There are no “windows” to the car but the design is there. Yes, it can free-wheel or you can set it to “wind up” and allow it to move a few feet on it’s own. The mechanism used to do this will be the part that may take the longest to assemble.

If I had any complaint it would be when you inserted the motor it had you test the release. Had to disassemble when the release I assembled was not placed in the proper position.
