and it works. The only very slight negative is the included usb c to a cable is only about a foot long, but that's pretty standard so I'm not faulting them for that. The drive wasn't being recognized on the front usb port on the series x, but the light wasn't coming on so I figured that one was underpowered, which happens on computers. I hooked it up to one of the rear usb ports and it worked fine. I transferred a few games to it and I am able to play them from the drive. It's great to have an extra TB of space. Very happy so far.

Decent portable HD. Nice design and finish, which complements any mac well. Do yourself a favor and don't use the cables that come with it (lost a star) almost broke my brand new laptop' port, because it should have but didn't fit. Otherwise very nice.
