This is perfect for people who want the sound of a fan without the breeze.

The first thing you notice when you open this is the quality of the build. It is a small unit but feels solid. It has rubber feet that grip. The power cord is usb and comes with a small phone-like charger for power. This also means if you travel with one of those backup battery chargers, this unit works with that too. Two sound machines, then a fan and now this. 10 fan sounds and 10 white noise sounds. The fan sounds are so realistic it’s easy to confuse with the real thing. My favorite is the oscillating fan which truly sounds like its moving back and forth. The three buttons on the front of the unit are toggles. There is a power/timer, fan/white noise and the volume up/down. To set the timer, press the bottom of the power toggle for 60 minutes. Like coins in a parking meter, each additional press gives you 60 additional minutes. Each press of either the fan or white noise toggle cycles through each of the variations for each type. When you reach the beginning, it makes a whooping signal. The most important thing about a sound machine is of course the sound and this little gem doesn’t disappoint. The volume range should cover most if not all needs and gets plenty loud enough. The part that impresses me is the fan sounds. You can hear the motor and the fan blade sounds. The unit remembers your choices as long as it has power. It is also small enough to travel with however, when it loses power it resets to defaults for sound and volume. Also, when you first plug it in, it turns on but this is a user option which can be changed. I definitely recommend this sound machine for anyone who sleeps with a partner that snores or in my case, uses a CPAP for sleep.

I have never used a sound machine before, so I have nothing to compare this one to, but it is definitely easy to use. There is an on/off button, a volume control button, and 1 button for all the different sounds. One side of the sound button cycles through 10 fan sounds (each time you push it) and the other side has 10 different white noises. This isn't a sound machine that has the sound of rain or the ocean- just white noise. Personally I prefer to sleep in complete silence, but when that isn't possible this device does a good job of blocking out sound. I can't hear the annoying sound from the garage anymore. You can play this device all night or set it to shut off after 60 minutes. I wouldn't use this during the day since I prefer music, but I can see how this would be good for tight work quarters in a relatively quiet environment. The only thing I found this device to be lacking is some way to keep track of the sounds. The differences between the different sounds is very subtle, but I definitely prefer some over others. It would be helpful if there were numbers and lights that lit up by the number of each sound each time I pushed the button. This way I could quickly go straight to sound 5 instead of listening carefully for the sound that's a little more like a vacuum than TV static.

It would be good if it had other sound choices on it.

I prefer white noise or fan noise rather than oceans or forest sounds when I sleep so I prefer this one to many others out there on the market. There are about 10 different choices of fan sounds and white noise each. Fans range from ventilation, industrial, house, air purifier, oscillating fan and a few others. The white noise starts at a low frequency and gradually moves through higher frequencies. I love that it has a timer as well so it's just being used to get to sleep and isn't on all night. The large speaker is the entire top of the machine and can be VERY loud with little to no distortion. The speaker is great! All in all it's an awesome sound machine!

This little fan machine packs quite a punch for it's size. Nice and compact, yet very effective. I use it on the white noise setting which is very soothing. The fan setting sounds exactly like a big fan and can be set at low, high and everywhere in between, white noise is also adjustable . It is very small making it easy to use while traveling. I do plan to take it while traveling, can see a great benefit with the white noise setting in these situations. I can see where it would be a benefit to anyone who has barking dogs in the neighborhood at night, could do a good job of masking or blocking the sound so you can sleep.

Like other machines of this type, the Lectrofan does a good job blocking outside noises - or, when placed outside your door, of keeping others from hearing you. It has a variety of settings, most of which control the frequency range of the noise. The biggest advantage, though, is its size. It's small and powered by a USB connection, which means it would be easy to take on a trip to mask noises from other rooms in a hotel. The only downside is that the device lacks an LED light to show what setting you're currently using. Such a light would also need an off button to help you sleep better, but it seems a simple change.

This product does what it says. It has 10 different fan sounds and 10 levels of white noise that sounds like blowing air at different pitches. Now, one of the reasons I tried this product was help mask the sound of drumming by my percussionist teen but how an industrial fan would sound better than that is beyond me. I found the fan sounds harsh no matter the volume level. I much preferred the white noise as long as it wasn't too high pitched. While it didn't eliminate loud noises, it did cover low level and background noise quite well. I easily went to sleep with it taking away all those night time noises that just seem to make me alert every time I'm almost asleep. I liked that you can set it for 60 minutes so that it isn't running all night. To give equal opportunity, my teen tried it as well and found the white noise harsh and preferred the sound of the fans. So, this is definitely a personal preference situation. It works as advertised and if you are looking for something that will mask background noise, this works fine as long as it is set up close enough as it doesn't help if it is behind a closed door. (Yes, we did check that!) All that said, I think it could be so much more and hope the company rethinks their choices of sounds. Rather than an industrial fan, the sound of a cat purring would do just as well but have the added effect of being uplifting. I can think of so many sounds like that which would be must better than different fans or high pitched white noise yet still get the job done. I received this product to try in exchange for an honest, unbiased opinion.

The Lectrofan has a good variety of fan sounds and white noise sounds. It is a nice size, so it will fit on your night stand, or wherever you want to put it, and it looks nice. The 60 minute timer is a nice feature, and all you have to do is click a button. I like that there aren't more buttons than necessary, but there are enough to make it functional. The fan noises calm me down, and make it so my room isn't completly silent (which I don't like). Overall the Lectrofan is a nice looking, well functioning fan noise/white noise machine, and it is good for it's purpose.
