Better computer than the price would suggest

I'm a full time college student so I use my laptop daily. I'm also a full time mother so I need to be able to multi task. Sometimes I have to stop what I'm working on and close up the laptop to help my child. With my old laptop I dreaded doing that because it took so long to get it up and running again. This laptop turns back on so quickly! I'm not very computer savvy so I'm not sure how much of what I like is due to the laptop itself or Windows 8. What I can say is that everything on this computer is quick. There are so many shortcuts to use multiple programs at once. I did not read the directions, available in electronic form, but I never have with any other computer either. This one is really different though. Throughout normal use and a few Google searches I have discovered many, though I'm sure not all, of the little quirks that make using this laptop and Windows 8 a breeze. However, there is a learning curve when it comes to using the mouse because everything is reached through hidden toolbars around the screen. I was stuck several times when browsing online because I couldn't figure out how to go to another website. It's much quicker and easier to use the new Windows over the old Windows, in my opinion. My husband only uses the new Windows 8 to keep up his ESPN page at all times. He prefers to use the old desktop and Internet Explorer when he's doing homework. The mouse is capable of doing a variety of tasks, but seems to respond spontaneously sometimes. I'm sure if I would read the manual it would make much more sense, in the mean time I stumble ever so often to zoom in or scroll down. Once you learn to keep only one hand near the mouse pad it does become easier. The laptop is very personalized, so I would recommend not sharing with someone. When you set up the computer you name it and personalize your color scheme and background design (in a way cooler way than you would think), and add a picture of yourself. It's similar to a smart phone. The ability to add apps is really cool. Unfortunately, I feel strange downloading random apps to my computer. I'm not sure how easily it would be to download something harmful and have to have it fixed. Another feature that I've only played with once is the Lenovo You Cam. It has lots of fun tools you can use to make short movies. It's not equipped with Microsoft Word but it is really easy to install since there is already a link. Overall it's a great computer so far, much better than you would think given the low price.
