great first computer

I got everything I needed plus a whole lot more for a very reasonable price! I love it! It has been great for internet, email, watching movies, and plenty of hard drive space for downloads!

Great computer

The person on the phone can’t help you install any software or programs. (Told me to get my young friends to help me.) The “chat” person is a 2 hour wait. I do not have WiFi available in my home location. I do have a personal hotspot on my tablet, but I don’t want to use all my data and then some. I thought Best Buy would be helpful, but no. Just another big box store too big to care about the little person. Save the $150

Laptops get abused with so much handling it's not worth investing in the top of the line models specially if kids only do online work (google docs & cloud based stuff) for school. The last laptop was a 360 flip with touch screen. Neither feature was ever really used so that's why we went with this. Why pay for gimmicks that aren't used? Teenager use laptop for school projects and smart phones for everything else. So need need to waste it on a laptop. Two things to note: expect 12 hours of updates for windows to configure itself (even with a rocking broadband internet), and the keyboard shift key placement is horrible. Didn't notice it at the store because it does have the larger layout with number pad. You'd think that'd be standard after all these years but companies can screw up simple things that work. But it's useable. The choice was pay nearly the same cost to try to have geek squad fix the old one in 2 days, let me screw around myself for a week figuring out to get the broken one running with no recover media, or just buy something that does the minimal job. No matter what, the technology will be obsolete in 2 years so it's an easy decision. Buy a throw away device like this.

Concerning Windows 10 updates, the amount of time Windows 10 updates take is dependent on the current Windows 10 updates that have come out after the factory install of the operating system. The update times will vary. With regard to the right shift key issue you mention, there is a free software APP called KeyTweak that may help you. You can switch the key functions of specific keys on your keyboard with this software, so you could change the right shift key with the key you hit in its place. Just Google search "KeyTweak" and you will find articles about what the software does and you will find the download location for this free APP.
