I bought this in March and have found the RAM terribly inadequate (4 gig). Trying to get RAM upgrade has been tedious and, so far, unsuccessful. Best Buy does not have the RAM needed, nor can they get it. This web page's questions list three different capacities for upgrade: 8 gig (Lenovo rep), 18 gig (in the specs), and 32 gig (a user). I need at least 16 to run the programs I need. I would not buy this model again.

I needed a replacement PC for a old one I use for work. I don't need anything super powerful or anything with a graphics card. This fits the bill just fine. It's get enough power to access web pages and run office programs. The USB ports work, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth work and the CD drive works. The fans work and it's whisper quiet. It comes pre loaded with windows and didn't have any bloatware on it.

I was having problems with getting some of my software and external hardware systems to work properly ... and with trial and error persistence I identified the problem was caused by the McAfee anti-virus software that came with the computer. I use Avira and Malwarebytes ... and the McAfee anti-virus software was consuming RAM and preventing some of my software systems from working. After un-installing McAfee anti-virus software and keeping my Avira and Malwarebytes anti-virus software operational ... all of my problems disappeared. Removing the McAfee software freed up RAM and all software systems are now functioning normally.

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo IdeaCentre 310s Desktop, model number 90G90068U. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. Lenovo

I purchased this desktop specifically for my job to work from. It works fine. However, the only drawback is that is doesn't have a VGI port and Lenovo could have utilized one of the USB ports for a 2nd HDMI port because this desktop only has one. Most jobs require two monitors at your workstation. I had to buy a $45 adaptor to allow me to view both monitors with separate programs on each one of them.

It's a decent little desktop for everyday things. It could have used 4 more GB of ram to really work. I'm pushing the limits of everyday use by running GNS3 networking labs (Cisco Routers under Dynamips) and Vmware guests in it. It does have the AMD-V for virtualization. It kind of slows down when the 4 GB memory gets close to maxing out. Firefox web browser likes to eat a lot of memory especially on complex web sites like Facebook. It's hanging in there though. I heard it doesn't have cooling fans ... but I haven't seen temperature warnings like I saw on my old machine. Even while watching HD video content. It's playing movies and videos just fine. I like that it had HDMI for audio and video right out of the box. I never used Bluetooth and I don't put it on WiFi but it has both of those as well. I've had it about a month now ... and I'm keeping it. :-) :-)

Good computer.. do "Fresh Start" and upgrade parts

    Posted .
    Pros mentioned:
    Ease of use, Price, Speed
    Cons mentioned:
    Processor

This is a decent computer, after some minimal work (depends on your experience with IT). We bought this computer for my company (under a different login) about 2 weeks ago, basically to do VERY simple tasks. We will run a few different shipping programs, do web browsing/email, and some file shares.. again, nothing that will really tax the computer. It works great for that, but I can't say how bigger programs would run. PROS: -CAN BE a pretty quick computer.. see recommendations below. -Small form factor/lightweight. Can fit anywhere -Inexpensive compared to others -Looks nice, and seems somewhat sturdy -Can add more RAM CONS: -No internal fan... hmmm.... Sure there is a very very small one on top of the processor, but nothing pushing or pulling the hot air out of the case. This will SLOW the computer down or make it crash as well. I'm surprised the manufacturer didn't add one, since it probably would avoid a lot of people going through warranty/call centers for an overheated/malfunctioning computer. -Wifi antenna/connector seems delicate, but I haven't had issues with it connecting yet. The antenna panel is oddly placed, and blocks anything being inserted into the PCI Express slot. Once moved, it leaves an open hole in the case, letting excess dirt/dust in, but you can at least use the express slot after. -Only 1 mount for 2.5" hard drive/only 2 SATA plugs. The CD drive uses one SATA, and you can "technically" place a second hard drive, but you will lose the CD drive. RECOMMENDATIONS: -First things first, clean off the bloatware ASAP. Windows 10 has something built into the software, called "Fresh Start". This re-installs windows 10 without most of the 3rd party apps from Lenovo or other mysterious companies. This will improve speeds drastically. Go through the initial setup of your computer, and Google search how to do it. It'll take you 5-10 mins, then walk away as it installs for an hour. -Add AT LEAST another 4GB RAM stick ($15-$20). 4GB just isn't enough for most tasks. Well worth the effort and inexpensive cost! -Add some sort of internal fan IF you can find the right size. I have to re-measure the mount holes, but fans can usually be inexpensive. The motherboard already has 2 empty plugs and 2 mounting points on the case, specifically for fans. This will extend the life of the computer greatly. -Move the Wifi antenna panel if you have any desire to use the PCI Express slot.. again, it was originally placed in a weird spot. You can also get a better Wifi Card if you are having issues.. You can use one of the PCI express slots or just put it back into the same M.2 slot. All-in-all.. For the price, the computer isn't bad. This IS NOT made to be a high-end, lightning-fast computer. However,if you buy it knowing that, then you'll be happy. You don't have to use any of my recommendations, but I would at least increase the RAM if you want to do anything on the computer a little quicker. Only 4GB of RAM just shouldn't be a standard in 2019.

Decent desktop, very basic. 4 GB ram is a little light for Windows 10, didn't see much delay when setting up before the additional 4 GB memory I order arrived. I would definitely recommend adding an additional 4 GB of ram to bring it up to 8GB. Bought it for light open office work and internet use, seems fine for that

My family has enjoyed using this desk top. During these times of social distancing it has allowed everyone to interact with each other by playing music and family games.

Once again, thank you for choosing the Lenovo IdeaCentre 310s Desktop for your family. You can keep this computer running at its best by keeping the Windows 10 Operating System and all supporting BIOS files and drivers up to date. You can easily accomplish this by scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software available on this computer. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. If you ever need additional help with your Lenovo computer, we recommend you call Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686 for additional help. Lenovo

Bought this for my son with autism; his had quit after 12 years. Bought this because Lenovo, I thought, was a great computer for the money. Set it up and was great UNTIL on day 34 the dreaded "blue screen" appeared. Had it diagnosed; hardware failure. Did research and it seems this is a common problem with this brand. Unable to return for repair/replacement I purchased a different brand and couldn't be happier. Reading reviews is good, but do your homework before purchasing!
