I’ve LOVED this movie for YEARS! So glad I was able to pick it up for a price I could afford. Watched it so many times since, can’t get enough of the story and the MUSIC! All performances were fabulous but it will rank as my absolute favorite role portrayed by Daniel Day-Lewis! The extra explaining all the prep work that went into his role served to augment one’s appreciation of his efforts. One of the very few movies produced in my adult lifetime I consider a treasure!!

One of my all-time favorite movies with one of my all-time favorite actors. However, and as many others have already pointed out, this DVD disgraces the story, the cast and the original movie. The soundtrack is so totally erratic, difficult to hear during passages of dialogue and then overwhelming during dramatic battle scenes, so that the viewer is required to constantly intercede w/volume control as the storyline progresses and/or use subtitles to understand conversation. Composition and lighting are often poor making it difficult to follow the action onscreen. The original dramatic Clannad soundtrack which complements the sweeping beauty and spectacle of the natural setting has suffered on this video as well. It is just a shame that a better effort was not made to bring this literary classic to life as a DVD & Blu-ray.

Great movie. If you do not own it pick up the Blu-ray version. Oldie but goodie.
