    Exellent Laptop...this is a steal,

    Posted .

I saw this laptop on the BestBuy website and went into my local store to purchase it after confirming it was in stock. This laptop was so new that the display had not been set up in the store yet. So I bought it "blind" after looking at the photos online. I researched laptops heavily to fit my needs and this laptop met ALL my criteria 1) 15.6 Screen with 1080 HD display 2) Wireless AC 3) Gigabyte LAN (for quick file transfer via wired network) 4) Numerical keypad 5) Back-lit keyboard 6) Intel 4th generation processor 7) USB 3.0 8) 1TB HDD and 9) A reasonable price...at only $699 I am surprised I got all this! When I got this home, I was amazed at the build quality of this machine, seems very sturdy and the metal finished are very sleek. It was ready to go out of the box. Also, this laptop is very thin and fits nicely into my backpack. The keyboard is easy to type on and the mouse pad is not in the way like other laptops. I have to say so far I am very impressed with this machine, my only cons are 1) Fingerprints get everywhere and 2) It's slightly larger than other 15.6inch laptops.

    Very Close to perfect

    Posted .

Wow! This Lenovo Edge 15 inch is very close to being perfect for me. I have been searching for a touchscreen computer for a while. Tried HP and ASUS. Most had some issues or have been simply not good enough (sluggishness, can't properly dim the screen in the charms bar, hardware failure, poor trackpad#. Here's my quick take on the Lenovo Edge 15. I will not spend too much time on specs, you can read that in the specifications section of BestBuy. 1# Screen is crisp at HD resolution with good contrast and viewing angle #IPS#. 2# Brightness adjustment works as supposed to #I found at least 2 all-in-one units at BestBuy that you can’t adjust the brightness in the Charms Bar. 3# So far, no software updates - my unit was manufactured in Oct 2015 - it didn’t even need software update #or at least has not tell me that it is updating). 4) Good battery life. 5) Fast and responsive - and has an upgradable path. Has 6GB RAM but can go all the way up to 16GB. There are 2 memory slots in the machine. Strangely, they are mismatched pairs. 2GB + 4GB. The laptop has 1TB HD but can be changed to SSD in the future. The bottom side has simple screws that can be opened. 6) Trackpad works well for multiguestures #two fingers scrolling, tapping, etc). There is a slight "looseness" so the trackpad makes clicking sound upon tapping. 7) Quiet - fan is on sometimes, but not noticeable, HD runs quiet 8) Has AC wireless 9) Good keyboard with backlight 10) Very competitive pricing. I bought mine for $700 and worth every penny. 11) Speakers are good #but not exceptionally loud) Minor design issues that took it away from being perfect: 1) A bit on the heavy side - 5lbs #the laptop does not have DVD drive) 2) Slower HD than a high end unit - 5400rpm 3) Only 1 USB 3.0 port Overall, I am very satisfied with the laptop. I am not familiar with Lenovo, but seems like they are on top of the game. If this laptop lasts for more than 5 years, it will be very worth it. A very high recommendation!

    Glad I bought it

I looked high an low for a new laptop to replace my aging "compaq" with vista. Need I say more.....This Flex had everything I was looking for. Enough Ram but can upgrade, backlit keyboard, HD screen, AC wireless, full keyboard and so on. I do not have AC wireless at home yet. the signal was a bit funky, slow when you are far away from access point but updated drivers and no problem. Battery life is very good. it is a bit heavy but very SOLID. Touch screen was not something I thought I would use. Boy was I wrong, I use it all the time and love the fact that I can turn the laptop into a display pad. Really like the hinge. I find myself liking windows 8.1 more and more every day. Many very usable features. I actually love using it. That is my rant for now. Hope this helps your decision.

    Great Machine

This is a really sturdy laptop. Great job from Lenovo. I had gone through a HP and a Toshiba, both of which developed Touchpad/Trackpad problems. But this Lenovo works perfectly for my school work; also, having a one-year old son, I can work in the dark with the backlit keyboard without disturbing our baby. I only wish the screen turns all the way to tablet mode. But, hey, I can always get a tablet. Already, I am considering getting a Lenovo desktop based on my experience with this laptop.

    Seems like a good laptop.

This seems like a good laptop. I am still getting used to Windows 8, which has a bit of a learning curve. I had read that Lenovo has put quite a bit of bloatware on it, so I had to spend some time figuring out what I could remove. After several tries, I finally reached someone at Lenovo support to help me understand the programs so I could make a better judgment on what to remove (most reps had trouble understanding the concept).

    A positive first experience with a 2 in 1

Overall I have been pleased with my Lenovo 2 in 1. Touchscreen is great, nice size, fairly fast processor. Touchpad button (left click) can be a little jumpy at times and when I switch to tablet mode the automatic pop up keyboard keeps disappearing when I try to type in the password. Those are my only two complaints. I used it to play music at a dance through a sound system and the sound was great. Battery life is average.

Love the computer, but hate Windows 8!

I'm very happy with the computer's performance, although the keyboard takes some getting used to. It would be better if the display could lay flat like a tablet, but that's a small price to pay for getting everything else I wanted in a laptop. It is difficult to locate the old "desktop" with this touchscreen environment, but I'm hoping it is simply a new learning curve.

    A really nice computer

I love the computer, but Windows 8 takes some getting used to. I have pretty much figured out what I need. I am disappointed that it does not have CD capability. I do not want to spend more $ getting one to connect to this computer. But, I am told that most of the newer computers do not come with CD capability.

An excellent laptop that is used daily

We actually got 2, I selected mine after working with a Best Buy associate and going with their recommendation. My wife took the same model as well to replace an older one. Love the light weight, screen clarity, and keyboard back lights. Very thin, and the generous palm area is most comfortable. Still learning the windows 8 program, but the 8.1 program and geek squad help has made it a quick transition. We are both very pleased with their function and performance.

    Overall a great laptop

    |

We find the laptop to be very user friendly with plenty of memory and a great touch screen. The only two issues are the sensitivity of the mouse (it often shrinks the size of the font on the screen) as well as the difficulty connecting it to our Canon wireless printer. Other than that a very good laptop.

Easy to set up and use. Great for highschoolers.

Perfect computer for school use. Lightweight. Fairly fast. Wish the screen folded flat like a tablet as this could cause damage if someone unfamiliar tries to do so. Touch screen gives additional functionality. Did receive notice of a software glitch to be corrected since purchase a short time ago.

    The Parents Love It

Purchased for my parents who needed a desktop replacement and something to take overseas with them. I liked the screen size, display, memory, hard drive, and touchscreen. They love it so far. I'm a more advanced user and will definitely consider Lenovo (IBM) when I need to replace my laptop.

This is an excellent computer. Just a little confused with the touch screen tho. I would have preferred a regular home page instead of many options that half I have no idea what they are for. Overall I would definitely recommend it. I always buy Dell and glad I chose this one so far

Nice Toshiba for my 13 year old daughter

I searched for a 15"-16" touchscreen laptop so my daughter an use for her school and homework. This laptop fits the bill perfectly. Daughter loves it and screen digs the touchscreen part. She also plays games with it online. We removed the adware/blotware. Installed our own Antispyware, Antivirus and MS Office software. Will likely update the memory and add a backup drive/online backup in the near future. Great value from Best Buy

Really had a problem initially using email, excel form and word, b/c the cursor kept jumping all over the place. Took it into Geek Squad who did adjust some other settings for me, but the cursor was still a problem. I went into settings myself and kept tweaking sensitivity and other mouse and related things. I also retrained myself to keep my hands high above keyboard, like a piano player. Something seemed to help, though I'm not sure which setting change. It's also sometimes hard to tell whether a problem is related to the computer hardware, or the software, or ms windows 8, because it seems some irksome kinks are perhaps related to the touch function interacting with the cursor and the layout and the mouse settings.

How can I say a bad thing about this laptop? Oh, that's right, I cant. Best one I've had in years. Super lightweight, love the tablet mode and the glorious screen size is to die for. It helps so much in college, I can type, draw and use my own writing as well as voice record my lectures so I never miss a beat. It's really fast and the camera is great. Hands down great choice.

I really like this computer. It is light, sleek and fast. I also like that I can open it at 180 degrees to make it stand in case I want to use a keyboard and a mouse. The only thing I don't like is all the apps that Lenovo preloaded.

This was purchased for a family member who is over 80 and slightly disabled. Windows 8 with touch screen is great as long as you don't let all of your computer "expert" friends try to get away from Microsoft browser and accessories.

    Expected Performance and Strong Battery

    Posted .

We have enjoyed the laptop and are pleased enough with the performance. The touch screen is responsive but, of course, need to be cleaned regularly. The battery has been very strong, lasting a bit longer than advertised. The screen res. was a strong reason we chose this model and it looks great! If it was available in a 17" screen I would have chose that model.
