Pretty bad experience for my first time with Lenovo. The laptop was on sale when I made the purchase, so I thought I got myself a great deal despite all the negative reviews here. First of all, I am used to low-end tier laptops so this level of price is a huge improvement. The laptop is fast, just like what I expected from the specs. It would've been a good laptop, if not for the other minor problems which added up to become a huge deal. First, the noise. After setting up the laptop and signing in, etc. I can hear the whistling noises coming from the bottom side. I looked up online, and it could be either dirt in the fans, or a "coil whine". I brought the laptop up to Best Buy and the Geek Squad people did a quick check and they said it was dirt from the fans. Inside a new laptop? I bought a new product, so I expect the product I'm receiving to be free of defects, and this laptop already sounds like it has gone through 6 months of usage. While at the store, I checked the same model they have on display, and sure enough, that same whistling noise is there. Other laptops displayed (even other Lenovo Ideapads), plus from my past laptops, never has this problem. I visited another Best Buy store and the exact same thing; out of all the displayed laptops of all brands and even other Lenovo models, this is the only one that still has that whistling noise. I suspect this is a common issue in this model. If you don't know how this really sounds like, here is a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYIPp9Wa9o8. Note that this is NOT the actual laptop of the review, but in the video this PC makes a similar sound I heard from this laptop. Second is the WiFi adapter. It could be due to a driver problem, but that should not be the case for a new laptop. However, the WiFi speed I get on this one is super weak. Even putting the laptop next to the router, I still get 1/3 of what my iPhone gets at the same spot. The signal strength on the laptop would also waver more than normal as if I'm 10m away from the router. Third, downloading issues. For whatever reason, there are some files I cannot finish downloading. Even if the WiFi is slow because of the issue above, it shouldn't matter when I reach 100% download progress. For reproducing purpose, the file I tried to download is https://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/technology/epp/downloads/release/2018-12/R/eclipse-cpp-2018-12-R-win32-x86_64.zip. This file will always reach 100% and would scan for virus (if using Edge). It will stay that way for 30 minutes. I tried it with another browser (Vivaldi) and the same issue occurred. Not sure why this is the case. Fourth, battery. This laptop, like many new laptops nowadays, doesn't come with a removable battery. I expect that to remove it you will need technicians. So don't buy this and expect it to has removable batteries like past laptops in 2012. The capacity is pretty terrible though. From the look of it, every percentage on the battery = 1 minute. 100% = 100 minutes left. Normal browsing and you probably won't last more than two hours. Definitely not more than three. Plugging in to recharge gave an estimate of 3+ hours till full charge. Not sure if it's just my luck I got a bad battery or not. Finally, Lenovo and its software. The Lenovo Vantage program bundled in the laptop is similar to other brands and their maintenance software. Except for this Vantage program, it just looks like a huge useless ad. Can't go anywhere without it advertising itself about DashLane or some security software I don't need. The only thing I find useful in this program is their hardware and update scans, the rest look useless. Even their other small "features" that they have (WiFi security, Rapid charge, etc) look just as useless. There is nothing noticeable from using this Vantage bloatware. Attached is also a screenshot of the BIOS update prompt before I updated the BIOS on the machine. Notice all the typos. Is this what an official product of Lenovo looks like? Maybe that is the quality I should be expecting out of Lenovo. This is a new low even for bloatware. All of those really made a bad experience for this laptop, and for the brand. Not gonna buy another Lenovo product, if they can't even get their software and a laptop of this price range working properly. Even cheap 2012 laptops I bought from Walmart performed more consistently.

This is an update of my former three star review. After following the directions to update my system my camera is working again. Thank you for responding to my comment and giving me a solution to the problem. This is my first Lenovo laptop and the reason I bought it was to multitask with it. I frequently use YouTube, Microsoft Word, Gmail, and my video editing software all at the same time with ease. This laptop is fast it doesn't lag too often unless I'm going overboard with too many tabs. The great things: Very sleek and professional looking laptop, fast, good HD camera, great at multitasking, screen is large (great for watching videos or playing games), keyboard has big buttons that are easy to press & large numbers and symbols that you can actually read. The inconveniences: No CD Rom, no backlit keyboard, the touchpad is very sensitive (I bought a laser mouse and mousepad when I made the laptop purchase), the speakers are ok. Except you can hardly hear certain videos even with 100% volume and minimum background noise. The speakers are under the laptop so I dont know if that's why. However that is a minor issue. Also there are only 2 USB ports one on each side. So if you need need more than 2 USB ports you may want to buy a USB hub. Overall I LOVE it honestly. It's my first Lenovo laptop and I am completely satisfied with my purchase. I did wish there was a CD Rom though since I had to return my video software CD and buy the digital version. However, I'm excited to use my new laptop for school and for my own personal hobbies. Mostly everything is digital these days so if you need a CD Rom I'd consider another laptop.

Thank you for your update. We are pleased to hear that the solution we provided earlier fixed the issue you were having with your web cam. Regarding the touchpad sensitivity, you can make adjustments to the touchpad in your system settings. You can get there by clicking on the magnifying glass at the bottom left of your Windows 10 screen. Type "touchpad" in the search window. Select "Mouse & touchpad settings" from the list of choices. You can make general adjustments to the touchpad there. You can also select "Additional mouse options" for more detailed adjustments to the touchpad sensitivity by increasing the delay of the touchpad. The IdeaPad 330s-15 ships with stereo 2W speakers and Dolby Audio Premium sound enhancement software. For the best audio experience, be sure Dolby Audio Premium is turned on and adjusted to your personal preferences. If you have questions about your Lenovo IdeaPad 330s-15 laptop, ask your questions here or call Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. Lenovo

A week before the President's day sale, my dad's Dell Laptop had an update that ended up wiping his Hard Drive and he could no longer connect to our newly updated Wifi. I decided to go look at some laptops while working and liked the look and feel of the Lenovo, so I bought it for my dad. He was surprised at how fast it booted up and how it handled some of his games (I was pretty surprised and happy too). I have looked at bad reviews on here for this laptop and it seems that too many people complain about issues that are fixed by some simple searching, but, I decided since my dad's computer now has been good to him for a week that, heck, I might as well pick one up too to use for college. I love the screen and the laptop is decently quiet, I would say that it's a huge difference compared to the laptops I have had in the past. I got the Geek Squad Protection Plan on both for a few years because with almost any laptop you never know what might happen. So far, I think that this is the best value laptop out there for simple people who don't need a gaming machine, but it does run some games surprisingly, so for that I really do love it. Buy it if you are looking for a sleek and fast laptop. Completely boots up in under 15 seconds too.

I have not had this laptop for more than 2 weeks yet and I have not had an issue with the laptop really up until now. I use the built-in camera for Youtube as it works better than my USB HD webcam. I turned the camera on to start recording and each time it stated Error code 0xA00F429D However the microphone was not muted and I checked all the settings and they were fine. I spent hard earned money to invest in my future and this laptop was fine up until now. I even restarted and then shutdown and restarted the laptop and the same error appeared. I refused to spend money to get it fixed. Besides that some glitches when using my video editing software and I had to buy a separate laser mouse because this touchpad is not the best. The laptop's speed is awesome, it's great for Microsoft word and internet searching and it looks great but I am disappointed that I am already getting error messages with the camera I depended on. Also, my system just updated yesterday. I do not know what's wrong with it. I will just return it.

I’m an Automotive Tech and I got this laptop to help me diagnose and fix vehicles. The stock 8gb memory definitely kept up with the live data and multiple screens I need to monitor certain sensors and modules at the same time. I did though however upgrade the one removable memory card (since the laptop was on sale and I had a few extra bucks) to an 8gb to give me a total of 12gbs of Memory and now it’s even faster. The 16gb Optane Memory that assist the regular 1Tb HDD is also a big plus and you can definitely tell it’s there helping. I believe that’s upgradable to a 32gbs as well but I’m not 100% sure I should even mess with that yet because it’s so fast already. I bought an Open Boxed Geek Squad certified one and I have no complaints especially with the price. Since I got it so cheap I feel like I stole this laptop because it is worth every penny of the MSRP price, So thanks Best Buy. The graphic card description needs to be updated here in the first product description and at Lenovo’s website because it’s says it has an AMD graphics card at both of those spots but All other specs/descriptions say it has an Intel Uhd Card which is what mine has (I had my fingers crossed though when I checked because that would of made this laptop even better) So get this laptop, if you’re looking for a well priced laptop that runs and feels like a high priced laptop.

I bought this laptop while it was on sale. The full HD IPS display is crisp, but the colors are weak, and it could be brighter. Touchpad is very good, and keyboard is decent, with little flex. I replaced the HD with a NVME SSD, so my experience is not based on stock configuration. I have a triple-boot setup, Windows 10, Linux Mint, and Kubuntu. it runs all three operating systems very well. Performance with the I5 is actually better than I expected. Fan noise and heat are minimal. Biggest issue I have with the 330S is with the wimpy 2-cell battery. For me, two hours use on the battery is about it. I wouldn't buy this model to play PC games, The Intel graphics performance is weak. All that said, I'm very satisfied with my 330S.

I bought this Lenovo 330S-15IKB at Best Buy online and picked it up in store. I set it up the first day, and it was fine. On day 2, it ran a Lenovo BIOS update, and locked up on the "Preparing Automatic Repair" screen for several hours. I took it in to Geek Squad. They said it was very difficult to fix, and gave me an exchange at no charge. The 2nd machine had the exact same problem, so I returned it and got my money back. Now I will buy a different brand. But the Best Buy service and Geek Squad people were very friendly and helpful. So no problem buying from Best Buy.

This laptop is killer, for the price i5 with 8gb or ram and 16gb of Intel optane, this thing is great it does have some drawbacks as the Intel UHD 600 graphics aren't nearly enough to even run games such as Minecraft above 35fps, if this model had maybe a mx150 you or even a 1050 it would be a perfect laptop, I got this one on sale for around 350 I belive. It has an amazing display I love the non gloss finish, battery life is meh but it gets the job done I haven't experienced any crashes or anything not running is at should as long as we're not talking about graphics, I've red some reviews about a whistling sound when you run the machine for a little while and I do heat it it's not enough to.be noticeable, it does what I need it to do (recording and mixing audio)

I intended on purchasing an HP Laptop to replace the one that just quit on me but the ones that I wanted were both out-of-stock. The sales guy suggested the Lenovo PC which is a first time purchase for me. I've been using it for about a month now. All is well and I'm really enjoying my purchase. I use the PC for basic functions and video streaming. I had the Geek Squad do the set up with Windows 10 and I had very little to figure out how to work when I got it home. Still working on getting the hang of the flat touch pad. My last one had pad and two front buttons. I'm pleased with the screen display, sound quality, quick start, ease of use and speed. I do find myself recharging the battery often but it charges up in reasonable time. All in all, I really like my purchase.

I purchased this laptop after my HP decided to quit on me 3 months post purchase. While I am highly impressed with the speed, graphics, and storage, the battery life is what knocked this 5 star rating down to a 4. I have all the energy saving options on, yet I cannot go more than 2 hours without having to charge this thing. It's really inconvenient when I want to go places with it. So if you're looking for a laptop that has good battery life, do not pick this one, or you will be disappointed. Otherwise, if you're looking for a laptop and you do not mind having to charge it almost constantly, this one may be it for you.

I have a Lenovo desktop that I bought a couple of years ago, but I'm completely sold on the power of the laptop lol.......I take this thing everywhere! I use it for my everyday personal uses such as web-surfing, as well as my everyday business uses, especially all of the Microsoft applications. Did I mention gaming?......oh how I love my games lol!!!! It's a wonderful laptop at a great price and has a very good storage capacity. I really liked this laptop when I purchased it, but I never got to really enjoy it because the battery wouldn't charge. When I placed the mouse cursor over the battery icon on the system tray, it would say, "Plugged In, Not Charging". I updated the BIOS and it charged for a few hours and then reverted to the same problem Then, when I decided to return it to the store where I bought it, I was unable to reset the laptop to new condition. Even the Geek Squad agents at the store couldn't perform a PC Reset using either the Window Setup or the button on the side of the laptop. I deleted everything I could and left it with them with the assurance they would wipe the hard drive.

I purchased this mainly to use it for hp tuners software to tune my car. It’s workibg perfectly with it. I also surf the web. Read forums and buy stuff. eBay and all that good stuff. YouTube stream just fine. Nothing to crazy and just what I needed. Can’t complain about the speed as all the specs are double that of my old pc I replaced with this. Overall I am happy with it. I am not experiencing any noises out of mine as read in other reviews. I waited a month or so to see if it would happen as I’m using this inside and outside by the vechile. Moving around a lot and no noises. All is doing well. Pretty good battery life as well and that was important to me.

After my Dell Inspiron 5575 died after only 3 years, I had my mind made up to get the ASUS Vivobook F510UA until I saw this as an open-box bargain while walking around Best Buy. I really like the Lenovo setup, this is my first Lenovo. It doesn't have SSD but it does have 16gb Intel Optane, I won't pretend to know what that is, but it does boot up fast. This laptop is fast in general. I am very impressed with the screen, I didn't expect it to be so bright and sharp. I haven't run into any issues yet. Only things I wish it had were fingerprint reader and dedicated graphics, but for what I paid I got a great deal.

Thank you for choosing the lenovo IdeaPad 330-15 laptop. As you point out, this configuration ships with 16GB of Intel Optane Memory. This solid state memory supports the 1TB standard hard drive. The Optane Memory keeps an image of the Windows 10 operating system on it which provides boot up from off to the Windows 10 desktop in less than 10 seconds. The Optane memory learns which files and programs the specific user uses the most and provides fast recall of those most used files and programs. There is an IPS LCD w/LED Backlight (Anti-glare) screen, with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 (FHD) and a brightness level of 250 nits. Graphics processing within this configuration is integrated within the Intel Core i5-8250U processor. It is the Intel UHD Graphics 620 version. Lenovo

The optane RAM really made a difference! I compared it to a similar laptop that doesn’t have the optane RAM, and the difference between them: this laptop is about 5 times faster! Really fast startup! I clocked in 14 seconds. And the laptop looks solid! I appreciate the thin bezel which makes the screen looks larger. And because of the housing, this 15” laptop is smaller than other 15” in the market. Quite light for me. Not the best battery life, but c’mon, it’s a laptop! Took me a while to find the right laptop for college, and I’m glad I found what I believe as the middle ground for affordability & performance!

Terrible battery life. Lucky to get a few hours out of it at the very most. Terrible wi-fi connectivity. Much slower than any of my other devices. Terrible compatibility. Purchased this to use in conjunction with an Elgato streaming box and it makes the microphone and video quality absolutely terrible, even though this laptop supposedly meets the minimum requirements to work with an Elgato. Would not recommend this laptop to anyone, especially for the price they are charging for it. Not even close to being worth it.

The IdeaPad 330s-15 ships with the latest 5G 802.11AC frequency WiFi - The fastest currently available. We always recommend you check the requirements and compatibility of any hardware/software you will need to use on your new computer, before you invest. Be sure your new computer will do the work you want to do, before you invest in any new computer. Check to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10 and the supporting BIOS and driver files on the computer. You can easily do this by scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software installed on the device. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. If the issue still continues after these updates, we recommend you call Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686 for additional help. Computer is lightweight, fast and has really good specs for the price. My biggest con and reason for returning is the battery life. Its touted as having a 6hr battery life this is 100% false. While running a balanced power-plan at 45% brightness i struggled to get 3hrs of battery life out of this device on a full change. I needed this device to last at least the described 6 hours, to which it failed. If you're ok with 2 hours needed for a full charge and 3 hours of total usage while off the charge then this device can work for you.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 330s-15 laptop ships with a 2CELL 30WH, Lithium Polymer battery, with a battery life of up to 7 hours, depending on the work that the device is performing. What drew me to this laptop was the Intel Optane feature. I have never owned a device with SSD technology before and WOW it makes a difference. The boot time on this thing is unbelievable. That alone sold me on it at the store. I love that it still has 1TB of storage too. Design on it is very nice, love the aluminum lid. As other reviewers have mentioned, the speakers aren't great but let's be honest they're laptop speakers. I bought this for the Intel I5, the Intel Optane, the 1TB drive, and the overall design. For me it exceeds all my criteria and I love it.

I really like this laptop! It is quick and capable for the tasks I need to complete (Office, internet, simple games, music, videos). I have one gripe: the USB-C port does not support charging. I use a compatible dock that supplies video/monitor and internet connections, but will not charge the laptop. I read after purchasing on Lenovo’s website that only their more pricey models support that feature. I thought USB-C was all the same, but apparently I was wrong. Overall I would recommend this laptop, as long as that is not a feature that you are needing.

I bought this laptop to replace an HP laptop. The HP was 8 years old and still had a lot of life left, but the frame split open. There were exposed wires and the display had a black corner. Purchased the Lenovo on 02/14/19. So far I like every feature. I'm not a techy, The speed is excellent for me. I love the larger display. It is very sharp and color saturated. It has a lot of memory for me to store pictures and documents. It's a little lighter than the HP. Will carry it with me on road trips. Best Buy Geek Squad gives excellent service.
