Great if you know what to expect

I have bought IdeaCentre 310S about a month ago, and I am really happy with it. I bought it for internet (browsing, social media, watching YouTube), reading books (PDF and Kindle), watching movies, and writing documents. I would point at two good features for IdeaCentre 310S: First, the price is very good. Second, if you know what to expect from the hardware - it works great. Of course IdeaCentre is a bit slow, especially after the start (the processor is working on 100% for about a minute), but after that it works great depending on applications and tasks you initiate. If you consider using it for any resource-heavy tasks as editing photography in Photoshop or something like this - you'd better buy more RAM, or downgrade the system to Windows 7 (you have to have a Windows 7 though).

Once again, thank you for choosing the Lenovo IdeaCentre 310s Desktop. You can keep your computer running at its best by keeping the Windows 10 Operating System and all supporting BIOS files and drivers up to date. You can easily accomplish this by scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software available on this computer. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. If you ever need additional help with your Lenovo computer, we recommend you call Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686 for additional help. Lenovo

I purchased this desktop specifically for my job to work from. It works fine. However, the only drawback is that is doesn't have a VGI port and Lenovo could have utilized one of the USB ports for a 2nd HDMI port because this desktop only has one. Most jobs require two monitors at your workstation. I had to buy a $45 adaptor to allow me to view both monitors with separate programs on each one of them.

    A Bit disappointed

    Posted .

I bought this desktop computer for my office, I am self employed and figured that it would do the job for the basic everyday work stuff (spreadsheets, email, web browsing). It does, but the computer is really slow and quite frankly, very noisy. The fan is ALWAYS on and you can hear the hard drive turning every time. And I only have the Edge web browser open on a single page and one spreadsheet or word document at a time. I should have known because it has an AMD processor and it is not as easy to know if it is a fast or slow one, like with Intel where you can see if it's i3, i5 or i7. I can recommend it for a high school or university student, but they might be disappointed as well. The good thing is that I can upgrade the RAM and maybe that will speed it up.

The Lenovo IdeaCentre 310s desktop ships with the Dual-Core AMD A9-9425 processor, supported by 4GB of DDR4-1866MHz RAM. This processor has a base speed of 2.6GHz and a boost speed of up to 3.0GHz. Be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programing errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. Lenovo

    Waaaaaay toooooo slooooooooooow!

I bought this computer for basic web browsing and to store family documents, photos, and videos. Existing reviews made this computer seem like a good value option for a non-gaming computer. After basic windows configuration and installing Google Chrome, a reboot would literally take over 5 minutes. After entering my password - I stared at a blank screen for 3 minutes waiting on the desktop to appear. I get this is a value machine, but that is unrealistic... and this is before adding programs/apps and loading up the drive with files for storage. On top of this - it was very slow to respond. I would click an option in settings and literally 15 seconds later the window would open and the computer acknowledge the action. Perhaps I got a bad one... but this is going back to the store... today! Based on my experience - I would look at other options for your value PC. FYI - Not claiming to be an expert - but I am no beginner on PC's. I am a programmer, work on a work PC all day, and have built multiple machines on my own. Sometimes the issue is between the keyboard and the back of the chair - but this aint one of those times. Best of luck!

Needed to replace a old tower computer to work at home. This computer filled the bill. It has plenty of storage, memory and speed for remote working from home. The setup is fast and easy, had this machine running in time. While there are machines with more speed and power, this one can’t be beat for someone who needs a good basic computer on a budget. The only thing that it lacks is enough USB connections on the back of it, I had to use one from the front of the computer to hook everything up.

I really like the computer and how slim it is. I added 12 GB memory for a total of 16 GB and changed the hard drive to 1 TB Solid State Drive (Samsung V-Nand SSD) This made a world of difference. So for the price of the computer and an extra $120.00 for the upgraded SSD and Memory it is well worth it.

Overall, this is a decent computer for most purposes. Wi-Fi is a little weak, though that may be more an issue in Windows rather than with the computer. Performance is not bad, though if you are going to be using it for serious surfing or work from home, I would recommend buying extra RAM.

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo IdeaCentre 310s desktop. Windows 10 is compatible with gmail internet based email. Here is a link to instructions for setting up gmail on a Windows 10 computer:  https://www.groovypost.com/howto/add-gmail-email-windows-10-mail-app/. The IdeaCentre 310s has two standard USB 3.0 ports. They are on the back. They are the standard USB ports with "Blue tongues" within the port (USB 2.0 ports have black tongues within the ports). USB 3.0 devices are backward compatible to USB 2.0, so your USB 3.0 external hard drive should work within any of the USB ports on the IdeaCentre 310s. Be sure you have software installed that can read the picture format of the files on your external hard drives. Be sure the picture format is compatible with Windows 10. Also be sure there are no viruses on the external hard drives. You may want to scan the drive with your anti-virus software before trying to open the files on the external hard drive. Lenovo

Only bought this computer because I needed a windows 10 from a Windows 7. The beginning was rough and it will cost me a lot more a year because of the way windows is set up now. Not happy about that! It seems to run fine. Took some time to get used to. The technician was very helpful with the install. At 72 it is hard to change. I am working on it. So far it is a really good computer and I hope that I will be able to accomplish all I need to keep up with it.

I actually have 7 of these. I use them as agent stations for my business. They are not to powerful and can get over tasked when asked to keep several tabs open on edge plus running a few other programs. This is a good basic pc tower if you are trying to keep costs down, not a gaming pc with power to spare.

    Perfect machine

The IdeaCentre is perfect for my family's purposes...basic internet research, office stuff (finance, documents, presentations, etc.), and some small time games. We do not stream movies or do any online gaming so there was no need for advanced graphics or such...but, from what I've seen doing the basic stuff, this machine could keep up if needed. The size is right and I got our computer off the floor and on the shelf minimizing wiring and messy set-up.

    Not a bad computer

I bought this computer mainly for video playback and it does an excellent job at that... It's a little low on RAM but that can be fixed pretty easily... The only thing that really bugs me about this computer is the preloaded obnoxious software from the manufacturer that's always trying to update itself...

Unit was picked up in good shape, but developed some WIFI connectivity issues a few days later, Talked to Lenovo tech service person (he was great) and he gave me three options after about a half hour on the phone with him. I got off the phone tried option one and all has been fine since. overall the unit is a good value for the money and a idea unit for a retired guy just doing surveys and web browsing.

We are pleased to hear that the issue you were having with WiFi within your Lenovo IdeaCentre 310sDesktop has been successfully corrected. Lenovo
