It is called a CRV3 rechargeable battery SYSTEM. That is technically correct, BUT the hidden agenda is that it is THEIR system and only Lenmar brand batteries or perhaps other battteries that are similarly designed. The trick is that they have a small metal dot inbetween the two batttery contacts. The charger uses only one of the large contacts plus the small metal dot for charging. You can see the small dot when you enlarge the picture of the battery. A big problem is that these batteries are only 1350 mAh which is very low and will not give you as many pictures as other batteries. Kodak makes a similar battery, but they are a bit more honest and do not call it a CRV3. This new style battery does work in the same cameras, but the low mAh is a problem and none of your alternatively styled CRV3 batteries can be charged with this device.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Wanted a regular battery but only chargeable avail
I just wanted a regular non chargeable battery. but the chargeable was all that was available so I got two. when it came it said it needed charging....but I don't have the charger and don't even know what to buy to charge the battery. I'm very disappointed. I couldn't find the battery charger before but was forced to add it below as just a battery was not available. guess that's what I need for the stupid dead battery I just purchased.
