Classic
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I always thought this was a great movie, but as far as the transfer on this blu ray edition it is just ok. Probably not worth upgrading if you own the DVD.

It's my mother's favorite film
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought in for the rare event my mom may come by. I watched it and found it insanely boring. Some nice scenic beauty, but no, not for me.

Not to bad
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Depected pretty close to the way wars fought back in those days. I personally thought. But slow moving. Beautiful outdoorsy scenery.

Not what I was hoping for
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Though in this case, the fault is mine for assuming. I had hoped this would contain both the original theatrical cut in addition to the extended directors version, which I don't care for as I prefer the pacing and run time of the original. The transfer is adequate and the sound is fine, as expected, but it would have been nice if this included both versions given there's plenty of room.

||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So So 4k transfer. Beautiful movie but it doesn't pop off the screen like I was hoping it would. The lack of HDR unfortunately keeps this film from pulling you in. Great picture but a bit flat.

Excellent Movie!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Can't believe this movie is finally being brought to Blue Ray. This is the best version of the James Fenimore Cooper's classic novel. The acting is superb and the action screens are incredible. Another great feature of the movie is the fantastic music score by Trevor Jones & composer Randy Edelman. It becomes as much of the movie as the film itself. I highly recommend buying the soundtrack also. Do yourself a favor and buy this film for the special women in your life its a true love story wrapped around the incredible historic events that make the up the first few years of the birth of our nation. This is a true classic motion picture, finally coming to High Definition Blue Ray...I can't wait.

A good movie, though not like the book
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Last of the Mohicans is an old-school adventure story about a white man named Hawkeye who lives in the indian world and comes to the aid of two white British women and their British soldier escort when they are threatened by an evil indian named Magua. The film loosely uses the story of the book. Parts of it are completely faithful, and in these scenes, it is a great pleasure to see James Fennimore Cooper's highly descriptive vision brought to life. However, the story has been altered significantly, partly to simplify it, but in ways that take away much of that original story's ambiguity and 19th century cultural repression, making this a good adventure tale, but not much more. The major gripe I have with this release is the fact that it is not anmorphic, meaning that it isn't optimized for 16:9 televisions. This means that the black bars are hardcoded as part of the picture and thus the picture looks stretched on this tv format. Also, the subtitles for the parts in indian languages are hardcoded onto the lower black bar, making it impossible for you to adjust your image to make the film fit your screen. Unfortuanately, since this is the best release of this film available, if you really want it, you'll have to cope. It is a worthy film, and I still recommend it. Just know that the technical aspects of it could be better.
