Customers are saying

Customers regard the IdeaPad Duet Chromebook favorably, particularly praising its ease of use, included keyboard, and excellent battery life. The device's value for the price and compact size are also frequently cited as positive aspects. While some users mention limitations in the amount of RAM and the sound quality of the speakers, the overall user experience appears to be quite positive.

I pre-ordered this because the early reviews were outstanding. They were not wrong. It's a great tablet and Android apps seem to work flawlessly. If I had to criticize anything it would be that the keyboard is a little cramped. I can't fault Lenovo for this since I want the tablet form factor to be as small as possible. It takes a little getting used to, but I'm able to do some amount of software development from this device.

Great laptop/tablet once you get used to ChromeOS

I picked this up from Best Buy a little over two months ago, and really like it. Yes, it's heavier than a traditional tablet but it's lighter and more compact than most laptops, which makes it a great travel companion or for use while sitting in an easy chair with it on your lap. (Which is what I'm doing right now.) And, while it clearly isn't a gamer's high-powered fantasy system, it still has enough power to edit photos or videos and can easily last through a full day of web browsing, word processing, and other less graphics- and computation-intensive use. Most of the time my Duet lasts through two full days on a single charge. I chose this system for three main reasons. First, I wanted a truly lightweight, portable laptop capable of handling light photo and video editing needs at home and when I travel. I also wanted something that supports the ARM processor architecture so I can leverage my existing Android smartphone apps. And I wanted something that can run Linux, something Google is bringing to ChromeOS. This little guy has an eight-core 2Ghz processor, 4GB RAM and either 64 or 128GB SSD storage. (Mine has 128GB.) That's plenty for most mobile or desktop computing with ChromeOS, but Lenovo did leave some things you probably expect from a tablet or laptop out of this little package. First, the 12 watt/2.4 Amp USB-A power adapter Lenovo provides is horribly underpowered. The Duet itself supports PD charging, so they really should have included a higher-powered 20 watt or greater charger. I bought a USB-C to USB-C charging cable and 20 watt dual USB charge adapter that cuts charging time in half. Second, the Duet doesn't have a SD/TF card slot, USB-A connector, an on-board headphones jack, or, for that matter, an HDMI or wired Ethernet connector so you'll probably want to buy a USB-C hub you can use for SD/TF cards and USB storage drives and a set of wireless headphones. Just remember to hang on to the USB-to-headphone jack adapter the Duet comes with and get a set of wired headphones for when you fly and can't use Bluetooth. I bought a USB-C hub for my home office and use it to connect my Duet to my main workstation's desktop monitor, a USB-C charger, and Logitech multi-device keyboard and mouse. The multi-function keyboard lets me switch back and forth between my Windows workstation and the Duet and gives me a dual-screen setup, split between the Duet's tiny screen and my desktop monitor, which is very nice to have. To be honest, I waffled quite a bit between giving this tablet four or five stars. I decided four was about right because of the under-powered USB charger abd the lack of an SD Card slot and built-in headphone jack really do compromise the Duet's versatility as a full-featured mobile device. With that in mind, here's what my Pros and Cons list for the Duet looks like: Pros: * The Duet is a really competent, ultra-compact replacement for a laptop and tablet. * The keyboard is compact but comfortable to use and can be folded behind the display or easily detached and re-attached, making it easy to switch between laptop and tablet modes. * The magnetic attachment points for the keyboard hold it firmly in place and help line the keyboard connectors up. It just snaps into place. * The fabric-covered back is also easy to detach and has a kickstand built into it that lets you stand the display up on a table or lap. * Great for travel. An easy fit for a carry-on bag. * Really long battery life. I can go for two days at a time without having to re-charge. * Plenty of computing power for most users. * Allows Android users to load and use most of the Google Play apps they already own and like to use. * Bright and crisp display. * Google will provide ChromeOS updates for the Duet free-of-charge through 2028. Cons: * No headphone jack. * No SD card slot. * It doesn't work like an Android, iOS, Windows, or Apple phone, tablet, or computer, so you'll have to learn how ChromeOS works. (Though it turns out I like ChromeOS.) * Horribly under-powered 12 watt USB-A power supply. You'll want to buy an intelligent 20-watt or better USB-C PD charger to shorten charging time. * It has a sturdy but cheap-looking plastic shell, though the fabric back for the display/tablet does dress it up nicely. * I worry the fabric back will become discolored or stained and there are currently no OEM or after-market replacements available.

I prefer the Lenovo over Hp ANYDAY now there’s nothing like an IOS but if you don’t want to put out a large amount of money for an apple product then Lenovo is the next best thing overall bc some HP are hard to navigate, although the batter life isn’t as long as HP but about the same if not longer than Apple

This is definitely a very nice tablet, with support for just about everything that one may want to do with a Chromebook/Android tablet. Although there are definitely a few kinks that still need to be worked out in the software which is why I'm giving only 4 stars, but honestly it's a very good value, I'd recommend picking it up whole heartedly

This tablet would be so much cooler if it had cases/keyboards in different colors - that gray is borrrring! Overall a good tablet but if you need to do work w Windows app you need to think again. I always struggle finding a place for a tablet/laptop that runs android because of those limitations and this was no exception - I had to return to the Surface-world.
