Just what I needed in a new PC

I resisted buying anything that went into Windows 7 or 8. I was happy w/ my dinosaur Windows XP. The Geek Woman programmed this new PC set it up so that it essentially mimics X P & is essentially intuitively obvious to use. Ditto for the MS Word 2013. It is lightyears beyond the Wordperfect 6 that I was using & again is reasonably intuitively obvious to work with. My requirements for help have been minimal & I have significantly improved computer capability & flexibility. I'm now glad that my old XP went belly up - but not WHEN it did - just when I was starting a major project requiring a PC. But - OTOH, had it not done so, I'd be mired in the mud wearing hard hat diver's boots.

    Great general purpose computer

Bought this for my vision-impaired stepmom because her 10-year old Sony VAIO died. She was terrified to transition from XP to Win 8.1, but, with Classic Shell and Windows accessibility options, we were able to make the screen images the same size and same layout as that of her old computer. The transition thus has been seamless. I set up the computer so I could manage it remotely if need be, but, surprisingly to me, my stepmom says it has not crashed or required intervention at all. When I have checked remotely, nothing is out of whack. Of course, had there been messups or instability, I would have assumed it was her operator error, but my own experience with a more expensive Dell only a few months older established that an assumption like that might not be merited: there was much corruption that occurred when Win 8 upgraded to 8.1 that the unit was unstable for a month and had to be restored to factory state; nothing comparable occurred here. I have no criticisms of the unit that are meaningful. I think the case is ugly but that's not a reason to criticize the computer. Also, this might not be a great gaming machine with system board video, but, then again, not everyone needs great game performance. I deducted one star in the review because this won't keep up with an i7 with 16gb RAM, an SSD, and a separate video card. Then again, it's not priced that way, either. In short, it's been the perfect machine for its intended use.

My opinion is that a tower is still the work horse and wanted to replace my XP tower and upgrade. I have a Windows 7 and a Windows 8 laptop so working with Windows 8.1 is not new to me. Easy to use and more then adequate for my needs as far as file storage and photographic needs. Excellent value, easy to use and the keyboard has a nice feel and touch. Although mine is hard wired it works great as a wireless as well which I did during set up.

I went from 520 MG Memory on old computer to 6 GB Memory on new computer. Old 240 MG hard drive, on new 1 TB. So I am enjoying the speed of the new computer so much. I can't believe I struggled with the old computer so long. But was forced to get a new one when the Motherboard went out. Thank You to Tech support for all your help setting up Libre Office and Kaspersk before I took it home..I recommend this computer. Good Price and Good Performance.Lenovo Desktop Intel Core i3.. Love It.

My last Windows PC had a Pentium D processor. It was 9 yrs old. When I updated to Windows 8.1, I found Pentium D processors weren't fully supported. (Typical Microsoft thing.) This Lenovo is fast, almost silent and has easily accessible USBs and earphone jack. I don't game with it, so cannot speak to gaming speeds, etc.. However, my surfing speeds are lightening fast. HD video plays beautifully. Windows apps load quickly and work well. I bought this after I advised a friend to buy one. His was impressive, so I bought one too.

You get what you pay for, so don't expect miracles. in the price range under 500 it is the best choice. It is fast enough to do simple internet browsing as well as some picture editing. I bought it as a secondary station, but I am using it more often than I expected because it is faster than I expected. I would not recommend you to install a heavy anti virus / malwaer programs like Norton, it will slow it down, but webroot is fine.

Bought this for by brother in-law as a replacement for his old windows-XP dell tower. I connected it up to his old monitor, printer, and internet modem/router box without any difficulty. Also added a CD version of Microsoft office. Windows 8 is a pain to setup (insisting that everything go through Microsoft), but that's Windows 8. He's had the system about a month and has had no complaints, but he doesn't use it for much other than email and his kid's school info. Came with 1 month of Mcafee security software so we will have to switch to something else, maybe the Webroot that BBuy provided.

    quiet and speedy

Compared to my old desktop, this Lenovo tower is so quiet you barely know its on. It also seems to have enhanced speed from the time you turn it on to load as well as when loading apps and sites. I have another new laptop computer that does not load as quickly. The only negative thing I have to say is that it does not use adobe reader as its default program which is not really any different from the Lenovo program it uses, but every time I download something a window comes up to purchase the lenovo nitro-pro program which is annoying.

I am quite happy with my purchase of the Lenovo desktop. It has ample storage space, fast for what is inside and has plenty of room for me to upgrade with an SSD, more RAM and possibly a better Graphics card. I don't know what happened, but this one works well and had no hitches with BB messing up the order, but that's for another review. LOL

I've had a Dell for as long as I can remember but now I am a Lenovo convert. I hated that there was no Dell support in the United States and hope that won't be the case here but so far the machine is performing wonderfully.

Potential to be a good gaming rig if you add $

    |

It's a great starter computer for those that likes to crack things apart and and in their own custom components. 6GB RAM is beautiful. Add in a decent graphics card and SSD boot drive and you will have a very competitive mid-tier gaming rig. SSD will allow you to boot up Windows 10 in literally 8 seconds from when you press the power button. Very impressive.

I am very pleased with the Lenovo Desktop. It has some wonderful features and I am still in the process of discovering what it can do. One of the features I really enjoy is the wide selection of games. It even has my favorite solitaire.

    I Hate Win8!

I wanted to buy a computer that still had Win7, but alas, there are none at Best Buy. So I opted for this Lenovo after looking at many others with the sales person. I could not get my (not ancient) printer to hook up wirelessly. I tried another (not ancient printer) and the same thing. I would get a message telling me that my printer was too old, non-compatible.. So it is now wired. During the process to find updated drivers I started getting all kinds of junk popping up. This is not the fastest system. I was told it had a really good processor (Intel Pentium) and would be pretty fast. Not so.

Works fine so far (about 3 weeks)

So far the computer is working fine. Not a big fan of Windows 8.1 tho, it does take some getting used to. Programs seem to operate a bit differently in Win 8 vs Win 7 (like Photoshop). And my online email accounts don't seem to be compatible with Win 8 email software. No complaints about the Lenovo hardware tho.

We're so happy with our Lenovo. It processes so fast and my son is happy when he plays on-line. Finally, no more waiting for the computer to load or whenever we open the website.

This is a very good computer; however, the difficulty I am having with it (i.e. seems slow, and often loses internet connection) is on my internet provider end, along with my computer illiteracy. I will have a friend check it out and ensure I am using it to it's proper capabilities!
