Really liked the skinny laptop. Easy to setup, keyboard and touch pad works great. Plenty fast for watching videos, web browsing. I added a compact flash drive for extra storage which is needed for sure because of the limited size of built in storage. Battery life is great so far. Downsides: an SD card does not fully insert into the laptop. More than half of it sticks out! Makes it very hard to move or transport the laptop without endangering the exposed SD card. Also, you need to adjust the screen so it aligns exactly with your view. Otherwise the screen is slightly fuzzy. And I don't like the feature that turns the computer on automatically when you unfold the screen. For the price on Black Friday, it was a very good deal. Overall very pleased based on cost.

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your entry-level, Lenovo IdeaPad 1i 14 laptop, model number 82V6S00000. This model ships with Windows 11 S-Mode, 64-bit Operating System installed. Windows 11 S-Mode provides added security by only allowing APPs available ( and therefore certified by Microsoft) at the Microsoft Store. If you don't need the added security or you need to install APPs not available at the Microsoft Store, you can switch to standard Windows 11 Home 64-bit Operating System, at no additional cost. Even if you have switched out of S-Mode for Windows 11 Home, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 11 and this entry-level configuration. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. Here is a link to instructions for uninstalling McAfee from a Windows computer:  https://service.mcafee.com/?articleId=TS101331&page=shell&shell=article-view You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of your Windows 11 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. Lenovo

This laptop runs fairly well considering its limited resources. It has less resources than a lot of smartphones but runs full Windows 11. Considering the price I hesitate to complain too much. It's not a gaming machine, it's not a machine where you'll store your movie or music collection (not enough storage). You can't really multitask due to the limited CPU and RAM. But for web and Office use, it works great and is a bargain. The keyboard and trackpad work great and since there is no fan, it works in complete silence. My biggest complaint is the screen is fairly dim, low-resolution, and washed out. I wish it was a little bit better. But it's tough to complain too much for the price. Battery life is actually rather good - getting close to iPad-level battery life. Quite a surprise! I bought a similar model a few months ago and installed ChromeOS Flex on it, it ran better than Windows. But this one I am going to keep Windows on.

    The good and the bad

For a simple, down and to the point, backup this laptop does the job. The Cons: It has Windows S which is a mobile/shop version of Windows. You'll be locked to using approved apps (Unless you disable it), and require a sign-in from a Windows account, as well as more hoops to jump through to prevent data mining. If you take your time through all the disclosures to ensure you're declining the offers, and customize your data/privacy settings, you'll be fine with this. For those non-tech savvy or who just want to get the product up and running, this could be a problem as Office will automatically start a "free" trial that will go to paid at the end of the year. It's an easy miss for those who click through those disclosures. This laptop also only has the bare minimum needed to run, so expect lagging on opening/switching apps even on two or more tabs opened. It's not terrible, less time than the average phone but more time than what I'd expect on a laptop loading a simple program. Mix that with the small hard drive space, and you shouldn't expect this to ever replace a regular computer for any household. The Pros: If you're looking for a cheap, browse the internet and use office products like Word, Outlook, or Excel, kind of machine and aren't too fussed with speed, this is a steal for the Black Friday deal of $100. The 8gb Ram upgrade is cheap and easy to do to cancel out some of that lag as well (it only goes to 8gb max with single slot and it's only an extra $28). It's extremely light weight, and with a decent battery to boot! For an extra machine for on the go usage, at that sale price, and with the cheap upgrade to memory makes it a steal. Even a student using this for homework would be pretty well set, as long as the school doesn't require specific software. Overall, as my backup machine, I adore it. It does what I need it to do, even if it is a little slow at times.
