    Great laptop for the price.

Was looking for a good 4th gen I5 laptop with decent specs and no fluff with the intended use of general computing (no graphic intensive games, not doing development). Looked at 15+ different models and as long as you don't need a touchscreen, this one has the best specs for the price. Have never been a fan of Lenovo in the past but this thing seems solid and plenty fast enough without to many funky drivers or required pieces of OEM software that you see with other makes / models too often. If your goal is to browse the web, check e-mail, watch movies, run office and want something that will still be technologically relevant in 3-4 years, this is a great deal.

    Lenovo laptop...went for an HP

I went in after looking for the best inexpensive laptop I could find since this was mainly for my husband to do income tax for us and others. We both have tablets we love. I went for the HP in the add but after comparing, I decided on this Lenovo. Great bang for the buck. The i5 processor is plenty fast enough for anything he'll be doing and the 6gb ram was a bonus. The one thing I would've liked to have that it doesn't is the backlit keyboard. That bumps it up another $150 to $200! and I didn't care about a touch screen on a laptop. If you're looking for a great, inexpensive workhorse, this is it! It was also one of the few laptops with a DVD drive. Sorry I want that! I forgot to mention I've worked with a lot of laptops and other devices...been in IT for over 20 years.

    Not Bad for the Price

So wife's computer crashed and needed a replacement in a hurry. For a 5th gen i5 processor with 6GB of ram you cant go wrong. It even had a DVD±RW/CD-RW which is getting harder to find a laptop that has an optical drive installed. Now for the bad.... speakers, battery life and the operating system. Speakers are not the best. Battery life is between 3-4 hours. WIN 8.1 does not work well on a non-touch screen monitor and takes a lot of time to master this new operating system. I wish the HD was bigger but will do.

Great Lenovo laptop for the price

The G50-70 is an excellent computer for people budgeting but expecting a decent workhorse. I intend to use this computer for the rest of my graduate level courses. Portability wise, the laptop is lightweight along with its very small charger, which is a huge plus for me. Fits comfortably in my backpack, while my older HP dv6 was bulky and the charger was cumbersome. Picture wise, the Intel HD 4400 will perform for most tasks - movies, YouTube videos, and such. However, any heavy 3D applications such as WarThunder will be less than enjoyable unless on low settings. Design is pretty slim, around 1 inch in height and the positioning of the USB drives are good. The screen is not touchscreen which I prefer, however I wish that Lenovo incorporated a back light for the keyboard. Overall, good for moderate/college use. No real complaints at the moment.

I work out of town during the week and needed a laptop for work related stuff after I was off, and for a little gaming and browsing. I went to the store planning on getting an ASUS but ended up getting this laptop. So far it is a great laptop for the price! I would highly recommend to anyone wanting a relatively inexpensive laptop that works great!

    better than you think

I'm fairly new into the laptop world but I do my research religiously. This is a great product so far and I returned an Asus to upgrade. It comes with a 2014 released Corei5 which is pretty snappy. It also comes with Windows 8.1, not all of best buys ads are correct. The thing I'm liking the most is Lenovo support and energy management built into the laptop. It breaks down every key component and gives you model numbers of all parts and even a tab to shop online for a piece that matches yours. This is a great buy, no more wishy washy forums or 50/50 upgrade answers. Lenovo support shows there are two RAM slots with 1 having a 2gb module and the other containing 4gb. This actually supports more than 8gb. Don't believe me, buy it and click on Lenovo support and go into the system and find RAM. I recommend this to anyone. I3 is great sure, dig a little extra out your pocket and get this. Great Christmas gift from my girlfriend to me and I couldn't be happier.

    Good value, nice laptop

Been drawn to Lenovo lately as they are one of the only ones left who still give access to battery, hard drive, RAM slot, etc. Most other manufacturers have stopped and thus been written off my list. This is a great value. Plastic is of more than adequate quality. For the every day user (college student, adult, etc) this is the perfect fit. 4th gen Intel i5, webcam, number pad, decent screen, very thin while still having CD drive, able to upgrade/change parts and battery. This is the 3rd Lenovo G50 I have gotten for clients in 2 months, been happy with them all.

    Love it

I did a lot of research before selecting this laptop. It had to be compatible with Adobe CreativeSuite and it is. I was leary ofswitching from Windows 7 to 8.1 because of all the negativity outthere but I am loving 8.1. I have zero problems with it, it's just as easy as 7 or even older Windows. And I'm enjoying learning the new features it adds, it's pretty cool. Only thing I might slightly comment on a little less enthusiastically is that I seem to have to punch the keys a little harder than I'm used to with my desktop keyboard and the space bar between words sometimes doesn't actually space. But I think this is probably just me getting used to a new keyboard, am pretty new to a laptop as a primary computer. It's got plenty of USB & HDMI & VGA ports so I can connect my other keyboard, monitor, tv, wireless mouse, printer etc with no problems. Good battery life, doesn't overheat, doesn't weigh a ton. Has right side numeric keys. What else? It's my favorite color - black. It could use a backlit keyboard but I can live with it. Overall, I'd buy it again and def recommend.

Purchased Lenovo based on reviews online

I thought the system was worth the price, with the Intel Core i5. Would have liked a touchscreen and more hard dive memory, but it's still well worth it. I was able to find it on Best buy online and pick it up just in time for my son's birthday. No regrets!

    Best bang for the buck

-The Ugly- Lenovo Solution Center, an app that mimics the Start menu and Control Panel from Windows 7, is updated once you get online. Unfortunately there is not enough space afterwards to store a backup image in its 50GB partition. So its OneKey recovery feature will not be as simple as pushing a button. -The Bad- Definitely not a travel companion. With less than four hours per charge, you'll want to keep a wall outlet within your field of vision. -And the Good- Look at its specs and consider the reputation of its manufacturer. Now do the math. From its capable processor (Core i5-4210U 2.7GHz) to its cozy keyboard, Lenovo G50 is, in my opinion, one of the best laptops for under $500.

    Excellent All Purpose Laptop

Purchased this Laptop when our general purpose family PC stopped being useful. Did not want to spend a lot of money but have sufficient speed and storage. This computer serves all our needs well so far. No complaints at all and we like the unit. Windows 8 took some getting used to.

    Basic, but fast!!

    Posted .

This laptop may not be the sleekest looking, but it is mighty fast! The price is unbelievable. I could not find a comparable price anywhere. I like the fact that it has a dvd rw drive (hard to find these days). It has a VGA and an HDMI port which makes it easy to connect to projectors when I am giving presentations. It's quite thin, and it's lightweight. The keyboard is very comfortable and quiet. Speaking of quiet, the internal cooling fan is virtually inaudible, but somehow it stays very cool to the touch.

I've had this Lenovo for just over a week. It's great for the price. Fast. Not a big hard drive buti use an external hard drive, so no problem. Space bar sticks alittle but may just be mine.

    Likeable laptop

Like the keyboard and reliability. This is my 4th Lenovo laptop for my family. Well worth the price paid. This is primarily going to be used for my daughter's school work. My first Lenovo laptop bought 3 years ago ( for a higher price ofcourse) still runs perfectly with no problems. Two others bought 2 years ago runs perfectly as well.

Been using this computer for over a year now..

After painstakingly combing through hundreds of reviews for products in this price range, i finally went this model of Lenvo laptop. I have owned and regularly used this computer for over a year now and it has met my expectations well. I do lots of basic video editing and upload as well as lots of video live streaming daily. The only reason i did not give it a 5 star rating is because after about 3 weeks of using the computer, the mouse pad started glitching on me. It still glitches to this day as well. For no apparent reason, it just decides to stop working and i have to either plug in an external mouse, or restart the computer using only key commands. upon restarting the mouse pad usually works for a while again. Overall seems good for the money.

Does what it's supposed to do:)

Am pleased with the footprint, weight, screen size, speed, and keyboard configuration. Am less than pleased with the touchpad - the buttons are a bit too recessed into the frame of the pad, causing an annoying need to press the touchpad buttons very hard. This can of course be averted with a wireless mouse. Can also use "tapping" however that is another learning curve for me.. This would actually have been a dealbreaker had I noticed it at point of purchase. I read about it poste purchase online and wish the sales person had alerted me to this non-feature (if he knew)...

It is very affordable for an i5 laptop. It is very solid construction. Great for everyday task. Not the best but it gets the job done. Great for students. Con it came with a 5400 rpm hard drive. I would recommend buying a ssd hard drive and put it in.

Excellent Machine for Every Day Use

    |
    Posted .

The Lenovo G50 - 59433840 is an excellent computer for every day use, as long as you aren't using it for games. I'm sure it can play some of the less powerful games, but it is definitely not a machine for graphic-intensive games. I use it daily for surfing the web, email, blu-ray burning (with an added external BD Writer obviously, as the included optical drive is just a DVD read drive), etc. It has no issues accomplishing these tasks, and does so quickly. My only regret about buying this machine is that it does not have a back-lit keyboard. I know it doesn't say anything about having one, and at the time of purchase I didn't think that option was important to me. However, I now regret not purchasing a laptop that included one.

    Nice laptop for home use

I haven't used this laptop very much, but so far I am happy with it. I have went through 2 Dell laptops and both have crashed on me in a matter of 2 years so I have higher expectations for this one. Nice size, lightweight. Easy to use keys. I do not like windows 8 but this has nothing to do with this computer. cd/dvd drive nice. Hard to find this feature with most laptops and this was the deal breaker for me.
