My whole experience with this software was a nightmare, with one exception, the service I recieved from my local Best Buy emoloyees was excellent, I do not remember their names but they searched high and low to find the 1 box of this program they have left.
I am fairly tech savvy but I was unfamiliar with this program so I read the instructions looked at their website and followed the on screen instructions. It seems pretty straight froward except I think they make you have to call their tech support so tech support can up sale you. I was trying to transfer one laptop programs to a new laptop that was clean. everything went smoothly until the transfer. Tried numerous times, finally called tech support which is advertised on the website and the box as FREE. It is anything but free unless you get upset. I ended up getting angry with them on the phone because they kept telling me that the old computer would have registry files that are not "clean" DUH it is a 10 year old computer, if it didn't I would be amazed! To make a long story short, they got on and ran a "test" to which the "untrained" eye would have said "oooo they know what their doing" and in fact it was no different than a CTRL + ALT + DELETE, just through a different way of doing it. Overall the call turned into me asking them who i need to get paid for my time for having to call tech support which was supposed to be FREE and then taking over an hour and a half to fix my problem, they ended up running a .exe file and guess what it magically worked after that!!!!! (this is the reason I believe they force you to call tech support).
Also after the transfer was done, my important information, that i originally bought the program for, was not transferred, but guess what showed up, games like candy crush saga, and their equivelent soda game, as well as a bunch of other BS.
DO NOT BUY THIS PROGRAM!!!!! there are much better ways of transferring files, I wanted to be lazy and fairly cheap so this is the route i went and it ended up being more complicated than just using a good ol fashioned USB drive and transferring manually.
BEST BUY PLEASE FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR CUSTOMERS STOP SELLING THIS GARBAGE PROGRAM!!!
the only reason I did not rerturn it is because it is software that I intentionally purchased and the staff at the location gave me excellent service.

We are basically computer-illiterate, so we had to have our son do this for us. We bought a new desktop computer and wanted to transfer everything, including software programs, from Windows 7 to the new pc, which has Windows 10. Our old PC had over 1,000 mp3s, many pictures, software programs were Word, Excel, etc.; WordPerfect, TurboTax. All our files were transferred over. It did take quite a while because we had years of stuff to transfer, but we didn't have any problems with it. At first I couldn't find my files, but it turns out that they were saved somewhere in "The Cloud", and we were able to retrieve them.

Great program. Made setting up my new computer very easy. It not only moves files but also moves programs. I imagine it saved me hours in trying to find original CDs.

Used PCmover about 1 month ago.
After about 90 mins of prep, took about 3 hours to “move” from 5yr old, not eligible for upgrade Lenovo Win10 All-in-One PC to a new HP Win11 All-in-One using the included network cable. A few older programs were not movable but of the others, all the data and settings moved without any problems detected so far.

My computer build project hit a bit of a snag so I have not had a chance to use this yet. Reviews from other sites are favorable and Best Buy had it on sale for a reasonable price so I purchased it.

Although I found this program very easy to install, I had to install it twice because it put files in my new Windows 8 OS into places I don't think they were intended to go. I tried to find pictures and other files and they just weren't where they were supposed to be on the new OS. So I reset the new computer and re-transferred my data with the same outcome. Ultimately, I had to take my computer to Best Buy where I bought it and pay the extra money to have them transfer the data. This time it worked so I am convinced the PC Mover was the problem. I would be wary of using it when going from Windows 7 to Windows 8!

PC Mover worked great. No problems and was easy to use. Safe Erase was difficult because we had to rehookup old computer to network to register the product so the software would work.

Been using this since XP was replaced years ago. it was the only product I came across that would more both data and programs to the new system - no matter if it's on the same machine or a different one. used it on dozens of machines at work, home, and for others. Zero issues. much faster then reloading all the programs and if you can't find your old disks, a lot cheaper.

Purchased to migrate Win 7 to Win 8.1.
Allowed me to migrate the entire Adobe Master Collection, CAD programs, Windows programs, settings, email, etc., without having to re-install anything.
Instructions could be better at identifying needless transfer items and it may take more than one try to get the migration perfect. Can be run more than once if you reverse the migration and do not shut down PCMover or the computers. LapLink will reset your license if you need to restart and their support is excellent.
This is time consuming and not for the uninitiated, but well worth the time and effort - a must have.

Wanted to move all the settings and programs from an 8.1 system to a 10 system. After struggling with it I called support. I also decided to purchase the 14 day advanced support for $99. The best thing I could have done.
The techs basically did everything for me and followed up afterwards to ensure my programs were working as in the case of my Office Suite...I got that up and running thanks to the tech...
For those of you not computer savvy and just want "things to work" I highly re commend this product and the basic advanced tech package.

PCMover moves programs to a new computer very well but it would be difficult for a novice to use without the technicians who help with the process. The multi-step process can bring surprises. For example, it is not clear what must be done when two computers have different versions of the same operating system. Or, when limited disc capacity on the destination computer requires selective exclusion of programs or folders, the way PCMover displays folder structure can be confusing. With the understanding that the process is time-consuming and may require being on the phone with a technician or receiving remote access assistance, PCMover is a good and inexpensive way to set up a new computer.
