    Low cost tablet but....

    Posted .

So my first impression on the tablet was "wow this is a good tablet that offers a memory card reader and low in cost". after the sales rep talked me into it, I went home and started to play with it. Began noticing that on bright lighting the screen becomes very hard to see. in the box there is a start guide that tells you that before any real use, go under settings and check for any software updates... I did so and indeed there was one weighing at 279mbs. it also states that it is part one of a two part software update. the updates downloads and the tablet asks you to hit the restart and install button. You see the recovery screen comes up and you see the install go through the process and finish, then the tablet shuts off. the tablet is actually supposed to restart and finalize the install but instead it just stays shut. When you restart the tablet manually and go to do part two, the tablet starts doing part 1 again meaning it didn't do the update. tried over 10 times. Also a lot of the Play and Amazon Market apps that I use are not compatible with it, for example: Monopoly, Plants Vs. Zombies, TiVo, and many more. Netflix looks good if you are staring directly at the screen, any angles look bad. Speaker is pretty low as well. I would say this tablet would be a good tablet for a kid but some games don't even work so what is the point.

Overall not a bad little tablet

    Posted .

What I like: I bought this 7" tablet for mostly email, web browsing, and watching YouTube videos. The size is perfect for travel and on the go uses. Memory on this device is plenty sufficient with, the option to expand through the SD card slot. The weight is less than a pound and doesn't tire you hand out when holding it for extended periods time. Updated version of Android installed apps like the Google Play store, Amazon kindle, and Lenovo. What I didn't like: The main thing that really bothers me is screen resolution. This makes for bad viewing angles and glare. In bright light it could be hard to see, even with the brightness all the way up. The external speaker isn't very good at all, but I just use earbuds. The last complaint I would have to be the cameras, although it's nice to have, you wont be taking great pictures with this thing. All and all this isn't a bad tablet at all. For $199 there aren't many tablets that beat it. Better than the Kindle Fire and Blackberry Playbook without a doubt.

I keep reading everyone complaining that it has 512 mb. of ram. but yet expecting 1 gb. look at the specs on this page, it clearly says: 512 MB RAM For multitasking power. what do you expect for under 200 bucks? an Ipad? jeesh! it works very well for the price.

    Specs Not as Advertised

    Posted .

This device does not have 1gb of RAM as Best Buy is advertising. Check the side of your box where the specs are located - you're only getting 512mb of RAM. It would also be difficult for BB to blame the manufacturer for incorrect info, as Lenovo's site offers the correct specs. Returning mine today, unopened. *I gave a 4-start rating as it's not the tablet's fault that Best Buy is advertising it incorrectly, and shouldn't negatively reflect on the product.

    Depends on your use

This tablet is priced well and I was a little worried about buying it. My concerns were valid. It would not update correctly. it would actually shut down instead and freeze. I returned it and exchanged it for a different device. On a positive note, it is a 16 gig tablet. if someone is looking for a basic tablet for surfing the web and email exc, it does those things well.

Good little Tablet but CHECK THE BOX!!!

    Posted .

This is a perfect tablet for someone on a budget. You get your money's worth out of it. However, LOOK AT THE SIDE OF THE BOX!!! Online the specs say 1 GB of RAM memory but when I went to the store they gave me one with 512 MB of RAM memory. I was not happy about that since they still charged me $199. The 512 MB version is supposed to be $169. Watch out for that before buying....

Great alternative to Nook and Fire

    Posted .

I was in the market for a new 7" tablet for my wife to use primarily as an e-reader but also wanted the flexibility for her to play android games and netflix. There was a little mixup about how much RAM it had on the website, but the best buy employee made sure to state that it did in fact have 512 MB, not 1GB like most other android 4.0 7" tablets. No matter, this little Lenovo is great. It's quick and the screen looks good, but don't expect great viewing angles. The camera quality isn't the best, but they're not supposed to be. Some apps do crash every once in a while, but that's to be expected. Touch screen is rather responsive but isn't as slick as I hoped. Overall, I like it, my wife loves it. This is a great option for anyone looking to experience a good small tablet.

Not one of my best purchases

    Posted .

I purchased it specifically to watch training videos in various environments such as on a plane or a passenger in a car. Brought it home and as others have written, it failed to update after a number of tries. Had to go out of town, so I tried to add some apps like credit card and hotels. About 50% of the apps were not compatible. On day 4 it started freezing up and would do simple things like check email. It took 2 of us to set it up on my laptop because of major driver issues with Windows 7. About an hour later, I was greeted with the infamous blue screen of death on my laptop. After reading the reviews, I checked the box and realized that I had purchased the 512 MB version at the 1 GB price just like some of the other reviewers. I always keep my receipt, the box, and all packing materials for 30 days just in case, so on day 6, I packed it up and returned it to Best Buy without a hassle, just an apology and an immediate refund.

    ok not great

    Posted .

I had this lenovo for 3 days. I read the reviews and wanted to try it for myself. It started out great but as soon as I downloaded a few apps it slowed down completely. The camera would drag on taking pictures or recording, and it would take for ever for anything to come up so if you not going to use alot of apps it will be fine. For someone like me who like apps and games this was not for me. So it all depends on what you want I am not going to say it was bad because it was not just not for me, and what I wanted.

    Major Freeze

    Posted .

I bought this tablet before a trip. Charged it for a day and started playing with it. It was great for the 1st few hours, as I started downloading a few apps and loaded 50 or so photos the performance level dropped dramatically. It would lag while typing and randomly need rebooting. It would freeze while surfing the web. Oh Ya, I had to Google how to reboot the tablet... not in the instructions. I would charge it to 100% overnight, unplug it and place it in my bag in a case, two hours later I would pull it out and it was dead. If you set the brightness to a level that allows you to watch video in a bright room, the battery wouldn’t last 4 hours. The screen viewing angle was narrow, anything more than 45 degrees and the image would polarize. I loaded a few .MP4 and .3GP video files onto the tablet thru the SD card and they would play very lagged and glitch. A few day later, the video files wouldn’t even play. Another little issue with the menu buttons on the body. They light up when touched and turn off after 30 or so seconds. If you’re in a dark room, you have a hard time finding the buttons.

    Best Buy Screw Up

    Posted .

Just got back from Best Buy store where I bought this Lenovo Ideapad tablet. Big surprise when I looked at the box at home: 512MB RAM. Best Buy website advertises it with a RAM of 1GB! Called customer service.... Don't know when they will correct it. So far can't say something about the tablet. It is still unpacked. Sales rep at store said they haven't sold any of this new tablet yet....

    Excellent for business and school!

    Posted .

This tablet is amazing! Right out of the box comes with microsoft word, power point, and excel! I'll be using it mainly for school so all that comes in major use! Especially for business classes! Only disapointment is that the camera isn't too amazing, and small screen. Small price to pay for being so great though!

Not so great, even at the price

    Posted .

After iPads, Fires, and other Android and Apple devices, this device really isn't so great despite the price. The touch-screen is really laggy even with bigger icons. Reaction time to clicks and swipes is slow. Power-management is awful and recharge time is forever. Perhaps there are some settings I can adjust, but it's not really worth the trouble.

    Terrible tablet

    Posted .

I had to tap the screen many times to turn pages or bring up a app. I wanted to download a movie and photos with the USB cable but it did not read my computer. I spent hours on the Lenovo site trying to get help. I finally called the company and they said they had not updated the site and had not received the new pad to see how it works. Returned the pad to Best Buy without a problem. Bought a Nexus 7 instead and LOVE IT.

    Good tablet

I really like this tablet. I got it primarily for school and think it will suit well for it purpose. I think it was a great deal for the price and it works well. I have nothing to complain about it. Battery life is good and it is easy to use.

Do your self a favor, get the nexus tablet instead

    Posted .

I just returned the lenova tablet, i was also cault thinking it was 1 gb of ram, as soon as i got the tablet, began to load apps, first, hulu is not supported. Then the system is very sluggish, and freezes alot, the camera is also subpar. The last straw was the update, it frooze, and did not even allow to reset to factory default, forced to return and lucky to pick the nexus tab at a nearby staples. What i did like abiut the lenova was price, had a subpar camera, and micro sd, but the performance made me never to buy another lenova product. Stay away. This tablet will go no where.
