I've owned a LOT of laptops and the Lenovo is the best. It runs fast and is not very heavy (I move it around a lot).

    Great Laptop for Everything

    Posted .

I work in IT so I am very familiar with computers and laptops and specs and all that. This laptop has great specs for the price. I have been looking for an ultra book type laptop to replace my aging beast of a laptop. This is better in every way. I watch movies and listen to music and browse the internet. Perfect for all of it. When I watch movies I put it into stand mode and use the touch screen controls. Its great! The screen has great color and brightness and is very clear as it is high def. It does have some glare issues though but its nothing major. I like to play pc games as well and if you don't mind medium to high settings, not ultra, this will be fine for you. I run Diablo 3 at full resolution with medium/high settings and it runs fine. I don't mind some stutter now and again. Battery Life is why I only gave it 4 stars. If you are using it to browse the internet or the like you will get about 5 hours or so on it. Playing movies, like a blu ray disc using an external drive, you might get 3 to 4 (my external drive gets power from the laptop so I get closer to 3). Playing games you will get 2 or so depending on the game. Considering my old laptop lasts 30 minutes no matter what you do this is a big improvement but you can find laptops with better life. The screen is larger than most so battery is affected that way as well. I think this is a great laptop with many features for many different things. You can do anything with it as a pc with good results with plenty of storage for all of it and it is a good price for what you get.

    great computer

I've had this computer for a month now and mainly use it for astrophotography and processing images. Its been great for processing large images and running multiple programs controlling telescopes and other pieces of hardware. The touch screen is great and works perfectly. The aluminum case can get slippery and make it slip out of your hands, kind of wish it had some sort of thin rubber grip on the bottom to help hold it. My biggest complaint by far is the network card, simply put it's horrible. Anything more than 20 feet away from the wifi and the signal is very weak. It constantly goes into limited mode and needs to be reconnected to the internet. I have updated drivers, tried changing settings in power saver mode with no change. Finally I tried a different router than my Xfinity router and voila worked. Its now been perfect ever since. Would have rated 5 stars if it weren't for the horrible network card.

    Excellent Laptop

    Posted .

Excellent laptop with great specs and design. I got this laptop to replace my old HP G42 laptop and love it. I can easily watch HD videos, run Photoshop and Blender, and play Steam games such as L4D2, Half-Life 2, and Outlast on high graphics settings without lag or stress (which previously would completely crash my old laptop even on lower settings and I'm very excited that I'll finally be able to buy and play newer games). I was ambivalent about Windows 8.1 after having Windows 7 for so long, but I find it easy to use, personalize, and love the touch screen capabilities. Additionally, the Lenovo Edge has a 300 degree hinge so I enjoy that I can flip the screen back into stand mode to draw, watch Netflix, or sit in bed and use the touchscreen to navigate the web. This laptop is also sturdy enough even though it's so thin that I don't have to worry about roughing it up when taking it t class. It also has great battery life when it comes to web-browsing and word processing (I have not yet had to worry about plugging in somewhere during my six hour school days) - HD video streaming and gaming obviously drains the battery much faster but I've still been fine for three hours before plugging in. The only con I have for this laptop is no CD/DVD drive, but it's not too much of a concern in this day and age with digital delivery and downloads. All in all, I give this laptop five stars and two thumbs up.

    Great overall laptop

Hello, My review will be pretty short but I'll try to describe the laptop as best as possible. First of all let's start with the good things: - The built materials are great (it looks & feels like an premium laptop) - The touch screen is great and in dedicated touch screen mode is very nice & easy to use - The back-lit keyboard is very nice (3 modes: off, on, on-high) - In normal use the temperature is very low on the laptop - The speed of the laptop is great (8GB memory with Intel i7 model) Now to the bad side: - The laptop has an HDD of 5400 rmp - ugrading to an SSD will be an great improvement, but will actually add some cost to the laptop (personally recommend 250+ SSD) - Only 8 GB of memory - this model could have come with 16 GB from beginning (upgrading to 16GB will require to buy two 8GB memories as the current memory is made from two 4GB memories, thus will add some cost to the laptop) - The battery life is very short - only 3-4 hours on normal usage, nothing really heavy

    Good computer to grow into

This was probably more computer than my kids needed (elementary age) but it does seem like it will last and they can grow into it. As they move into middle school and want to do more with tech this computer should be able to keep up. Windows 8 has been more of an adjustment for me but they have no trouble navigating between all the screens. They both use an external mouse to play games vs the touch pad or touch screen. We bought a small wireless mouse that they use on the space right next to the keyboard. They navigate mostly with the touch screen though. I do think they are a little large and heavy to really be transportable on a regular basis. It has a 10 key number pad which I think really adds to the weight and size. Tablets are much easier to use on trips and take to friend's houses but they'd rather take their laptops.

Welcome to 2015! Great new laptop. New experience.

This laptop was ready to go out of the box, AFTER I paid or all the software and had the Geeks install it. The software was surprisingly expensive, although they did price match Photoshop Lightroom. I keep forgetting that this has a touchscreen. My last new computer was an Acer Aspire One Netbook, so I'm definitely coming out of the dark ages. The screen resolution is terrific. I use this primarily for editing photographs, so the screen was extremely important. So is the 1TB hard drive that stores my photos work before they're edited. The home screen is easy to adjust to my likings. F11 does not expand the screen on the internet and I still haven't figured out haw to make that happen. I will update this review once I'm more practiced with its use.

    Nice Computer

So, I bought this computer to replace a very terrible Vaio. It's been about two and a half months since I brought this computer home and it has served me well enough. Windows 8.1 works well once I got to know it (coming from 7 myself). I'm surprised by the lag of this computer at times, and seeing as I've been very gentle on it, I find it a little disturbing. For some light photoshop, gaming, Internet surfing, and video and music streaming I find this to be a good laptop. Perhaps a bit TOO expensive for what I use it for, but I wanted something to last for a long time, and I've had great experiences with Lenovo in the past. Also, the charge cord is super sturdy! That was the destroyer of my last Lenovo, thanks to a horrible roommate.

Great laptop for the road warrior

Lightweight, outstanding screen quality with 1080 video, great keyboard (lighted), not necessarily the most powerful of processors but for every day use it is more than adequate and for the tasks that I perform daily it meets or exceeds my expectations (I knew what I was buying). Nobody is EVER satisfied with battery life, but 6 - 8 hrs of Netflix or Hulu is more than I could have expected, just don't think you will get the same battery life as a tablet. If you are interested in a laptop that doesn't make one arm longer than the other, then I most definitely recommend this product for anyone that needs a no-nonsense machine that will not let them down, and have all of this in a more than presentable package (beautiful machine).

Awesome Laptop, but no disc drive

    |
    Posted .

I bought this laptop with Lenovo brand name on it for a reason. It has the specs and processor I required. All in all so far it does what I need. But I only gave it 4 out of 5 stars because I needed a disc drive for cd's. For this I had to spend additional money and buy an external drive. I know, I know, with it's size and slim line feature it may not be possible to fit in there, but can they try ? Maybe they could give a package deal with one included even if it is an external drive. Lenovo makes a great product, but Hey......Just give us a little concession for our money.

I've never owned a computer with an i7 before. This laptop is fast and powerful. Although, it could use a better graphics card when it comes to gaming, I was able to get around 25-30 fps on most games which is better than I was able to get on my home pc. I usually play games on Playstation 4 and this laptop puts out great videos when using my elgato hd60. The touchscreen is crisp and fun to use, just turn off the laptop for about 30 minutes before attempting to clean the screen. I tried to clean it with it on and it froze my cursor in one position but after I restarted it, it worked fine. There are a ton of great apps in the Windows Store on 8.1, everything from Netflix and hulu to music and video editing software. In summation, if I was giving this laptop a 1-100 rating I would give it a 93-97 only because of the graphics card, it could use a little more power in that area. It was a decent price but after I paid the taxes and bought the best buy protection plan I had spent close to $1200 which is close to what I would have spent trying to upgrade my home pc. Other than the price, this multimedia workhorse is powerful whether it's used for school, a job/hobby or just for fun

When I found out Sony was out of the laptop business I was disappointed as their systems were reliable and well crafted. Reluctantly I looked at other brands. I wanted something with strong capabiltiies for occasional Minecraft and other similar games with a full keyboard in a 15 inch screen. In my mind I compared the screen capability to our MacBook Pro with a retina display. This display is not quite as bright or clear, but the system was hundreds of dollars less. For those of us with older eyes, screen clarity really counts. The touch screen makes 8.1 easier to navigate, although I admit that I still have screens flying by me from time to time, but that is not the fault of the computer -- just me figuring out 8.1 Overall, I really like the machine. I ended up buying 2 as my son migrates away from the Macpro. The warranty deal is wonderful. Water damage on the macbook pro cost us $1,000. With BB water damage related costs would be $0. I wish I'd traded up sooner.

It backs a punch for a laptop

    Posted .

I bought this laptop as a back up for my desktop. I was able to download Battlefield 4 and World of Warcraft and play each at medium settings (frame rate ranged from 50 fps to 30 fps), well streaming Netflix in the background. That about sums up my use of this laptop. I have never used the theater version where you fold it back and flip it over. When gaming and run the computer at high performance at best I can get three hours of battery life when using it to game and play netflix at the same time. Other wise I'd say when running at full power I can get about six to seven hours out of the battery, of course I could turn down the display brightness but I did feel like it (that may have up'd my battery life by an hour or so.) I got over my dislike of Windows 8 (it comes with 8.1 preinstalled) I'm comfortable with it after just a few hours. Again this is a fantastic back up to my desktop computer.

Overall this is a superior package with adequate RAM and hard drive space for most applications. The touch screen is an essential component for fast transitions. The backlit keyboard is responsive and the touch pad with integrated left & right mouse keys is innovative and precise. IE crashes periodically, but I believe this is an issue with Windows 8. I will switch to Chrome and see if this helps. Sound quality is fine and easily adjusted with keyboard buttons. Screen is prone to producing glare from ambient light sources, but resolution is excellent with brightness also easily adjustable. Overall quality is excellent, no overheating, or buzzing fan noise, but I would prefer an internal optical drive for this price and if you don't need it to fold into a tent, there are cheaper packages. This is my first Lenovo (converting from HP... I fried two of them), so I will keep this one and look forward to better performance.

I like everything about this machine especially the build quality and the ability to upgrade the ram to 16 meg. I do not really care for the optimus software that controls the Nvidia 840 card included. The user should have the ability to choose usage anytime they want . My stock charting software does not seem to utilize the enhanced features to make trend lines more fluid and it is apparent.

It's a solid machine. Wife has been using it for photo editing running photoshop and its working flawlessly I'm a gamer and its been very good for that as well. I've been running Dragon Age Inquisition on it, no problems along with a few other games. It's not max graphics or anything but its middle of the road, its serviceable for the cost. All around happy with this purchase.

So far, very happy with this computer

Just starting to learn this computer (and, I am no techie!). It is a replacement for an ASUS that had a lot of problems. So far, I love this Lenovo (much better than the ASUS), but time will tell. The only negative, so far, is battery life isn't as long as I thought it would be, but that might be because I have no idea how to turn off things running in the background that may not be needed. So, I will go to my local Geek Squad (have their service contract...what a great deal!) and have them go over it. Love the way this computer works as a regular laptop or like a large tablet. Great color, clear screen viewing. Light weight, too. Will get back later with what my long-term evaluation is on this...after I have used it for awhile.

The Best Buy Sales Representative explained the limitations of the Lenovo Edge 15 in comparison to the higher end laptops with better dedicated graphics. I was not able to afford the high end laptop so I settled on the Edge 15 with its limitations. It performs the way the representative explained it and I got what I expected from the Lenovo Edge 15.

Once all updates are installed WiFi problems are mostly gone. May be a little slow at some distance from router. Performance is impacted by Windows 8.1. (Windows 7 much better) Lenovo software is poorly executed and does not include Media (CD Drivers) which are missing in Windows 8.1. In general poor software hurts excellent hardware.

I bought this to benefit my daughter's homeschool. Her curriculum is now portable which allows hands-on and experiential learning thru our travels as a family. This PC provides the storage for all her studies and easy usability. She requires a large screen for a vision disability and is totally satisfied with this size.
