A+ Hi-Res display, software doesnt take advantage

This laptop/tablet is great for those who are on the fence about whether they should buy a tablet, or a laptop. This is a laptop first, with decent tablet features, although at times it seems the computer doesn't know what to do with the mode its in. Strange things happen when you have a 2 in 1 device. For instance, it comes preloaded with Skype. But Skype "Tablet" edition. Which is WAY different than Skype PC edition. There are 2 version of IE. Etc. The processor is OK. You can't upgrade the RAM. So what you see is what you get. I tried to upgrade the SSD to a larger drive. And failed miserably. 128GB is just not much. But the biggest problem is the hi-res screen. Windows takes great advantage of it. Most of their software formats correctly. Ditto with iTunes. The same can't be said for nearly every other software manufacturer. Adobe hasn't a clue what to do with the screen. You end up getting tiny tiny boxes with text you can't read. In fact that is a problem with nearly any software I tried. Chrome looks AWFUL on hi-res. Articulate products don't know what do do either. Logitech, NVIDIA, Intel all had issues. And the real kicker- Lenovo's bloatware also couldn't handle the hi-res. This isn't entirely Lenovo's fault, but rather a slam on the software industry who seems to think 1600 x 900 is high enough resolution. If you are looking for a laptop to surf the web and do basic MS Office tasks, this is a swell laptop. If you need to use proprietary software, be very careful. Chances are that software can't handle the Yoga 2 Pros screen resolution.

The Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro packs a lot of computing power in a little case. The 13.1 inch screen is what you would expect from that sized tablet/laptop. Lenovo has made a pretty thin, light-weight laptop that successfully duals as a tablet. The keyboard is sturdy and elegantly folds back around the screen when converting to a tablet. In tablet mode, the screen orientation automatically switches around depending on the angle of the screen. It is very easy to use in all four modes; tablet, laptop, tent, & presentation. Our kids particularly like playing the touch games in presentation mode. The SSD is great for a mobile machine that could potentially see a lot of bouncing around and it boots up quickly. Win 8 took a little getting used to. But, it suits this particular model much better than an Android-based OS. My wife and I both have one and have only noticed a couple drawbacks. In order to get an office suite, you have to either buy it separate (in the case of an in-store purchase) or have it added in as an "aftermarket" option. Also, there is not a 4G option on the tablet which would be important for folks who may need to be mobile but not necessarily always around Wi-fi hot spots. But, with USB 2 & 3, Wi-fi, & Bluetooth, there are many options to connect to external media for both storage and internet. Overall, this was a great purchase and my wife and I would recommend it to any of our friends.

Great screen, lightweight and fast, but many kinks

This is an ultrabook that is highly portable with good battery life and an amazing screen. The one downside with the display is that many, many programs are not configured to scale for proper viewing, meaning the fonts are SUPER-tiny. You can fix this by changing the resolution of the screen, but then you are defeating the whole point of buying this type of screen. This issue is partly the fault of Microsoft and other software makers. Also, if you connect a second monitor, the size of icons, fonts and programs will be all wacky because most LCD monitors cannot display at the same super HD range as the Lenovo. There is a work-around for this, but it is not ideal. One thing that really STINKS about this computer is that the Bluetooth drivers are terrible. They drop out, and wouldn't allow me to install 2 out of 3 of my peripheral devices that work perfectly on other computers. There are many, many complaints on Lenovo website about this problem, but apparently Lenovo doesn't care. I was able to 'fix' this by uninstalling the Lenovo bluetooth driver and installing a generic driver.

I picked this up on the 8th of July and have been using it pretty steady. I initially was going to return it based on the Single Band B+G+N WIFI issues reported in the forums, but was pleasantly surprised to find the unit I got from Best Buy was slightly upgraded. My unit came with a Core I74510 and the Intel wireless AC Dual Band WIFI card. The CPU is only a very slight upgrade from 1.8Ghz to 3.0Ghz for the 4500 to 2.0Ghz - 3.1Ghz for the 4510. Pro's - Fast CPU and Great Screen - Yellows are slightly off, but excellent otherwise - Wireless Dual Band works perfectly and have had 0 problems - Best 2-in-1 Ultrabook I have tested in this price range - Didn't realize how useful touchscreen is with 8.1, I use it a lot - Boots up really fast, like 5-9 seconds fast - After multiple hours of use, didn't get too hot - I really like the touchpad, though wish it was a tad bigger Cons: - Keyboard isn't as solid as MacBook Pro - Screen flicker on auto brightness energy mode during initial change - Would have liked a digitized screen for tablet note taking - Battery life is more like 5 hours with heavy use

Great resolution, size, weight, versatile - laptop to tablet, to stand up tent mode etc. Very fast wake up and start up. Great battery life. The bad part is that the exceptional resolution causes problems with numerous 3rd party software. The font size and also the size of many of the windows and wizards are so small in some cases that you can't even read them or use the touch screen. I did however decide to keep it because I felt the pros outweighed the resolution compatibility problem, because in many cases you can customize the view in each individual software to provide an acceptable view (although it is extremely time consuming and a pain). BESIDES I AM EXPECTING THAT LENOVO AND THE 3RD PARTY'S WILL RESOLVE THESE ISSUES WITH UPDATES! Finally, I don't like the fact that to get the most out of Windows 8.1, you have to create an MSN account use all the apps.

    Good Computer... When it works...

Love this laptop, but only had it for 4 months and I am bringing in back to the store for a second time. The first time I had issues the the screen resolution in different programs; things were huge. Now the screen has quit working completely. Very frustrating. I do not recommend this product if it will be your only computer. They say two weeks minimum to fix the screen which is pretty inconvenient, but what good is a laptop win a broken screen? Also, for some reason it is near impossible to find support online for this product with any problems. I have had to re install the Bluetooth driver and WiFi driver multiple times because for some random reason, they seize to work. This means closing everything I have open to let the PC restart. BestBuy has not been very helpful in the process either. Frustrating, but this is a great machine.. When it works..

For the most part I love my new lenovo. It is quick and has lots of great features. Unfortunately when on the regular windows screen it flips back to the accessories screen very often and is quite annoying when trying to get something accomplished (should be able to lock in where you are in settings). Also, it did not come with a case and it would be nice to have something that would protect it when carrying it from home to work, etc. Best Buy associates said there was one case available through their website (not in stores) but it is not a carrying case but a hard case that just protects against breakage when it drops. Will have to check some other local business stores for an appropriate bag. Battery life is about 6 hours but has a nice long cord so even at work, I have not had trouble finding somewhere to plug in. Staff were very knowledgeable and answered all our questions when making this purchase.

I previously had the iPad retina and I soon realized that I was more of a Microsoft fan than an apple fan. I like this computer for the fact that it is a laptop and tablet all in one. This system boots up extremely fast and the picture quality is amazing. This laptop is extremely light and feels lighter than any of the laptops I've ever owned. The downfall when you're watching movies is that the control bar is extremely small where you can't pause the movie which is a windows 8 problem. Whenever you are in an app it sometimes starts to open up other apps that you were previously in. The touchpad sometimes freezes and you have to give it a couple minutes to start working again. These problems are tolerable compared to issues that I've had in the past with other laptops.

MY YOGA 2 PRO WAS MY FIRST COMPUTER THAT I HAVE BOUGHT AND I AM VERY PLEASED WITH EVERYTHING THAT IS HAS DONE FOR ME. YOU CAN USE IT AT ANY TIME, DAY OR NIGHT BECAUSE OF THE BACKLIT KEYBOARD CAPABILITY. THE GRAPHICS ARE INCREDIBLE, THE BEST THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN ON A LAPTOP. THE GREENISH-YELLOW COLOR IS HARDLY NOTICEABLE AND IF YOU HAVE HEARD PROBLEMS WITH THE WIFI, AS OF YET I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM BUT I DO HAVE THE BLUETOOTH OFF. SOMETIMES THE TRACKPAD CAN BE A LITTLE HARD TO CLICK AND CAN BECOME GREASY. SINCE IT IS A TOUCH SCREEN YOU WILL SEE FINGERPRINTS BUT ONLY IN THE SUNLIGHT BUT IF YOU TURN UP THE BRIGHTNESS THERE WILL BE MINIMAL GLARE. THE BATTERY WILL LAST LONG ENOUGH TO LAST THROUGHOUT THE DAY. OVERALL I HAVE BEEN VERY PLEASED.

Overall very good; Win 8.1 not an easy transition

Overall a nice laptop. Win 8.1 is not an easy transition from previous versions, but does include traditional "desktop" option. For "Modern" apps and "free" Cloud backup, you are locked in to the Windows Store, and using a Windows account on your laptop -- which may remind you of another vendor with similar philosophy. Screen resolution is comparable to or better than MacBook Pro "Retina" screen. Win 8.1 does not yet include DVD player, but user can download free VLC media player. Keyboard still feels a little awkward -- placement of keys, etc. Boot and shutdown is very fast with SSD storage. Slim, lightweight, good battery life (6+ hours?). Very good compared to other laptop options.

Great computer for the price. Great for any tasks- excel work, internet browsing, email, etc. Full functionality- pretty much everything and anything you could ask for - but it's kind of annoying it doesn't have an HDMI input (has a mini-HDMI or something). Biggest flaw is the tiny harddrive (128 GB SSD?)....big problem if you have movies or a lot of music, etc. Any you CANNOT upgrade RAM or hard drive on the Pro 2 because they're soldered to the motherboard or something...But all in all, if you know what you're getting into, I would definitely recommend it.

Windows 8 and the "tiles" are not intuitive. Navigation is not intuitive and the interface is "fussy." Do not have total control over moving around from place to place on the screen. Having trouble with modifying the settings. Some icons do not appear. Love the machine, screen, and keyboard. It is very mobile and light. Everything I was looking for in terms of hardware. But Windows 8 leaves a lot to be desired and MS-Office 365 remains a bit unclear.

It is light and fast. I switched from an old mac-book 2008 and am loving it so far. The keyboard is not very convenient for me though, as compared to my mac-book, may be I need some time to adjust. I have tried to plug PNY brand of USB flash memory and it would't fit, the USB was too big I think but a sundisk and hp flash drives fit perfectly. I tried two different PNY USB, both didn't fit

I have only had this for about a month, however in that time am very impressed with the total experience. Computer is easy to use and set up is very flexible. Have been pleasantly surprised with the battery life after all the stories I had heard about laptops, pads etc with poor battery life, I have been getting 7-8 hours on this with no reduction on my part of graphics or power usage.

I'm used to a thinkpad keyboard, so the Yoga Pro doesn't have the feel I'm used to - The color yellow displays as a pretty ugly color - I'm hoping that will be fixed some time. It doesn't impact my use of the computer though. I really like the size and weight . The display is super sharp - but at times the font is tiny and tough to read.

This laptop gets used a lot - every day. It performs very well with good processing speed, does not over-heat, has a great screen and is very portable. The only downside is the lack of a back-lit keyboard. My previous laptop had one and it is surprising how much you miss it. Overall an excellent product for the price point.

I purchased this for entertainment purposes and it's done just fine. The 4 modes I'm able to use are amazing. Reading books in tablet mode was easy, cooking in tent mode was a blast, stand mode for the touch screen with the virtual keyboard was neat! This PC is decent for the price. It having an i5 processor is fast too!!

The Yoga 2 Pro is a great Ultra-book, that can be used as a tablet. It really is a great Windows 8 device that uses the features of the Win 8 operating system in good ways. The touchscreen works really well, but having a keyboard available is wonderful. The device it self is great look and feels very sturdy.

This is a great computer. I love the way it converts into so many positions. However, I just can't get used to Windows 8. Some love it but it just doesn't do it for me, especjally when I want to use it for spreadsheets or word processing. If you like Windows 8 then you can't do much better than this.

Going from an MacBook and IPhone /iPad I thought I would have a lot of problems. But the transition has been very easy. I'm so happy. Adding programs from the web has been so easy as well. Yoga 2 works really fast and I am not waiting for it to switch from one program to another.
