Customers are saying
Customers commend the Ideapad Gaming 3 for its strong performance, especially in gaming, and its upgradable RAM, making it a good value for the price. However, some users point to shortcomings in battery life and storage capacity as areas for improvement. The screen brightness and potential overheating issues were also noted as concerns by a few customers. While generally considered easy to use, some users suggest considering upgrades to the power supply and storage for optimal performance.

Good computer, bad power cord.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The computer is good for light gaming. However, the power cord is poor quality. I've owned this computer for over 2.5 years now and the sheathing on power cord is much too stiff. Just your natural bending to get it over the edge of a desk and then down the length of a wall made it start cracking after just weeks of stationary use. Hopefully, they started providing higher quality ones with their more recent products.

Small and solid
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to upgrade my old Dell to a new laptop for general daily use but with enough processing and graphical muscle for the occasional game during my downtime. My main gaming system is a PS5 so I didn't need a high end 3k Alienware, something simpler would do just fine and when this little guy dropped to just $550 in the recent Black Friday sale, I had to jump in. So far, it seems to be a winner. Removing the back cover and installing a second 8GB stick of ram and a sata ssd harddrive was simple and inexpensive and along with the NVidea RTX 3050 Ti card, 1080p performance is fluid, visually crisp and responsive. I've put it through it's paces with both downloaded Gamepass and Steam games and it has handled everything I've thrown at it wihtout issue. Forza Horizon 5 on high settings is very visually impressive. Best part is with the extra ram and storage the laptop owes me around $600 total and honestly for that price, this is great deal. As expected though, it's not quite perfect- the battery life is a little lackluster when using anything other than it's lowest settings and the included charger can struggle when you get into demanding games that make full use of the laptops gaming abilities. All things considered, those are minor inconveniences to what is overall a great portable little system and I can see myself sticking with this Ideapad Gaming 3 for years to come. Recommended.

Moderate issues that should be looked into
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought it but had to return. There were good and bad to this laptop, Good: 1. Good screen quality and nice viewing angles. 2. Excellent sound only AFTER tuned using Nahimic app. Default sound settings are absolutely horrible. Bad: 1. Per poor battery life. It took me just one Starcraft 2 game (15 minutes) to run 100% battery to 70%. At moderate to high gaming settings, battery won't even last an hour. 2. Excessive CPU heating (reaches 80-90 degrees F) easily when performing CPU video encoding. 3. Inadequate GPU utilization (less than 20%) when performing GPU encoding. The GPU itself is the lower-tier of the 3050 TI (60 W version) it seems Nvidia might have gimped it in some manner. 4. Keyboard layout is a bit weird (coming from Macbook Pro). I think they should stop making laptops with numeric keypads. Maybe I should have gone for a 14" laptop instead.
