It was useful
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was useful in that it transferred my my programs from my old computer to my new computer. For thee most part I did not have to find my licence codes ,but I did have to find some of them. I also ended up having orphan files to clean up. IT was worth the money for what it did, but in the future I think I will just load the programs on the new computer myself so I will not have to spend the time cleaning up old/orphan files.

Not as easy as it should have been
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It did what it was designed to do, but getting there wasn't exactly an easy process. First, there wasn't a software license key included in the packaging. So went to their online chat, and after 20 minutes or so of "oh, it has to be there somewhere" they finally believed me and generated one for me. Got it installed, and then my computers couldn't find each other on the WIFI. Went to their special chat for transfer problems, and their tech got that fixed and got the transfer started. Then, about 10 minutes into it, got a "network problem" error. Followed the steps, and didn't fix it. So canceled, put both laptops in the same room as the router, and let it run overnight. Same result. Was about to give up and buy one of their USB cables, when I found the option for using an external hard drive. Did that, and it finally ran the way it was supposed to. Was it worth it? Yes, as I HATE having to reconfigure and reinstall all my programs. But not as good as it should have been.

Saved lots of time and data
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Went from laptop to tower. Used this program to transfer programs and data. It was very helpful in doing that. Saved days on ITunes alone. However, there isn't an easy way to prevent some programs or data from transferring, e.g. old virus protection.

It does what it says it will do--move files.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm not an expert on PC transfer kits. I only used this once, since I only had one PC to transfer. Also, I've never used a PC transfer kit before. That being said, once I got it set up it did what the package promised--moved my files and programs from my old Windows XP PC to my new Windows 7 machine. Installing the program wasn't hard, but it was finicky. I got it to install on the first try, but it did require a number of steps first on one PC and then the other and I had to read the instructions carefully. The kit comes with an ethernet cable to connect the old PC and the new one directly. Once everything was installed I only had to start the transfer and wait. The transfer took about 8 hours; this may have been due to my old PC being much slower than the new one. The results were very satisfactory, but they weren't perfect. PCmover transferred my web browser and favorites, but the passwords for many sites didn't make the transition. The same is true for programs that require a serial number for validation. Likely this is due to those sites' and programs' security setup; I don't think this is a flaw in the transfer kit, just something to be aware of. All in all, PCmover isn't perfect, but it saved me a lot of work and it was worth buying.

Move everything from old to new computer
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works as good as it says it will. So easy to use. Was able to bring everything (files, videos, pictures, and APPLICATIONS) from old laptop to new laptop. Very easy set up. Was so happy the applications transferred; especially the very old ones that I no longer had original disks for. Very impressive and good price.

Perfect for transferring and setting up new laptop
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Used this to migrate everything from an old laptop to a new one. It did the job effortlessly. All of my personal settings came over, including the picture for my desktop. The only drawback is that I wanted to use the cable to do the transfer. However, the cable that came with it was ethernet. The new laptop does not have an ethernet port. Did the transfer via WiFi, which took longer. Via WiFi, I let it run overnight while there was no other traffic on the network.

Worked well after initial hiccup
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought a similar product years ago when I bought my last pc and it worked essentially the same. Initial setup was easy with step by step instructions, but it didn't recognize both computers at first. Second time it worked. Took quite a while to transfer files and settings but I was expecting this. Worth the price.

Better than alternatives but not perfect
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased to transfer data and programs from an old computer to a newly purchased computer. It did a very good job with data. While it did transfer some programs not all were usable even though the the final report indicated they they transferred. I had connectivity problems using the supplied ethernet cable.

Easy to use
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy interface to use, easy to install and operate, the only down side was that it took over 8 hours to do the transfer, and the time to completion estimate at one point did not move in over an hour. But having said that it did what it said i would do, and for that I am grateful so four stars.

Beware Using This With a Hybrid SSD/HDD Configurat
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.PCmover gets the job done at an exceptionally reasonable price, but for me it was neither easy nor flawless because of how the technology has changed recently. If you need to move the contents from, say, a 1T hard disk drive Windows 10 computer to a new Windows 10 machine running on a 1T or 2T HDD, just follow the instructions very carefully and you'll probably be fine. However, I had to transfer from a Windows 10 1T HDD to a new hybrid computer with a 256GB solid state drive and a 1T hard disk. Unfortunately, PCmover tries to put everything on the 256GB drive, which is the C drive. The bigger hard disk is for data. The OS, desktop, pictures, etc., land there by default. I eventually got the job done, but in the process lost functionality on a couple of older programs. This may have been a 32bit vs 64bit issue, but I don't know for sure. I figured out how to move most data files to the D hard disk, but it wasn't easy, and I have to be careful because the C drive is very full. My recommendation: if you're migrating from a hard disk to a hybrid configuration, hire the Geek Squad to do it for you.

Great Item, Saved Loads of Time
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Most of the programs transfered over and other needed to be reinstalled over the top again, saved lots of time from an older 7 year old Windows 10 computer to a new Lightning fast Windows 10 computer, did the transfer over network with no issues connecting to each computer, will purchase again if needed.

Easy way to install new computer!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been dreading the install of my new computer. All the software, settings, let alone data. How to get it all in the right place. This made it really easy! And in the end, it told me what it was not able to move so I could do something about it manually. Not easy software to find, but great.

Does Not Transfer All Apps
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The published description made me believe I would be able to transfer ALL apps like Corel Draw from my old computer to my new computer. That is false. There were other apps such as Microsoft Office that would not transfer either. If you have an external drive, you can transfer music, photos and other files.
