Customers are saying

Customers commend the Ideapad Gaming 3 for its strong performance, especially in gaming, and its upgradable RAM, making it a good value for the price. However, some users point to shortcomings in battery life and storage capacity as areas for improvement. The screen brightness and potential overheating issues were also noted as concerns by a few customers. While generally considered easy to use, some users suggest considering upgrades to the power supply and storage for optimal performance.

Laptop preforms well for the hour and a half you get out of the battery... If you are running anything other than Google Chrome enjoy your 35 minutes of screen time.

Hello, EdmundM, we are sorry to hear that you have experienced issues with your IdeaPad Gaming 3 15. This model IdeaPad Gaming ships with an integrated 45Wh battery, which within this model configuration, has a battery life of up to 5 hours, depending on the work the device is performing. If you are getting substantially less battery life, first, set your screen brightness at less than 100-percent - try 80-percent to start with. Then, be sure Battery Charge Threshold is turned off. This power management setting should only be used when the laptop is plugged in all the time. It will prolong overall battery life by only charging the battery to 60-percent of capacity. You can turn off Battery Charge Threshold within the Lenovo Vantage APP installed on this computer. In Vantage select Battery Settings and turn off Battery Charge Threshold, if turned on. Also, here is a link to a webpage that details various options for disabling background applications and processes that may be using battery: https://allthings.how/how-to-turn-off-background-apps-in-windows-11/ Upon making these changes, if the issue persists, we recommend reaching out to Lenovo Tech Support with this number for additional assistance: 877-453-6686. If you can find it on sale 550 - 599 then it’s a decent deal but you HAVE to increase the RAM to 16 Gb and the hard drive or SSD to at least 1 terabytes plus you need a mounting screw for the SSD, so you will be spending at least another 125 to 130 in upgrade. As far as the battery goes, yes it will not last long for example when I was playing a game on it it kept asking me to plug in the cable even though it was plugged in! Battery will not charge with the provided adapter unless you stop playing on it. With the fan noise of the laptop you can easily wake up a sleeping person. Keeping all that in mind at 899 it’s not worth it but for 550 or 599 then yes it’s a decent laptop. Lenovo went really cheap on this laptop.

I love this laptop. It's not paper-thin or ultra-light, and it's not top of the line for gaming purposes, but paper-thin and ultra-light gaming laptops come at a vastly higher price. The games look great on the screen or ported via HDMI to a monitor, it will play just about anything you'd want to play these days, and it's fast enough to handle the workload out of the box. It's also very easy to upgrade, even for a guy like me with zero technical know-how. I watched a quick YouTube video and was able to upgrade to 32GB of Memory and add a 2TB hard drive (in addition to the existing 256GB hard drive). Battery kinda stinks when running anything labor intensive. Bottom line, great product at a great price, would definitely buy if you're looking to play some games at an affordable price.

"Year in Review: Impressive Performance and Upgrad

After a year of usage, I must say the performance of my computer has been quite impressive. I primarily use it for programming purposes, but I also engage in online gaming with titles like PUBG through Steam, COD, and GTA 5. Additionally, I do a lot of web browsing, usually with 10 to 15 tabs open simultaneously. In terms of battery life, it lasts for approximately 5 hours, but that's not surprising given the heavy workload with numerous applications and frequent YouTube video streaming. To enhance its capabilities, I upgraded the system by adding 8GB of RAM and expanding the storage to 2TB with a new SSD. These improvements have made it a much more robust machine for my needs.

Performance is great for gaming out of the box but if you want the most out of it you will need to buy extra ram. 8gb or ram is usable but 16gb is way better so buy a ram kit or another 8gb stick. Will also recommend getting a laptop stand to have the best airflow since having it flat on a desk isn't the greatest. Storage is a bit low but its fast so only upgrade if you need more storage. The worst part of the laptop is the battery life and is to be expected from a gaming laptop so use it plugged in. Using the battery for regular things like homework or video streaming the battery life is ok.

An excellent laptop for the sale price. I needed a new laptop for college, and for the price range this was by far the best option. It runs games better than my PC and the battery lasts at least long enough to take to classes for notes without having to charge. It has low storage, but it can be expanded. (Mine came with the screw kits, so if someone is missing theirs like in the question section, they should make sure they didn't throw it away. If they did, or they're the wrong screws, it's a $5 fix. I haven't upgraded mine yet.) I definitely recommend for a budget.

I love this laptop and I paid only 599, with tax 650. But its not the greatest stock, it also aint the worst. This thing will get you far stock but for more intense games, you'll need at least another 8gb stick, and some storage. But dont think its bad, this thing is a great budget laptop, never breaks a sweat. Pro: Fast computing, budget friendly, high refresh rate, great display, and fast wifi speeds. Cons: battery life isnt greatest especially with uprgraded ram or storage, and the vram from gpu is only 6gb which will do great in most AAA titles but aint going to stop you. Overall. I highly recommend picking this up especially on a tight budget, this thing will last you years to come with exceptional speeds. Lenovo has you covered on this laptop, so make sure to take advantage of this amazing laptop while you still can.

Almost every game I've played on this has played great without hiccups, AFTER upgrading the ram. Can't play super demanding games on it at high settings, but most games perform just fine! Has a few issues with the screen going black on boot up ( it just seems to be when I move it) just simply takes a restart and it's fine.
