    Imperfect Unreliable Affordable Machine

    Posted

Pros: -SSD and Memory are a great value. +2 -Comes with USB-C port to keep it thin and light. I have two monitors, USB headset, and ethernet line hooked up via USB-C dongle and it usually runs fine; maybe once a day ethernet is disconnected so I have to unplug the USB-C HUB to reset it. +1 / -1 -Keyboard is decent, and I consider the touchpad not bad for plastic. +1 Cons: Bluetooth and updates. Within a week of owning the computer the Bluetooth stopped working; I keep a Bluetooth keyboard at my workstation and it's been frustrating ever since as it cuts in and out, works one minute then doesn't the other. I should've just unloaded this device when that first round of bluetooth connectivity issues happened! It's happened a few times since. Not sure I'll buy another Lenovo.

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with the Bluetooth capability within your Lenovo IdeaPad 330s-15 laptop. This device uses Bluetooth 4.1. Be sure the device you are pairing with this computer is compatible with Bluetooth 4.1. Although Bluetooth 4.1 is backward compatible to older versions, there could be connection issues. You can also update the BIOS and Drivers on the computer that control Bluetooth on the computer. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. If the issue still continues after these updates, we recommend you call Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686 for additional help. lenovo

    Too good to be true.

I am a high school student and needed a fast, light, and dependable laptop. This laptop seemed perfect on paper, with an ssd, i5, 8gb of ram, and a backlit keyboard. Almost too good to be true for around 500. So I got it. The weight was pretty normal for a 15 inch laptop. The keyboard was very comfortable. The speed of it was fast. The battery drained quicker then I expected, around 4 hours for moderate use. The size was quite big and not enjoyable to carry around. And FINALLY... the screen of this laptop is one of the worst I have ever looked at. Couldn't bare watch a video on it. The screen was extremely washed out at every angle, especially on a black screen(such as a movie/video). I really wanted to like it but it had to go back.

This configuration has a 15.6" (measured diagonally) 1366 X 768 (HD) resolution screen, with a brightness level of 220 nits. This system ships with a 2CELL 30WH, Lithium Polymer battery, with a battery life of up to 7 hours, depending on the work that the device is performing. Blue screened in the first 6 months of owning.

I have a hard time knowing how to rate this computer. Within the first 6 months I owned it, it blue screened. I was abroad for nearly a whole year so I couldn't really take it anywhere to get it fixed. I literally laid hands on it and prayed. After that, it never blue screened again. But after a year of owning it, it had gotten considerably slow. I bought it for the size while I backpacked. And after my backpacking was done, so was the computer.

The only way to page down is hold down the Function Key or turn off the numbers, neither of which do I want to do. Every laptop I have owned you could page up or down easily with having to have a work around. I use my keypad a lot plus have to page up and down a lot. I never would have bought this laptop if I knew there were laptops that made you do this. If you do not ever page up or down you will love the laptop

This computer is solid design wise the only issue is that while running the fan is loud. For being a newer computer it makes a lot of noise. This computer is used mainly for school work and playing the latest version of sims. The keyboard is good for typing, the battery life is not the best.

I just came from a Dell HD touch screen laptop and thought this one would do for a new laptop for what I needed it for. When I placed the two computers side by side, the screen on mine was SO much better that I brought this one back. I just ended up having a computer shop put a new large SSD hard drive in mine old one and kept it.

My daughter needed a new computer to finish her nursing school. Her old screen was iffy, and the machine was old and slow and full. Without spending a lot of money, I got her this machine which so far is doing what we need. It remains to be seen how it performs over the coming years, but so far, so good.

I bought this for my mom (over 50) who needed a laptop for light internet browsing and MS office use cases. She liked the color and the larger screen. Beyond getting used to using a trackpad instead of a mouse, she tells me she enjoys the laptop.

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo IdeaPad 330s-15 laptop for your mother. With regard to the touchpad, you can make adjustments to the touchpad in your system settings. You can get there by clicking on the magnifying glass at the bottom left of your Windows 10 screen. Type "touchpad" in the search window. Select "Mouse & touchpad settings" from the list of choices. You can make general adjustments to the touchpad there. You can also select "Additional mouse options" for more detailed adjustments to the touchpad sensitivity by increasing the delay of the touchpad. lenovo

So far I'm enjoying this laptop. It's super fast and quiet. The only drawback, which is major, is that the SSD is too small. With 2 games plus the OS it's already full. I'm not sure what I'm going to do but I may wind up returning it.

This system should be a fast system with its Quad-Core/Eight-Thread Core I-5-8250U processor, 8GB of RAM and a 128GB solid state hard drive. Be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programing errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. Regarding the AC power adapter included with the IdeaPad 330s-15 laptop, this is a light weight adapter, meant to compliment the portability of the device itself. It should last the life of the device under normal use. lenovo

This system has a battery life of up to 5 hours, depending on the work that the device is performing. If you are getting substantially less battery life, be sure there are no unwanted programs running in the background, draining the battery. Here is a link to some tips for finding out what is draining your battery:
https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/battery-saver-windows-10. If there are no unwanted programs running, to maximize battery life, try changing your power management setting to a more conservative one. You can do this in the control panel, in the power management category on your system. Select a more conservative power management setting to extend battery life. lenovo
