Customers are saying

Customers commend the Ideapad Gaming 3 for its strong performance, especially in gaming, and its upgradable RAM, making it a good value for the price. However, some users point to shortcomings in battery life and storage capacity as areas for improvement. The screen brightness and potential overheating issues were also noted as concerns by a few customers. While generally considered easy to use, some users suggest considering upgrades to the power supply and storage for optimal performance.

Great laptop really fast and great for gaming only problem is the battery doesn't last long. I was hoping the battery could push for 2 hours or more for browsing and doing homework but it doesn't. Lowering the brightness helps but it is not enough.

I have to say that i am super happy with this purchase. I bought this for my wife for work because it was such a great deal for the money. I paid $599 for it and it’s definitely as good as others that cost way more. I can upgrade the ram to 32 and the internal storage if needed. Will be good for a long time to come

The Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15 proves to be a capable gaming machine. With its AMD Ryzen CPU and NVIDIA dedicated GPU, it offers a seamless gaming experience at 1080p resolution. It's crucial to opt for the 16GB memory configuration, as the 8GB variant may lead to lower frame rates and frequent stutters. The great news is that it's user-friendly when it comes to upgrading internal components, enabling you to do so at your convenience. The 120Hz display provides a relatively clear image, especially during fast-paced scenes, but it's worth noting that its slower response time can result in noticeable ghosting. If you seek even smoother gameplay, there's a 165Hz panel option available, but to truly unlock its potential, you'll need to step up to an RTX 3060 GPU. When handling resource-intensive tasks, the system experiences minimal performance loss, although the fans can become quite noisy during such periods.

I picked this up as an open box on sale for 550 dollars. I could not be happier. Great frame rate for the games I play. I bought this because honestly it's one of the cheapest laptops now without memory soldered on board. Easy to upgrade. Also you get a 3050ti.

Let me preface this by saying this review is based on the sale price I bought this laptop at($599). I travel a ton for work. The old i5-1050 laptop just wasn't cutting it anymore even with upgrades. I know that moving to a 3050ti isn't a huge upgrade statistically, but this thing is a considerable upgrade in terms of playability. I needed something to watch movies and run basic games on the road like Rocket League, CS:GO, Predecessor, etc. The memory is an easy upgrade, and I had plenty of spare 1tb sata SSD's laying around from previous desktop builds. This thing does everything I need it to do. If you're looking for a main gaming rig, I wouldn't recommend it, but if you're looking for a basic laptop to run games and videos on the road, this deal was an easy choice, 120hz monitor was a fantastic bonus. Build quality: The chassis is nothing to write home about. Everything is plastic and a bit flimsy, but with a decent laptop bag and careful handling it's a non-issue. For the discount price, I have zero complaints, and the backlit keyboard is nice and bright.

I purchased this laptop when it was on sale for $549 mainly for gaming while I travel since I can’t lug around my home pc. Setup was normal and simple. And performance out of the box was “OK”. The 8gb of ram is where this laptop bottlenecks while using. Most games held close to 60fps at medium to high graphics settings. I recommend adding and additional 8gb/3200MHz stick of ram and clearing out the bloat that comes with the unit and turning off all the stuff that runs in the background that you don’t need. After adding an addition 8gb stick of ram and it running in dual channel as well as clearing the bloat and turning off the service I don’t need. The average fps jumped to 90 to 120 on mostly higher settings. If you don’t know how to clear the bloat and other stuff, I’d recommend watching a few YouTube videos. The RTX 3050Ti isn’t going to shatter any records but it does very well in this configuration. This particular unit does not come with Lenovo’s Hybrid Switch for using only the RTX graphics card in the Vantage software but it still does well for the price. The general construction is plastic, nothing special. The screen hinges feel sturdy with very little screen wobble while typing. Overall, it’s a good budget unit. I would only get it when it’s on sale. The $900 they want regularly is overpriced for what you get in my opinion. Definitely add another 8gb stick of ram. You can get a Crucial stick for about $28.

Amazing power for the price. I recently purchased this laptop need a mobile computer for streaming and zoom meetings. It was the first time Iʻve seen a Ryzen 5 paired with a RTX 3050i GPU. Since my purchased it Iʻve upgrade the RAM by adding another 3200MHz 8G ram now totaling 16GB and added 1 TB SSD using the bracket and SATA connector that come with the computer. Now this computer runs everything I need like butter, with the added benefit of handling some of graphic heavy games. If you can find it at the $549 price point, I would snag it fast, as I donʻt think it will be at that price point once Christmas is over.

This laptop changed my entire aspect of gaming, the spec of laptop are as shown. The one thing that would be great for an everyday gamer is to upgrade the Ram and the storage but other then that this is perfect especially at its price tag.

So far it has been a great replacement workstation for me, not only satisfying needs for browsing or office work but also gaming as well. I added a 2TB hard drive and replaced the single stick of 8GB RAM with two sticks of 16 all for a little over $100

Great laptop for only $550 The 3050TI isnt a powerhouse but it isnt the worst, around the same price point youd find a 1650 maybe The 5600 does everything I need it to for a mobile work The ram and storage can all be upgraded for maybe 70-100 and youll have a $1000 laptop for only around $650 The only complaint I have so far is battery life it seems to drain fast and I dont know why exactly yet I have it set to Power Efficient mode and it still seems to drain fairly quick on even just browsing (maybe 2.5-3 hours of use) Overall its a great laptop for the price

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15 Gaming Laptop, model number 82K201XCUS. This model ships with a Integrated 45Wh, Lithium-Polymer Battery, which within this model configuration, has a battery life of up to 5 hours, depending on the work the device is performing. To maximized battery life, switch Power settings to a Hybrid/efficient Power Mode Setting. Some additional tips for extending the life of the battery between charges: Set your screen brightness at less than 100-percent - try 80-percent to start with. Then, be sure Battery Charge Threshold is turned off. This power management setting should only be used when the laptop is plugged in all the time. It will prolong overall battery life by only charging the battery to 60-percent of capacity. You can turn off Battery Charge Threshold within the Lenovo Vantage APP installed on this computer. In Vantage select Battery Settings and turn off Battery Charge Threshold, if turned on. Also check what programs are running in the background on the computer. Be sure only the programs you want running in the background are. These programs will drain the battery. Here is a link to information about how to find out what programs are running in the background on your Windows 11 computer and how to manage them for better system performance: https://websiteforstudents.com/how-to-find-what-is-running-in-windows-11/. Then, finally, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 11. Incompatible software will drain the battery at a faster rate. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of your Windows 11 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. Lenovo

I’m really enjoying this laptop. The display is very nice, crystal clear. The weight is minimal. I’ve been using it for about a month and have found no issues. The battery did drain quickly but after adjusting some settings seems to be a lot better.
