You can switch the key functions of specific keys on your keyboard with this software, so you could change the right shift key with the key you hit in its place. Just Google search "KeyTweak" and you will find articles about what the software does and you will find the download location for this free APP.

You can also run diagnostics from the Lenovo site as well. As always, be sure to create a restore point on your system before you make any changes. I prefer to type so I was happy it does not have a touch screen. The minute i got home I put in my 120GB SSD and took out the 500GB rotational HD. Disassembly was easy but be careful: all the components are attached to the top case. My linux install went well. Fedora runs pretty well, and all the drivers were there for wireless support. 4GB of RAM is a weak point here, but this laptop has a standard SODIMM slot for upgrading (occupied by the 4GB DIMM. The interesting thing is linux reports 2 ram slots, and a max supported RAM dictated by the motherboard to be 32GB (!). I'll look around for the other slot when I upgrade, but I doubt it actually exists. Overall I can't speak to windows performance, but the performance overall is adequate, and with 8GB RAM I think this notebook would be pretty decent. I have my 8GB stick on order. Battery life is pretty good. I can get about 4 hours out of it with web browsing usage, probably more if I dimmed the screen. If you can get this laptop for under $200, so it!

However, if solitaire is your game there is no problem. Nice big screen for my old eyes and a separate numeric keyboard is a plus as well as the cd/dvd drive. The only negative I have found is the keyboard layout - I have inadvertently hit the enter key when reaching for the shift key.
