Excellent if you don't already own a Steam Deck

This is a very nicely designed handheld. Before I start my my review, please note it is from a Steam Deck OLED 1TB owner's perspective. With that said... Pros: - Great ergonomics - feels awesome in the hands; comparable with Steam Deck except I prefer the symmetrical thumbsticks on the Steam Deck. To reach the right thumbstick my hand actually has to offset from full contact with the grip. The Steam Deck I can hold fully with no issues. I think one could eventually get used to the Legion Go over time though. - Great screen. Between this LCD and the Steam Deck OLED ... I couldn't really tell the difference in low light. But in brighter lights, the Steam Deck screen's anti-reflective coating wins hands down. By comparison, the Legion Go screen in the right angles can almost double as a mirror! Probably better to apply some kind of screen protector with anti-glare if expected to game a lot in brighter environments. Cons: - Trackpad - nigh unusable. Coming from a Steam Deck, it's puzzling why this is even there. Trying to use it like the Steam Deck track pads to move a mouse cursor is a futile effort. It doesn't move, then moves, then jumps too far; trying to move it back repeats the experience. Basically just no. - Performance out of the box; it's set to play games at its native resolution of 1080p, which basically negates any kind of improvement the Z1E chip is supposed to give over the Steam Deck APU. Quick tests for games such as Resident Evil 4 remake, Lies of P, and Warhammer Space Marine 2 did not produce any notable performance fps improvements over the Steam Deck that I had expected - maybe my expectations were too high? - Higher TDP made no difference that I could see (again no tweaks, just out of the box). I cranked it way up to 30W from 15W and *maybe* saw 1-2 fps improvement? Basically nothing. The bottleneck has got to be somewhere else I suppose, maybe some kind of memory bandwidth? Kind of a letdown if true, because then one would have paid for all this power for almost nothing. Neither pros nor cons, or just not enough info - I did end up getting really good performance vs. the Steam Deck but it took some tweaking. I installed LSFG and FSR4 plugins, and fixed the game resolution to 800p to match the Steam Deck and whoa, I was gaming at 100+ fps on Lies of P (Steam Deck could go from 80-90 with similar config). This is neither a pro nor a con because I felt if one was to spend the money for this but have to step down the native resolution, it's kind of a wash. But it's a way to get the performance for sure. - I read about other reports on battery life being particularly bad on this; but all my gaming sessions are very short, maybe 20 mins or so. Hence I didn't really have an issue on this one. All in all, if considering one of these at MSRP, I would probably advise one to get Steam Deck OLED (preferably a refurbished unit) for max value - install the LSFG and FSR4 plug ins and enjoy. If one could find an open box excellent for the price I got it, maybe an argument could be made if one isn't expected to try navigating SteamOS desktop mode with that unusable trackpad. Then it's also a great device. Hope this helps folks who are on the fence! If one already has a Steam Deck OLED, it's probably a good guess by now my advice would be to keep that and wait for more advancements like Intel's recently announced Panther-lake chips to make it into handhelds and see.

The legion go s with steam OS is a monster. I ordered both this and the steam deck oled 1tb and it was a no contest. Everyone talks about the oled screen but side by side I was barely able to tell the difference. The colors popped a little more on the SD but the biggie is the screen size difference on the legion just feels way more immersive. If you like triple A titles this is the way to go. I tested out GOW Ragnarok and GTA 5 enhanced and I was able to easily play them without stutter. It is absolutely amazing and almost shocking it is all running on the palm of my hands. Overall highly recommend. Just wished it brought a case. The fans also do get loud but is tolerable. Maybe if ur in a library or somewhere quiet would it be an issue. Besides that A+ product.

Owned about every current day handheld there is and this was the only one that fit my hands w/o any cramping due to slight carpal tunnel. Battery life could be better but this device ran any game I put it again easily (besides Ghostwire Tokyo where it wouldn't load at all). Airflow was amazing and kept it cool throughout playsession. Although for this being like a "upgrade" from the Steam Deck in a sense, the price leaves it hard to recommend especially with the Z2 Extreme chips coming out. If a Legion Go S 2 comes out or this one goes on sale, get it.

I purchased this in place of my older OLED SD, and I’ve enjoyed this a lot more. The screen size is perfect and the increased resolution definitely makes games look more detailed. If you are concerned by the fact it’s an IPS panel, don’t be, this is a high quality panel with a good refresh rate (120hz w/VRR vs 90hz on the SD OLED). The ergonomics are better than the SD as well. The additional graphics cores make a huge difference as well. You can also bump the power significantly higher if you run into a demanding game. If you are on the fence, I’d go for it.

5 Stars. I upgraded from a Steam Deck OLED. First the device is well built, the hand grips are comfortable even for someone with smaller hands. The offset joysticks feel more like an XBOX controller than the Steam Decks even ones. The screen is awesome, no it's not OLED but the VRR on it really shines. The Z1E processor is a game changer, I am running games at 45-60 fps that I could not run on the Steam Deck. The triggers and button are well built, they work smooth with minimal noise. Lastly the buying experience was great. I initially purchased the Win 11 version on my BB card. I decided to change my mind and cancelled the order. Within 30 mins my card was refunded and when I bought the SteamOS version it was less expensive and the pickup date never changed. Pick up at the store was quick and easy too.

The screen is pretty good and the sticks, bumpers, and triggers feel great, even if it is not very comfortable to hold overall. I love having a Steam OS option, but it was not carefully integrated. For example you have to use third party plugins to control the LEDs and they don't work right when switching to desktop mode. Biggest complaints are severely inadequate battery capacity, loud fan noise, completely useless trackpad, lack of a case, and the speakers aren't very great. I still use it over my steam deck but the steam deck is honestly a much better thought out and executed product in many ways. The only thing this really has over it is a higher resolution. But it feels more like trying to cram a computer into your hands in a rush than a console optimized for portable gaming.

This is the current best SteamOS device by far, the screen is excellent, the size is manageable, and the power of the Z1E is incredible without windows holding it back. All that said battery life is lackluster at best bad at worst and Lenovo makes a lot of poor design choices with their devices. Going into sleep mode leaves the power button flashing infinitely. You have to take off buttons and find hidden screws to change the storage or unplug certain elements to reach others. And it’s sooooo expensive. It’s a solid device that just has a ton of small issues that can really add up into big problems for some

This is an amazing device. I love steam os and with the z1e it rocks. I will say that the battery could be better so lower settings or plug in or a battery pack or else expect to only play an hour on triple A games. It’s like a steam deck on steroids and the 8 inch screen is nice but top notch quality. I just wish it had a larger battery and it would be five stars

Currently a Steam Deck OLED owner for almost two years. Been a very smooth & fun experience for me, was a primary console gamer. This was my first time seriously giving PC gaming a strong go. Decided on giving a good friend & his son a gift, SD OLED or Legion Go S w/SteamOS. Went with LeGo S for something different & I felt it was a decent bump up in specs. Just as smooth & very comfortable in the ergonomics. Weighs more then the SD OLED but well balanced in hand. Got a Dbrand Killswitch case for it, the owner(s) said it's a very comfortable case & appreciate the cover for minimal space in traveling. Fan noise can get going & track pad is almost useless. Pretty solid option, well worth looking into & finding a deal that suits...

GET IT. I had the original OG Lenovo Legion Go (LeGO) and I really liked it. But my issue with the OG LeGO was that it was really heavy and the ergonomics on it sucked (personally). and I found myself hardly gaming on it because it felt slows sometimes and it's annoying having to quit the game and then fully turning off the LeGo since windows wasn't the best experience for handheld gaming, in my opinion. HOWEVER, with the Legion Go S (LeGOS), I find myself using it all the time and gaming on it for extend period of times bare bones. The Software and User experience is unrivaled with SteamOS. STEAMOS I WANNA APOLOGIZE, I WASNT FAMILIAR WITH YOUR GAME!! It's so good to play a game, put it to sleep, and then youre back in the game exactly where u left off 3 days ago. Performance is amazing on this with the Z1 extreme as I'm playing HellDivers 2 (game installed on an SD card) and I put about 45-62 FPS on balanced settings (and I often play Helldivers connected to my monitor and see about the same performance!!). This thing is just a beast! Get it, You won't regret it unless you like other brands and Windows experience more.

This is my first high powered PC handheld and I love it! Steam OS makes it work right out of the box. The screen is amazing even though it isn’t OLED. Battery runs out a little quicker then I would like, however I’ve also been playing demanding games on performance mode. I am a working Dad of two and being able to jump in and out of games is a must. I’ve been looking for a more powerful steam deck and the legion go s is exactly that.

The device offers a comfortable user experience, particularly when connecting with PS5 controllers for gaming. The Legion Go S with SteamOS is a great handheld but I ultimately returned it because of SteamOS and compatibility with anti-cheat software. If you want to play games with anti-cheat you will need a windows handheld. Games without anti-cheat work well and honestly SteamOS is a better experience, it just didn't fit my needs. I ended up getting the MSI Claw 8 AI+ instead, performance wise the MSI is better but ergonomics the Legion was much better. If you want performance and compatibility go with the MSI Claw but if you want a more "comfortable" gaming experience and do not intend to play games with anti-cheat I would recommend the Legion Go S instead.

I purchased this gamin system with no hopes due to a lot of my games being very system intense. Well let me just tell you its probably the best gaming device i have ever purchased. It plays all my games with no lag and is fairly lightweight considering how big it is. I think it aits perfectly in your hands and the controls are very well made. I would 100% recommend this to my friends and family if they are wanting something a handheld gaming computer. It works just as good as my computer i spent over 2k on and now i play on this device all the time instead of my computer. I thought i was gonna regret it when i first purchased it, but If you have been thinking bout getting one buy it! You wont regret it.
