Ergonomics great . Screen great . Rest MID
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this version for the ergonomics . This handled Is powerful enough to run most games at most medium and some low settings with in depth tweaking . If you are happy with stable 25-30fps on some newer games then this will be fine . You can do all sorts of things to bump your frames up . Going to a lower resolution in the game is the easiest way . Lots of tinkering . I would wait for the extreme chip version if you want less adjustments and more ready to play out of the box .

Wow Lenovo!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m extremely concerned with these other reviews which makes me feel this product has been review bombed. The product out of the box worked amazingly with the latest install of windows, and upon looking at the other reviews none of which are true high cpu usage was apparent for the first 30 seconds-1 minute out of the box…it’s in the process of installing windows updates legion space, and Microsoft’s bloatware. After which this one single nuance performance was actually extremely good the OS felt snappy. The actual battery life in comparison was extremely good as well 2-3 hours on performance mode 4-6 on quiet mode what else could you ask for. After utilizing a rog ally x, rog ally, legion go, retroid pocket 5 I found myself always longing for the beautiful screen of the legion go. Did they make a mistake by removing the removable joycon like controllers maybe..but one of the complaints I had is I always found myself scrambling to re-attach them. This strikes a perfect balance between the rog ally non extreme and legion go. Which features from both the ergonomics alone feel leap years ahead of the previous devices. Will update this review once gaming benchmarks has been done but I’m extremely happy with the product. Is a 4/8 thread cpu skimp maybe but you have multiple options with steam os beta release coming in May this unit is a modified slightly updated steam deck lcd option.

Great handheld, just not for me.

Very good windows handheld
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It has the ability to be efficient and run well. Aside from legion space and the settings button not always working right away (not a terrible issue for me) i havent had any problems. Learning how to tweak options/graphics in each game to find the mid point between battery life, fps and graphic isn’t bad. Performance really depends on optimization of games for the operating system. So far I love my Legion go s!

Wait for a sale - but better than expected
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked this up because it was on-sale and I badly wanted the bigger screen - I figured I'd return it if it was as bad as people claim. Simply take, it's not bad at all, in fact it's pretty good - if overpriced at the full retail price. I own a Steam Deck, and an Asus Ally, and I even bought the first Legion Go at launch. I like the Steam Deck and Ally, but man, the 7" screen on those is starting to kill my eyes, and I just want a larger screen. The original Legion Go has an even bigger screen, but that thing was trash - terrible build quality, awful uncomfortable form factor, I couldn't return it fast enough. But this system, the Legion Go S, they got the screen size and form factor right - although it is thicker than I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong, it's a brute compared to the Ally, and it even makes the Steam Deck seem small - and while the Go S isn't the most comfortable system to hold it's worlds better than the original Go. As for the drama about the processor... I don't get it. Maybe there's been a big patch since it launched and now, but I simply have not had all the performance issues that people are claiming to have. In fact, in normal usage, I don't notice a big difference between it and the Ally. Yes, I know the outrage mob who never used either system will tell me I'm wrong - but I'm not - I got both systems side by side, and for use inside of Windows, they both perform well. Again, maybe there's been a big patch since launch that cleaned up the performance issues - or maybe I just have an IQ over 70 and know that you need to let Windows do all the background updating before you start using it on battery - in either case, Windows performance is good, and I assume the 32GB of RAM is a huge part of that (the Ally generally has 12GB available, I believe this one is 24GB available, accounting for what it loses in video memory). As for game performance, again, I was expecting a disaster based on reviews - and I'm just not seeing it. I tested it in Cyberpunk and while it's not as fast as the Ally, the Ally has to run maxed out which will kill the battery in less than hour, so I'm never running it with the power profile turned all the way up. Testing with the Go S in custom performance mode, maxed out wattage wise with the fans maxed, it performed a bit better than the 20W profile I'd generally use on the Ally (which got me around 1hr 10m of battery). The Go S is using a lot more power to make that happen, but also has a much bigger battery, so you end up getting over 1hr 30m or so. While the battery life on the Go S isn't great, regardless of profile being used, it's again not quite as bad as I was expecting, and much better than the Ally - and I'd say it's generally on-par with the 1st gen Steam Deck, maybe slightly worse. Another negative of the Go S is the awful Lenovo software - they are worlds behind Asus. Half the time the stupid Lenovo software just stops working, and you need to reboot the system to get it to work around. That's ridiculous to screw up something that bad - and it reminded me of why I returned the original Legion Go to some degree (although to be fair it's worlds better than the original Go software). I won't hold this too much against it as I assume they'll get it patched up shortly. As for running Windows, that's a selling point, not a con as it gives me access to Steam obviously, but also Epic and most importantly GamePass (which is why I had the Ally). Also people remember that you can just run Steam in big picture mode in Windows, and you really don't even need to deal with Windows if you do that. Maybe once the SteamOS release comes out I'll load it up just to try it out since I'm a nerd, but really the flexibility of Windows is a huge plus. Additionally I can justify the purchase of this because of that 32GB of RAM - just plug in a USB C hub to this and you can absolutely use it as a desktop PC. I have mine setup as an emergency PC for work, so if my main PC went down, I could still get things done. Overall I really really like the bigger screen, but it's a hard sell at full price - but it's already gone on sale meaning it will do so again. That makes it worth checking out in my opinion. BUT, if I absolutely did not want Windows at all - I'd probably get a Steam Deck OLED, the screen is smaller (7.4" vs 8.0") but it's more comfortable to hold, gets much better battery life, and performance is in the same ballpark (lower, but with better battery). Also if your eyes aren't going on you and you don't have any issues with the 7" screen, the Ally X would be hard to pass up, in particular if it's on sale. But note that there is a very large size difference between the Ally and the Go S, much more than you'd think from the 1" screen size difference (in part because the Ally is 16:9 while the Go S is 16:10 - again you will notice the different, which is a plus for the Go S since it gives you more height and makes it seem even larger).

Amazing ergonomics & screen, horrible performance
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking forward to this device so much! I currently have a Legion Go but that device does not have good ergonomics even with added comfort grips to be able to game for a long duration. This device though! I can hold it forever. It is thee most comfortable windows handheld I have ever had and I’ve had Rog Ally, Legion Go, Rog Ally x, and a Logitech G cloud. The screen is also amazing and I think 8” is the perfect sweet spot between great screen real estate and portability of the device. The issue is with the performance and Lenovos legion software. When attempting to access the quick settings to change TDP it sometimes takes 3-5 seconds for it to launch. Launching applications on the device sometimes take a while to launch and I think this is related to the device only having 4 CPUs. The CPU utilization is usually at 80-90% without me even running a game which is crazy. I am going to return this but will be on the lookout for if they release a Z1E that has more CPUs because this fork factor is the best on the market but for the price I can’t have such bad performance. I’ll be on the lookout for sales as well.

Disappointed
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this as was very excited for it. It was delivered yesterday on release date which i was very happy with. When I opened the box, that is where the disappointment began. The system looked beautiful however, there was no carrying case. I should have looked to see if it came with one but i mean for this price why not include one? Instead there is a piece of cardboard that you can convert into a stand. Awesome. That aside i was like well let see how the performance is. First downloading the other gaming platforms was somewhat difficult due to all the updates that i had to go through. The Steam app never downloaded for me and i have no idea why. The xbox app did download for me and the system came with 3 months of pc pass which was awesome. I downloaded Call of Duty because that is one of my main games. I could not get past the Activision screen due to difficulties with the on screen keyboard. This system is just not very user friendly. The system feels somewhat cheap for how much this thing cost. I am going to give the aystem one more try but most likely will be returning it and either getting a steamdeck or waiting for the SteamOs system that Lenovo will be coming out with. Its going to be cheaper and easier to use.

A very comfortable and sleek handheld
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Legion Go S is not as bad as the reviews would lead you to believe. It’s not as powerful as the original Legion Go, but if you play lots of indie games or games that a couple years old then you would be happy with this. It performs way better with Steam OS or Bazzite than it does with Windows. The screen is amazing and the handheld is extremely comfortable to hold. The only issue is the Z2 Go chip. It’s not as fast as the Z1 Extreme on the original Go, but it has more ram and it’s way more comfortable to hold the the original Go. If you get this on sale or for the open box price it’s worth it.

Feels great, But cant Perform
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very disappointed with the performance of this device. Its a shame because it feels great in the hands. Buttons are nice and tactile and the triggers are really nice. The screen also checks off alot of boxes. Thats all though. AMD’s “Cost Effective” Measures of rebranding 6800U Hardware and calling it new is shameful and misleading. The APU hardware is almost 3 years old being outpaced by the STEAM DECK. LET ME SAY THAT AGAIN. A THREE YEAR OLD DEVICE PERFORMS BETTER. that’s embarrassing. This was a weak attempt by AMD to use lenovo to clear old chips they had lying around not making money. Dont make them money by buying this. Wait for the handheld they should have released in the first place. The Legion Go 2

Almost great!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very comfortable handheld and the screen is really nice with rich colors. I got mine open box and the price was more reasonable for the performance this offers currently. I like the extra Ram and games do take advantage of it but I wish the CPU was a little stronger. The Steam Deck has been out for a while now and it clearly shows in benchmarks that its weak 4 core cpu is not good for many recent games. I wish Lenovo had given this 6 cores for more future proofing.

Almost perfect
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great console. Dont pay attention to all the negative reviews. Have realistic expectations of what a handheld can do. With some tinkering it will run most demanding games. The benefits to running windows is you can run whatever software you want. Comfort wise hands down an upgrade over the original. This console works best as a secondary on the "go" to your main PC or regular console

Its great!!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start off saying this is a great handheld PC device. Now if you’re looking for something to play AAA games at high fps you need to spend like $1000. I’ve been able to playing most games without any problems. If you know how to tweak the power consumption you will be able to play most at 60 fps . If you’re looking for something for retro games, this will definitely will handle all the way to swtich games Nintendo switch . I actually like this better than the original go because if you detach the controller too much they get wobbl . The original Legion go is huge and very uncomfortable (pause). The Legion go s just feels way better than the original. Not to mention the streaming is great no problems streaming from my high-performance PC or PSN or Xbox. I think a lot of people are upset with the original price of 729 which I would definitely never pay for this one. However, at the current price they have now it’s definitely a steal if you’re looking for someone something more powerful then you can go for the Z one just know you’re gonna be paying almost 800 or $900.

I do t know what Lenovo was thinking
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The price to performance on this is atrocious. Its a shame because the device feels great, has great controls, and a noce screen. But they chose an underpowered APU that performs significantly worse than the existing legion go that can be bought for cheaper frequently when on sale. Wait for the SteamOS version or wait until Lenovo figures out what the heck they’re doing.

Solid device with great screen and 32gb of ram.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a great companion to my XBox Series X, and an upgrade from my Steam Deck Oled. I purchased it on sale at $599.99. I wanted a Windows device this time, so that I could have access to Game Pass. The Xbox Play Anywhere feature works great on the Go S. I'm getting much better performance than the early reviews suggested. The setup took a bit of wrestling, as the Legion Space app driver update feature didn't work for me. (I used my iVanky dock, keyboard/mouse and monitor for the setup process.) I was able to download all of the drivers from the Lenovo Support site, however.(it wasn't smooth either, but I managed to get it done) As far as gaming is concerned, I'm getting great results. (I've done a bit of tinkering and am using the ample available ram to my advantage) Doom Eternal on high/ultra at 80-100fps, Lords of the Fallen at medium/50fps, Elden Ring at High/35-45 fps, OBlivion Remastered Medium at 45-50fps. So, it's a great upgrade from my Steam Deck Oled. I miss the simplicity of SteamOS, but I'm enjoying the access to Game Pass, the Epic Launcher, and Steam.

Dont pay attention to these bad reviews
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Look, its as simple as this. The people crying and giving it bad reviews are getting it wrong. Its not the systems fault....its the users! UPDATE THE CHIPSET DRIVER! as you should do with any new gaming devices. You dont just rely on windows to donit for you. Download the newest drivers and you wont have the kind of issues that everyone is crying about. It is a solid machine and plays all of my games. GtaV on unltra settings. Cyberpunk 2077 on high. It stays cool, no heating issues . The screen is beautiful as well! Love the feel of it when its in my hands. A truely beautiful design. I most definitely recommend it! Just use your brain and update the drivers after windows finishes installing.
