I bought this around Christmas time because it was on sale at the same price as the (original) Google Hub Display. I should've bought more of this! The video quality and especially the sound quality of this unit blew me away! Don't get me wrong, the Google one is pretty nice, but if you want to have some absolutely amazing sound, go for this one for a little more money. You won't be disappointed! As for the Google Assistant built into this unit, it works the same as the Google Hub; and it's very responsive. But the screen (graphic) quality on this unit is WAY better!

This smart display is perfect for size and price too. It is easy to setup and looks great works great. Speaker is not bad at all.

I have a lot of Google Home products and decided I would try out a display. I considered this and the Google Home Hub but on Black Friday they were the same price and I went with the Lenovo's bigger screen and speakers. It sounds nice and does everything I would expect. I can control my Lifx lights and my speakers and play music through the interface but also can do video calls using Google Duo, watch Youtube videos and lots of other functions like following recipes on the screen. Definitely a nice addition to the other Google Home compatible products.

There are a couple things I really like about this product. First is the speakers are really good for the size. They are on-par with my Google Home device, maybe better. Second is how it allows you to handle recipes. When you ask for a recipe it will pull out the text of the recipe itself. This is a much better experience than just using a tablet because on a tablet you get a huge article plus ads throughout the whole page. With this display, just the recipe is shown and it's really easy to navigate through the process of baking/cooking with it.

While this is basically just a Google Home speaker with a screen, the screen does make a huge difference. For one, you can see what the assistant believes you asked written out on the screen, which avoids confusion. But by far the two best features for me have been the ability to have recipes listed out in step by step format on screen and casting to the device so I can watch TV while I'm doing the dishes, making eggs, etc. Also, as an added bonus the speaker is surprisingly good. Can't recommend this device enough!

Great screen, good sound, responsive touch but the google software limits what you can do more that I ever imagined. For the hardware I would have given Lenovo 5 stars but for the Google Assistant I give Google 1 star. I was expecting the same Google Assistant as on my phone but it turns out to be not even 10% of that. When I use the Google Assistant on my phone, WITHOUT it having to open a browser, I can use my own weather website, check TV programing, do information searches and a million other things ... For none of these tasks does my phone tell me that it must open a browser. It does all of the tasks within the Google Assistant of my phone. The smart display Google Assistant can't do any of that. Two more big weaknesses to note for the Smart Display: 1. Google Maps is so limited that you can only check the most basic directions. It's not made for changing the route or adding additional destinations or stop off points. 2. When Google Assistant does a search you don't get search results to pick from. It must already be picking the top item in the list for you. So you have to try the search over and over again with different combinations of words to see if the assistant will actually get you the answer you want. For most cases I never got the answer from the Smart Display and had to pick up my phone where I got it right away. So if you like watching YouTube on an 8" screen this unit is for you because the screen is great. Otherwise buy a good tablet or do what I do and just put up with the 5" screen from my phone.

I love this device. The screen is very large and so far everything has been working great. Due to the Amazon and Google fuss they don't support each other fully yet but if you have nest and non Amazon only devices, this is easily the way to go. If you use ring or prefer them then I'd go with an equivilant Amazon Alexa device. I do use both but sound quality and ease of use is definitely in Google favor. The sound quality could be better but it's really not bad or over bass'y. Would buy on sale again.

have had lenova for short time but really like it so far...love the size of display...i can see it clearly...was nicely surprised with speaker quality...i may not be a "blaster" but upper limits sound pretty clear and rich... only 4 stars because sometimes i have to repeat simple commands a few times and sometimes it listens and won't reply..(like some people i know)...not often enough for me to dislike it or want to return it..(like some people i know)...so far....glad of purchase...so far...

After using this device for almost two years I have found that it works fairly well. I am not going to review Google’s software here. The screen is decent for the size but the 10” version’s screen is much better. BUT, you don’t need such a high res screen on a device like this. For an alarm clock it works well but there are other devices out there at cheaper prices that can achieve this if that is all you need it for. As a “google home” device it runs the software well but the software’s limitations make things frustrating. The build is great, color nice, material feels excellent. Physical shutter slider is key. Speakers are decent, nothing to write home about but definitely beat the Google (Nest) home mini in output and quality. Be advised, starting in Nov 2019 (just a year after purchase and release of product) there is a line of dead pixels about 3/4 of the way up from the bottom of the screen. It just looks like a thin blue line but as I have not moved or damaged the device in any way, this is a little concerning for the longetivity of the device. I got three 8” and 1 10” version during the 2018 black friday season for myself and gifts that year and everyone was excited and happy. At the sale price I got these at, the devices are worth it but at regular price, I would pass

I purchased Lenovo - 8" Smart Display with Google Assistant before Christmas and I am extremely happy with the product. It made life easy by automating simple things like playing music /video directly on the display and setting up morning routines such as checking the weather, playing top news etc. Sound quality is very good. My 8 years son love it. He can now play his favorite Netflix Lego Ninjgo on the TV just using voice command. Its perfect for kitchen, my wife love watching recipes shows while cooking.

i really like this. bought it on good friday when it was 99 dollars. where i live radio reception is poor so i use it every morning to listen to espn sports radio. way clearer than the old radio i used to use. it is useful for quickly looking at weather, listening to songs or asking some questions. it stumbles on some things but overall i really like it. Lenovo did a good job with the quality of this little thing. if it were 50 or 100 dollars more, i dont think i would feel as positive as i do.

Lenovo hit a home run with this smart display with the fair price point. We returned the 8" for the larger 1080p screen and it was a perfect choice. Got this on sale. We make Duo video calls to family and the wife casts Hulu shows from her phone. She says it makes kitchen work a breeze. I have pics displaying from a google album and use it to command smart devices, and get information. Nice hands free desplay to get YouTube videos. Speaker is loud and sounds decently balanced.

I love the Lenovo 8” google display. Got it on sale for $99 back in November. We have it in the kitchen. It’s been great for getting the weather, new recipes, getting all kinds of general information on things including instant access to YouTube videos . I also use it to control some TP-Link smart devices and our SimpliSafe alarm system. The speaker is decent for music. We don’t play it too loud so it’s been fine. I plan on adding some more smart devices to it as time goes on!

We use this in the kitchen. The display is a nice size and the form factor looks very nice on a white stone countertop. It doesn't draw attention to itself as a tech device. All google services work well along with control of several smart home devices. The sound is decent for kitchen. We don't use the camera, so the privacy shutter is nice.

The screen adds to things: good assistant in the kitchen and a pretty nice digital picture frame. If these are not important to you, the video screen is nice, but I ended up watching things on other devices. The speakers got loud enough to be heard over me washing dishes, but there was not enough granularity in the controls and I felt I was either playing too loud or quiet. Also a little large, so make sure you have room for it.

So I own the 8 inch model as well as this 10 inch version. It's only a 2 inch difference but it is very much noticable. Watching video on either size is satisfying but this 10 inch does look and sound better. I did get one of the defective no picture models the first time I picked up so I would recommend the 2 year warranty that I added and still paid a total of less than 170 with warranty. Great value!

We have two Google Home Minis, and I replaced one in the kitchen with this Lenovo. I would have gotten the Google Home Hub but it doesn't offer a camera and I wanted this for video calling. It's great for that, using Google Duo. The large screen is excellent. The sound is very good for calls or music. It connects seamlessly to our Google Home network. We haven't taken advantage of all it offers yet, but we're pleased so far.

I bought this when it was a deal of the day. We have Google homes or at least Google assistants in every room. Wasn't sure I needed this but it really makes a difference with the screen to see the morning routine. When the weather is shown instead of just said. My wife is excited that she doesn't need to use her phone anymore when she looks up a new recipe to try out. Using Google duo it also makes video calls simple.
