Great Initial Impression, but some problems after!

    Posted .

When we first booted the computer we were impressed with the many things it could do. The second day we turned the computer on we received a Blue Screen of Death stating: "ERROR Page fault in non-paged area". Being a repair technician myself, I decided to run a factory reset. At this point we were very disappointed with the product. When you purchase a product you don't normally expect to get a blue screen from the start! This is a shame on lenovo. We currently own another Lenovo desktop and we have no complains, but I guess this laptop was disappointing from the beginning. After performing a full restore/reformatting, the computer seems to be working fine. I had to remove the veri-face software used to login with the integrated camera, upon research I found out that this could have been the problem. Veri-face just so happens to be a lenovo add on software that comes with the laptop. Also beware of the lenovo boot optimizer, that was the last thing I ran before I got the blue screen of death. It has not been more than 2 months and the computer seems to be working fine after all this. I have yet to run a memtest86 to check the memory on it as well as running segate tools to check the hard disk. Although the computer is working, I still do not know if there might be a hardware problem. ANOTHER thing is that each individual USB port is extremely tight! You almost feel like you will break the internal components/motherboard every time you are plugging in a usb device as well as unplugging it. I should have taken the computer back a long time ago, but I have decided to give it a try. If anything else happens, I will totally claim the 1 year manufacturer warranty on it. If you are not well versed with simple computer repair procedures I would not recommend you buy this product, since you will most likely end up back at the store claiming the warranty. GOOD THINGS 1. great keyboard 2. nice display 3. light weight 4. price

    Great Computer for the price

    Posted .

I was mainly looking for a cheap computer that had HDMI output. I was about to buy a Toshiba with this feature, but the processor was a turn off for me. Then I saw this computer as one of the displays at Bestbuy, I played around with it and noticed it was pretty quick. Once I realized it was a 2.3GHZ processor and 500GBHD, I paid closer attention. My budget was not to go over $400 dollars, but for 30 dollars extra, this computer was the best for the price. Lenovo is a brand I've never heard of so I was kind of skeptical. I've used Dells and HPs, both have disappointed me in the past. Toshiba laptops are the ones that have been reliable for me. And now, I will add Lenovo laptops to my short list of good laptops. I love the fingerprint scanner that unlocks my computer instead of typing a password. I use this laptop to stream Netflix and connect to my LED big screen TV. The view is excellent and the processor barley breakes a sweat. I also like the flat black coloring which does not require constant cleaning. Battery life is excellent. The only thing that worries me at this point is the thin power cord, I feel that the power cord will require careful handeling, I once had a Compaq laptop with the same style of power cord and the internal wiring just wore out and I was not able to charge my compaq computer, then again I was pretty ruff with the cord, but I hope I don't run into that same issue with the Lenovo power cord for my new laptop. So far so good, I RECOMMEND THIS LAPTOP !!!!!

    It's from IBM

I purchased an HP Pavilion DV7 and the video card burned after only 18 months, the only way to fix it is to replace the motherboard ! Reading blogs I found that this turned in to a very common problem for HPs. I purchased a Dell online and when I went to the store to pick it up , I didn't like how cheap it looked, the Dell's on this price range look like 5 or 6 years old models, so I decided to cancel my order and purchased this Laptop. I was more confident to buy it when I learned that Lenovo is made by IBM. Yes the Dell has a 2.53 GHz processor, and the Lenovo has a 2.33 GHz, but that to me wasn't enough to decide for the Dell, this Laptop has better sound, face recognition, fingerprint logon , and more , much more, with the HDMI output this computer turned in to a great deal for the money !

    Excellent laptop for the price

    Posted .

Overall, this laptop is a great deal. The processor is top-notch for this price range, much faster than similar processors in this price range. The display is very bright and sharp, and online videos play very well. I really like having an HDMI port, it works very well with external monitors or TVs. The keyboard with the number pad is really nice. Battery life is way above & beyond anything I've ever had before - 4 1/2 hours is awesome! And standing next to it, you wouldn't know if it's on or off - the fan is extremely quiet & efficient. My only complaints would be that the speakers are very quiet; even at max volume, it's not real easy to listen to a movie with others in the room. Also, the USB ports seem to be very tight and hard to plug into. And strangely, it's missing a volume slider wheel - you adjust volume by pressing a function key plus the left/right arrow keys.

    Best laptop under 450

    Posted .

I couldn't be happier with this laptop. I currently work in IT and can tell you that this is the best laptop under 450 dollars. The only laptop better than this one under 500 is the same one with the i5 processor. The other review is not helpful at all. This machine will do anything you throw at it. I3, 4gb, 500gig, 64 bit, awesome computer! You won't be disappointed.

I have used this daily since Christmas and it works great. Boots up super fast . I was thinking about the Apple, but the price is so ridiculous so I went with this . Great computer . I have it cross platformed with a old Apple computer that I wiped out and use Linux on it now . Both computers are running on my network now . Windows 7 and Linux work great together.

Great Product - Well Worth the Price

I have the V570 (practically identical to the B570) provided as replacement for my new HP Pavilion dv6 which had all kinds of problems and had to be scrapped. I've had it 23 days now and feel it's a beautiful piece of machinery that I'd certainly recommend.

I have never purchased a Lenovo product before. The laptops purchased a month ago are easy to setup, lightning fast with no problems. Like all the new features, its compact, good sound quality and great for budget conscious new small business owner. Seems to be a lot more sturdy than other laptops for same value.

    Great Laptop for the price

    Posted .

I bough this laptop 2 months ago, So far it has been amazing. ABSOLUTELY NO ISSUES. I chose this laptop because it has the most advanced technology compared to the rest of the laptops on this same price range. The software was a bit annoying at first, I was exited about the veri-face but it turns out to be a pain, and it made the boot a little slower. On the other hand, I LOVE the finger print scanner. One slow swipe and the computer is unlocked. I have not used my keyboard to access my computer in the 2 months that I have owned. I run the boot optimizer every other week just to keep my boot fairly quick. I recommend this laptop to anybody looking for a fast, reliable laptop. Pedro

Nice Machine for the Money if...

I have had this PC for over a month now and have not experienced any issues like some others state. From what I can observe, if you do not use or attempt to use the BIO security or Face Security software there are no problems. The machine is fast, quiet and perfect for an extra household laptop. Wireless is fast and streaming Netflix is great, also the ability to connect to an HDMI compatible TV works great!

    Thought it was great until...

I received this as a Christmas present in 2011. I instantly loved it. It was fast, much faster than my previous HP laptop. Its battery life was also way better than my HP (about 5 hours vs. an hour and a half). It is very scratch-resistant. It's also fairly lightweight. There were some things about it that didn't meet to my expectations- like its poor webcam, the fact that the touch pad is so sensitive that it automatically will start changing the size of the font while you're browsing the internet, the arrangement of the numbers on the side (the zero key is awkwardly smaller than usual and I always ended up hitting the right arrow key instead), and it had mediocre sound quality. Its flaws were petty to me- the fact that it was quick, has good battery life, and is portable is what matters the most to a college student. However, I soon was going to find out its major flaws. On Friday, March 2, 2012.. the computer completely died. It refused to turn on, even with me trying numerous diagnostic techniques (I'm not a computer genius but I consider myself above the average Joe). After no response, I took it to Best Buy because it's still under warranty (barely over 2 months old). The Geek Squad technician, after messing with it for almost an hour, had no idea what had happened to it. He suspected that the motherboard went bad on it. It is currently back at the Lenovo manufacturing plant to run diagnostics and fix the problem. I'm currently without a laptop for school for 2-3 weeks. Maybe I had a faulty one, and perhaps (and hopefully) this hasn't happened to anybody else, but still- something going majorly wrong with it within 2 months of use? Spend your money on something else.

    Won't turn on

    Posted .

Purchased this computer in Dec. It is now going back to Lenovo for the 2nd time. I just got it back 2 days ago. The thing will not turn on. The power light comes on but not the computer. The first fix from Lenovo was to reboot the computer. What is the point of having a computer if I have to reboot and lose my info all the time. Do not buy this computer. I loved it until the issues started.

Had a laptop with an AMD processor for two days. It was sooooo slow. Went on line and looked at reviews for this Intel I3 laptop. The reviews rated it very high. The battery life is great. I now use this as my primary home computer. Packed the old PC up and saved a lot of space. So happy with my Lenovo when i get a new desktop it will be a Lenovo.

    Constantly locks ups

    Posted .

I bought this Lenova when it was deeply discounted in early December, 2011. Seemed like a great deal but I have had lots of issues with it locking up, then not starting up. I am always having to use the Recovery Mode to restore the settings on the computer in order to get it to turn on. I will be looking for another laptop very soon if I can't get these issues fixed. One other issue is that screen size constantly changes on its own from 100% to 115% or 85%.

    I wouldn't purchase

    Posted .

I purchased this laptop thinking that it was a great deal for the price. WEll the same night I opened it I started the Windows updates and it froze about 3 times trying to update. I even let it sit for about 6hrs to see if maybe it needed more time. I noticed that is had constant problems loading the Microsoft Framework Client 4 so I tried to do a repair and it would say unsuccesful every single time, so back to the store it went. I figured it may have just been that I got a bad one out of the bunch. Well I exchange it for another one of the exact same kind and it had the EXACT issues. So I called Lenovo and they told me to reboot and see if that works. Well if I wanted to have to reboot a laptop everytime it froze I wouldn't purchase one. So After I rebooted it and went back to conduct the updates it was doing the same thing again. So now today this one is going back and I am done with Lenovo.

    Don't Waste Your Money

    Posted .

I bought this laptop as a gift to myself and 1/2 the time the computer will not boot up. I have to go into safe mode and restore from some other point and then it might work. I spend more time restoring then I do enjoying it. Also, half the time the battery won't charge. I have even adjusted the battery charge setting. Don't waste your money on Lenovo, buy something else. Another family has a higher $$ Lenovo and has just as much issues.

    worst computer ever!

    Posted .

This is the WORST computer I have ever used! First of all the corners are so sharp they hurt if you rest your arm down or bump the edge. Also, the cursor jumps all around, and the size of the letters on the screen constantly changes by itself! It also freezes and is slow to load sometimes. I have had mine for a week and it is going back to the store! DO NOT BUY!
