Best Chromebook made to date

Many reviewers have labelled this model as the best Chromebook ever made. I concur. The OLED screen is wonderful. The processor is very quick and responsive. The keyboard is great. I have noted a decrease in my typos. The trackpad is smooth and responsive, and a good size. Battery life is phenomenal. I often get two days of significant usage. Build quality is excellent. Since I can accomplish everything I need to with the Chromebook, I find I prefer using it over my Windows 11 desktop.

The Lenovo Chromebook Plus is the best Chromebook I've ever used. It uses the best processor available for a Chromebook, the OLED screen is beautiful, the touch pad and keyboard are both great to use, and the build quality is top notch. The battery lasts over two full days of use. Highly recommended.

Fast Processor Ideal for Gemini Power Users

Good points: Lightning fast processor ideal for deep research tasks with Gemini; vibrant screen; solid construction; excellent volume on speakers (though "Atmos" on a laptop is a silly gimmick - you'll wanna turn off spatial audio); shockingly great battery life.
Features that aren't flaws but might take getting used to: keyboard has a slippery feel; functions assignments are great once they're second nature, but took me a couple days to get there; fingerprint scanner didn't work well for me at first but I "retrained" it and now it works fine.

My previous Chromebook was the 3rd generation Acer Spin 713 with the 11th generation Core i5 , 8 gigs of RAM, and a 2K display. That Chromebook was lightning fast and had an amazing, sharp, and super bright display. Unfortunately, it missed the "Chromebook Plus" software designation. This Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14 is faster, especially with Android apps. The Kompanio Ultra 910 with 16 gigs of RAM is no joke. The display, although less in overall resolution, is just as good looking and seems a bit brighter than the 713.
The battery life of the Lenovo is at a completely different level when compared to the 713, thanks to the efficiency of the 3nm processor. I often go 3 days without charging it. Standby battery life is insane. The keyboard feels great, the chassis is smooth and sturdy, and it certainly feels more refined than the 713, which is no slouch in with its all-aluminum build. The Lenovo's fingerprint scanner is a very nice bonus feature. The software experience is much better on the Lenovo due to the "Chromebook Plus" features. AI summaries of web pages and articles is my most used feature. The speakers are the best I've had on a clamshell, and the web cam is very good. The only 2 metrics in which the Acer 713 has superiority was with the ports and its ability to convert to a tablet (which I never used). In particular, it boasted 2 Thundebolt 4 USB Type C ports, whereas the Lenovo's 2 Type C ports are only USB 3.2, and only the one on the right can output 4K at 60 Hz. Besides that, it is superior in all other benchmarks. The Lenovo Chromebook 14 Plus has it all: amazing performance, great display and sound, amazing battery life, and the best ChromeOS software experience available.

I'm happy to have another solid premium Chromebook

I am a longtime Chromebook user. When the Pixelbook Go I bought in 2019 started to act up last year, I could not find what I considered an attractive premium Chromebook. Instead, I reluctantly bought an Asus Zenbook A14 with a Snapdragon X chip. A Windows machine, I know, but it was supposed to be quick and have a very long battery life. It's a decent laptop, but Windows is a pain. I'm not a sophisticated user, but I keep a LOT of tabs open. The Zenbook and this Chromebook Plus are both 16GB machines, but often I would open the Zenbook and it would freeze for a minute or two. And I could not get comfortable manipulating the touchpad. After several months I was frustrated enough to buy this well-reviewed Lenovo Chromebook Plus, and I am very happy with it. Great touchscreen, long battery life, good fit and finish. And most importantly, even with 30 or so tabs open, it comes to life instantly when I open the lid. Just the Chromebook experience I was missing.

When you're considering the Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14, you really need to compare it with the standard MacBook Air M4, as they fall into a similar price range and have similar build quality. My personal preference for the ChromeOS computing style over macOS ultimately led me to choose the Chromebook.
I'm particularly drawn to ChromeOS for a few key reasons: the update process is incredibly unintrusive, and its default security posture is remarkably robust. I'm also deeply integrated into the Chrome and Android Google ecosystem, which I prefer to Apple's equivalent.
My typical workload involves media consumption, light development, network analysis (using tools like Wireshark to process pre-captured files), and various internet browser-based applications. The combination of the Linux Development Environment and the available tools within it allows me to be productive across the vast majority of my professional and personal activities. While I do some light video capture and editing (mostly cropping), I have to switch to another platform for anything more complex.
Regarding the hardware and software of this specific system, I agree with other reviews that praise the screen, speakers, performance, and battery life. While the official battery life is rated at 17 hours, my real-world use cases yield about 12-14 hours with the screen at 50% brightness. I would have liked the speakers to be just a bit louder, but they are otherwise quite good. The keyboard, trackpad, and fingerprint scanner all function as expected and are a pleasure to use. The system runs cool and quiet, which, combined with the solid battery life and power, is why I consider this the best ChromeOS platform available right now.
If you are not a ChromeOS/Android-oriented user like I am or if you need to do more complicated tasks such as professional video editing, the MacBook Air M4 would be a better fit. However, for a dedicated ChromeOS user, this is a delightful laptop and, in my opinion, the best choice in its class.

Probably the best Chromebook on the market. Easily the best keyboard, great speed, battery life, display, and build quality. The only downside is the ARM CPU architecture limits the Linux applications you can use via crostini as some big ones do not have Linux arm builds yet.

I finally upgraded from my Pixelbook Go for this one. I had been waiting for a Chromebook with a good ARM chip, high ram, a nice bright display and good speakers. That was the main reason I waited so long to upgrade from my Pixelbook Go because it had nice loud speakers that didn't sound like garbage. The Dolby speakers on this didn't disappoint. Mind you, it is still a laptop but for a laptop it sounds pretty excellent. You even get a bit of the surround sound vibe. The battery life is a crazy good 15 plus hours if you don't keep the screen at Max brightness. If you have it on Max brightness, you still get pretty good battery life, a solid 8 to 10 hours. The screen is great looking and the processor with the ram keeps everything running really snappy. I even took it with me camping and watched a movie on it one night and I couldn't have asked for anything better.

Changed my whole perspective!

I’ve witnessed both my kids struggle with school-issued Chromebooks for the past decade, and even purchased two “good ones” for them during the pandemic. I was issued one as an educator, and ended up BYOD because the user experience was so poor. In my experience, Chromebooks and ChromeOS were for tight institutional budgets that couldn’t afford “real” technology.
However.
I stumbled on an article about the Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14 shortly after its release in June of this year. It was intriguing, and because I have a Google Workspace admin account for my business, I decided to try it out. WOW. I have been so pleasantly surprised by this one.
Firstly, I had to set aside expectations that the user experience would be super premium—that’s not what Chromebooks do or what they’re intended for. The hardware specs aren’t what you’d see for a high end Mac or Windows PC, but they don’t need to be—ChromeOS doesn’t require a ton of processing power and since it’s not really a creative or gaming laptop, a 60Hz refresh rate is just fine. On this machine, it’s better than fine because the touch display is gorgeous. It also has an anti-reflective coating which is a must for me because reflections drive me crazy.
I love Lenovo hardware in general: keyboards, trackpads, displays… imo Lenovo crushes it. This Chromebook is no different. The keyboard is comfortable, has great travel, and a lovely yet quiet click. The trackpad is silky smooth and is precise and responsive with excellent palm rejection. The aluminum chassis is light yet durable, and the seashell color is beautiful.
Getting started on this machine out of the box took about 45 seconds and required nothing other than signing in to my Google account. For anyone who’s suffered the nightmare of a Windows setup, this is like other-dimensional. ChromeOS is so light and simple and the Google ecosystem is so integrated that it echoes my beloved Apple ecosystem and “just works.”
The battery life is fantastic, performance is snappy, and Google is killing the AI game, blowing away Apple and giving Copilot a run for its money. The grouping feature is very cool—Google AI automatically organizes everything for me so I don’t have to think about it. Anyone who’s used Chrome knows about the chaos of 40 open tabs… at the time of writing, this feature is currently only available on this machine.
The only problem is that it’s all web-based, and I can’t do everything I need to do in web apps and PWAs. Professionally and academically I spend most of my time in the 365 environment and the Chromebook doesn’t 100% cut it. I can’t use it exclusively. However, if your use case is productivity and moderate to light multitasking, web-based apps, and internet browsing, this machine is more than adequate. Split screen and window snapping works really well.
TLDR: I love this laptop for many reasons, and it’s completely changed my view of what a Chromebook is and what it can do. Highly recommend!

This Chromebook has been great over the past month that I've had it. The OLED screen and long-lasting battery make it the perfect companion for work or play. Despite owning a Windows desktop and a Mac, this Chromebook has become my go-to device.
Compared to my previous Chromebook, the Duet 5, the Linux container starts much faster and apps run smoother.

The battery on this thing seems to last forever compared to my old laptop! The speed is phenomenal, the only time I managed to bog it down was while doing a CPU test and trying to read a PDF on it at the same time. It starts in seconds with very little fuss. Not to mention the screen, it has easily become my favorite screen to do anything on. The only downside is there is not a ton of Linux applications that work for ARM based chipsets.

Replaced my Pixelbook and this one really is the best Chromebook to buy right now (cross shopped the MacBook Air). Super smooth performance so far and really surprised how good the speakers are, rivals the MacBook Air speakers. Keyboard also has a good feel and click depth. Trackpad also super smooth but the click mechanism is just ok, but I use tap to click anyway. OLED screen also is quite beautiful even though it's 60Hz (MacBook Air also 60Hz to be fair). I also had to go into the store to get the feel of typing on it and there's a thing I noticed between some new computers - sharp edges that hurt my wrists. The MacBook Air is very good but man the edges are sharp - but this laptop has more of a rounded corner that feels way better to type in for long sessions. Speaking of long sessions, battery life for me has been over 12 hours of actual use easily. I try to keep the battery between 20-80% though for better battery health. Elephant in the room is the price. Could you get a better full featured computer for this price? Absolutely and if you want that then go for it. If you like and want a Chromebook though, this is the best out there as of September 2025 but it's pretty pricey - $600 feels like it would've been a better price but it's my daily driver for the next 8 years so not too big of a deal to me.

I've owned 4 other Chromebooks and this is best one yet. It's fast, well built with a great screen, touchpad, keyboard, AND amazing battery life. I use linux crostini a lot so I only got it because of the 16 gb ram. I also appreciate the fingerprint reader. The one caveat I have is it doesn't have USB4 (thunderbolt) ports. But on the other hand when plugged into my OWC thunderbolt dock using the port on the right side, I do get 4k 60hz resolution on my external monitor.

I've been using Chromebooks since 2010 and have owned premium devices during this time. The Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14 is better than all we have owned. Everything is so snappy, but at the same time, it has great battery life. It's one of 3 premium chromebooks currently in the house and if we need to replace one of the other 2, It will be with another Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14.
