Not generally a fan of Chromebooks, BUT...
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for an economical laptop with a particularly bright screen and portability. I happened across this model on sale and went for it. The OLED screen is very crisp and very bright (400 nits) The touchscreen is responsive, and the movement is smooth. Some Linux apps are slow to boot, but once up they run fine and things are snappy, even with multiple tabs in play. The magnetic keyboard snaps tightly into place and the keys, while a little spongy, have enough click and resistance to not cause an issue with typing speed. I have since purchased a wireless keyboard and mouse, adjustable tablet stand, and a USB-C hub and they combine to create a very snazzy, effective workstation, while I use the included keyboard when I need to be mobile. Battery life is excellent even with full screen brightness. While I would have liked a built-in micro-SD slot, I won't knock it for not having one because I knew that it didn't before buying. Two C connections get the job done. A very nice unit and I'll say good job, Lenovo.

Excellent hardware with software bugs
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The title of this seems at odds with the five star review, but I’m hopeful for future updates. To begin, the hardware is excellent. The OLED screen is a pleasure to use, and beats most laptops costing >$1,000. It is truly great, and once you use an OLED screen (with vibrant colors and perfect blacks), everything else will seem second rate. In terms of processing power and RAM, the Duet can go toe to toe with most tablets costing >50% more, plus it includes a detachable keyboard and track which are surprisingly nice to use. In terms of design, I love the included magnetic backing and that the keyboard can be used to protect the screen. While it’s abit heavy as a tablet, the form factor is nice, and the kicktand works well (it can be adjusted to any angle, not just set positions). The downside, however, is software/OS related. As you know, a chromebook is different from a normal PC, but its adequate for the majority go users. There are still issue though. For a while, the brightness couldnt be adjusted. I could move the slider, but it would stuck at 100% and utterly unusable at night. To fix it, I’d have to reboot, sometimes multiple times in row. The tablet/computer doesn’t always go to sleep when I press the power button either and sometimes it takes 15+ seconds to wake up from sleep. I think these issues can be fixed with software updates, but they are cumbersome when they occur.

Decent for school
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We got this tablet for my son to start his homeschooling. It was quick to set up and he has been able to easily navigate it. The charge lasts for a while so he's always able to get his work done on one go. Having the keyboard being able to detach as needed has been a big help. He recently dropped it off his lap while getting off the couch and the screen shattered, so definitely be careful to not drop it at all.

Low quality screen cannot be overlooked, literally
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The pros are that it is a fast, snappy Chromebook with excellent battery life and is very portable. The keyboard is very responsive. With a few tweaks, it could have been Lenovo's pride for a mid-range line! Cons: The screen quality is substandard, with noticeably low pixel density. My office printer's screen has the same pixel density as this device. The screen detrimentally affected my vision and productivity when dealing with text and writing. Additionally, the number of false positives with the lock button is too great. The case (that would protect the button from being pushed) is pretty sharp on the edges as you run your finger along the edge of the device, so it is very unpleasant to hold in hand, akin to pushing a table knife against the skin.

Perfect if you use Google systems
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a Google gal. I have a pixel, chrome base, and I was sold on the initial Google duet. I like being able to connect my phone to the tablet and send texts stuff while using it. When they released this one I immediately bought it because it was bigger than the original duet and I loved the first one. It's great both as a tablet and a laptop. I use it in class to take notes, read books, and watch videos online. I've also been able to use Adobe on it to sign documents and combine files and pdfs. the battery life is amazing. The only downside was when Google Chromebook had this weird switch for zoom. I had to download this other app, zoom chrome pwa, and it caused my Chromebook to crash. Fortunately, it fell within the warranty and I sent it in and they fixed it and returned it in less than a week. It hasn't crashed since. Looks nice and sleek too. If you need something simple to do these things then I highly recommend. If you need to work on more specific softwares though this Chromebook won't cut it.

Best Chromebook
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This chromebook has best display, the speed is still great mid 2025. It is versatile, has long battery life. I wish the aspect ratio was 16:10 and had headphone port but are manageable.

OLED display is simply gorgeous!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Duet 5 with its OLED display is simply gorgeous! That's its primary good point. I get plenty of battery life out of it. This is, for me anyway, perhaps the best media consumption laptop / tablet you can get!

Lenovo almost got it right!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first Chromebook. Well, technically it's my second as I did temporarily try the Lenovo Spin 713 but traded it in for the Duet 5 due to the excellent reviews the original Duet received. The OLED screen was a selling point as well. So, why only 4 stars. There's no good way to say this. The sound quality is bad, just horrible. I mean even in complete silence I struggle to hear what's being said while watching YouTube. I find myself hitting the volume up button thinking maybe I didn't turn it up all the way. This is such a huge letdown I'm thinking of replacing it with a different Chromebook. My second pet peeve when it comes to laptops/tablets is backlit keyboards. Really?! How hard is it to throw some LEDs underneath a few keys? Hoping a 3rd party backlit keyboard is on the way. Personally, I think it's just ridiculous for these things not to come standard with backlit keys. Speaking of keys, this types very well but the keyboard hinge (fabric part) is flimsy and in my opinion lazy. Take notes from MS Surface Tablets. That's all I'm going to say about that. Other than what I mentioned, I like (not love) it. Again, good chance I swap this out for possibly the Lenovo Spin 713 or a Samsung Chromebook.

Smidge underpowered, but very portable
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The duet 5 is a solid device. I got one on sale and I liked it so much I bought another one when it went on sale again six months later. It is not the fastest Chromebook, but works just fine for my typical Chromebook usage - email, docs, web browsing and Netflix. It has a premium feel, very much like a Microsoft surface. Keyboard will not be comfortable for extended use, but is still very good for a lightweight, portable form factor. Keyboard actually feels a lot more substantial than my admittedly much older Microsoft surface. Audio is also not great, but more than good enough for the form factor and price. For comparison, I have an hp x360, which is roughly the same price point. The hp is a little bit faster (you mainly feel it in UI transitions and when starting apps), but feels like cheap hardware in every other way.

Great 2-1 that didn’t quite meet my needs
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a very specific use case that I was hoping would work with this chrome book tablet that is really kind of outside the realm of what I think any chrome book can do. I wanted to find a large screen thin tablet with its own computing power for person browsing/content consumption that I could also use a video capture card to convert to a wired portable monitor(I can’t use wireless display on my work Laptop). If it had worked well I think it would have been the ultimate solution but it seems that chrome books may be just a little too locked down to do this well. I ultimately returned the tablet for this reason, but in the short period of time I had it I actually kind of fell in love with it and was really grasping at straws trying to find an excuse to keep it even though it didn’t fully meet my needs. The processor was lightning fast with browsing, android gaming, and video streaming. It’s a beautiful screen with good speakers, the keyboard was nice and I even purchased a Targus USI pen to go with it. The writing experience doesn’t hold a candle to my Samsung tab s7 FE but it was still quite good although I think the pen I chose to go with it definitely didn’t help it’s case in this department. If you buy this and want to write on it I would suggest finding a USI standard stylus with a rubber tip if those even exist.

OLED screen is worth the price of admission
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My work laptop is a beast, but this Duet 5 is my Road Warrior. The OLED screen is worth the price of admission. I use a Surface Laptop 3 on a daily basis for work purposes. I bought tht Duet 5 on sale as a backup chrome option for meetings and such. This thing is amazing. The OLED screen is better than my work laptop even though it's smaller. I can charge this on the weekend, use it all week on the go and still be at 50% charge on Friday afternoon. I use it to check email, research stuff, watch videos, listen to tunes while on my other laptop, and it has always amazed me. The cover and keyboard are better than I expected. The keyboard is responsive and the touchpad is sensitive. In tablet mode, the touchscreen is perfect. I purchased a stylus pen to use for notes and it works flawlessly. Even though I purchased to play second fiddle to my daily driver, this Duet 5 has won my heart and is sliding its way into my everyday workhorse. I highly recommend you give it a try.

Great for streaming and battery but not much else.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Battery life is all day long charge at night good to go again. The screen is very good but not amazing like some other oleds. The drawback for me was the processor is too weak for any gaming thats not very light. I tried several times to play teamfight tactics and while it looked good and ran well it crashed on every game usually after the match itd freeze and need to close and reopen the application. To be fair it could be tft is not well optimized on chromebook but ive played on several platforms and never had any problems whatsoever anywhere else including phone. Long story short its great for streaming, web browsing, and probably really simple games with virtually no graphics requirements, but thats it. That may be worth $500 to you, but unfortunately not me. Still an amazing product but im very picky hence still getting 4 stars.

Insensitive touch screen, but really great battery
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really clean aesthetic. The OLED touch screen looks nice, but I have to push relatively hard on it when pushing buttons. Combine that with a delicate kickstand, and using the chromebook can be awkward at times. With that being said, the chromebook is snappy and has a really great battery life.

Regarding the sensitivity of the touch screen, first try the touch screen feature at another web site, see if the issue continues across different web sites, it could be an issue with the specific web site. Pretty great for the money!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, it's well worth it for the price! This was my first ChromeOS device, and honestly, I had thoughts of returning it at first, even knowing some of the limitations of the operating system and the ARM processor. With that said, I don't think I would recommend this as someone's sole computer, even for education. The ARM processor means a lot of normally available Linux software is out of the question, and it's going to be the main bottleneck of this system, aging it quickly, especially with the sudden influx of ARM computers. Another factor contributing to its aging is the EMMC storage, which often makes transferring files an exhausting experience. But I don't want to understate this machine; it runs without a hitch for most everything. Honestly, I've appreciated the aspect of having to learn and work around its limitations, but I'm someone who likes to tinker. For those who don't, it's still a pretty good machine if you know what you're buying. The screen is exceptional in brightness and color and is pressure-sensitive with a USI 2.0 pen. The kickstand case on the back is sturdy, with a wide opening angle. The folio keyboard is serviceable; the typing experience is alright, not awful for a folio, with some tactile response. However, the main issue I have is with the trackpad and its physical connection to the tablet itself. It disconnects quite easily during use, which is a shame because I find tablet mode on ChromeOS to be lackluster. The trackpad is abysmal out of the box; hardware acceleration makes it almost unusable, though turning down the sensitivity helps. It is usable, though. Overall, I think the device is fun and surprisingly versatile, as long as you know exactly what you're buying and don't expect more.

Versatility Redefined
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Recently, I've integrated the Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 5 Chromebook into my business setup and I must say, it's been a gratifying addition. Primarily employed for customer interaction, particularly check-ins, and email management, it's truly excelled in both areas. The highlight for me is its ingenious design, a detachable keyboard that enables a smooth transition into a tablet. This dual aspect brings a level of convenience and adaptability that I haven't encountered before, making it an indispensable tool in handling the varied tasks of my business operations.
