Repeated Boot failure

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Lenovo Idea Pad 3 on 11/25/22 and it is frequently quitting and after a black screen displays the error message: Default Boot Device Missing or Boot failed. Insert Recovery Media and hit Sny Key then select “Boot Manager” to choose a new Boot Device or to Boot Recovery Media I called Best Buy IT who had me look for Windows updates even though I bought it less than 2 weeks ago. The device says it’s up to date and I still have the same problem. Not sure if it is just a problem with this particular item

Posted .We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with the boot process of your Lenovo IdeaPad 3i 15 Laptop, model number 81X800MCUS. First, even if you have switched out of S-Mode, for Windows 11 Home, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 11. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. Here is a link to instructions for uninstalling McAfee from a Windows computer: https://service.mcafee.com/?articleId=TS101331&page=shell&shell=article-view You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of your Windows 11 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If you can not get Windows to load properly, resetting the computer back to its original factory settings may fix the issue you are having by resetting the Windows 11 Operating System. Power off the computer and plug in the included, 65W Round Tip (2-pin, Wall-mount), AC adapter/charger with the computer still powered off. This system is equipped with OneKey Recovery System. There is a very small pin hole on the right side of the device, right near the headphone jack on the device. You will need a pin to push this reset button. Plug the device in. Let the battery charge for about 15 minutes, with the power off. Push the reset button. The system should boot to a choice screen where you can choose "Restore To Factory Default". Select this. It will delete everything from the hard drive except the original factory install of the operating system. You will need to reinstall all programs and files after the reset. If you don't have copies of the files, try to make one before you restore by selecting "Boot to desktop" and trying to back up your files. If the problem persists after the factory reset, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686.

Get a better laptop even spend a little more

But the rest of the basically functions are fine with the low price. Since the display is so important for all users, so I suggest all potential laptop purchasers don’t buy this top pot. Add some more money to get a better one.

In this case, this machine has almost no memory and very little storage as well. Really hard to do anything with this one.

The computer itself runs like a dream, has all the space I need to run my little side business and not bog it down for personal use. As of right now, I'm very pleased with my purchase and am considering a second one for my partner when she starts school.

Exceeded All Expectations

However, I could not afford to give up all the perks on my older laptop. I needed a good size touch screen, a fast processor, ample storage and above all a reliable machine. I am happy to saw I found it in this particular Lenovo. In fact this machine has exceeded all my expectations and has an amazing battery life that was an added bonus. Best of all I not only stayed within my budget but stayed well below it. Now for the record I am not a gamer nor do I use it for high computing. I use it for basic browsing etc...If that's all you need it for then this is the laptop for you.
