Customers are saying

Customers commend the Ideapad Gaming 3 for its strong performance, especially in gaming, and its upgradable RAM, making it a good value for the price. However, some users point to shortcomings in battery life and storage capacity as areas for improvement. The screen brightness and potential overheating issues were also noted as concerns by a few customers. While generally considered easy to use, some users suggest considering upgrades to the power supply and storage for optimal performance.

Definitely worth the buy if you're looking for something budget friendly. Bought this and the HP Victus 15.6 on the same day, and this Lenovo runs circles around the HP. Upgraded the memory to 32gb from the 8gb it came with factory. Went ahead and added 1TB NVMe of storage since it has an extra pcie slot. I knew the 256gb wasn't going to be enough storage.

I'm not a hardcore gamer but wanted something to play games on when I travel. After reading some of the reviews here I decided to bump the ram up to 16GB and add a second storage drive. In my case I added a 1TB 2.5" SSD using the included drive bracket and now I've got space for all of my games plus more without filling up the internal SSD. The machine is accessible by removing the bottom cover, which exposes the RAM and storage so the upgrades were fairly painless. The only issue I ran into was prying it apart initially since there's plastic clips around the edge that help to hold the bottom in place. I used a cell phone repair tool to carefully separate the cover from the unit so it wouldn't damage the plastic. You can't beat the price for what you get. I've thrown several games at it and the machine handles them without any issues, even with most of them at the maximum settings. The build quality on this machine is decent and the brushed metal lid is a nice touch. Overall it feels solid and isn't too bulky like other gaming laptops I looked at. I wanted something portable yet reasonably durable and I think this hits the mark.

Hello, DerekM, we are sorry to hear that your IdeaPad Gaming 3 15 did not meet your expectations. In advance, this is a lengthy response, as we want to completely address your pronouncement of your perspective. This model IdeaPad ships with a 135W power adapter and an integrated 45Wh battery, which within this model configuration, has a battery life of up to 5 hours, depending on the work the device is performing. If you are getting substantially less battery life, first, set your screen brightness at less than 100-percent - try 80-percent to start with. Then, be sure Battery Charge Threshold is turned off. This power management setting should only be used when the laptop is plugged in all the time. It will prolong overall battery life by only charging the battery to 60-percent of capacity. You can turn off Battery Charge Threshold within the Lenovo Vantage APP installed on this computer. In Vantage select Battery Settings and turn off Battery Charge Threshold, if turned on. Also, here is a link to a webpage that details various options for disabling background applications and processes that may be using battery: https://allthings.how/how-to-turn-off-background-apps-in-windows-11/ Upon making these changes, if the issue persists, we recommend reaching out to Lenovo Tech Support with this number for additional assistance: 877-453-6686. Regarding the memory that ships with this IdeaPad, this model features 8GB of RAM and is upgradable up to 16GB DDR4-3200. Depending on the user's needs, the amount of memory necessary to run a certain game can vary, and while there are Lenovo gaming laptops assorted within Best Buy that feature more than 8GGB of memory, models like this IdeaPad Gaming exist to help ensure anyone can find a computer tailored to their needs. We recommend reviewing the specifications of a device and verify it will meet the requirements of any software you intend to use or will keep up with its intended workload. Lenovo

I cant get regular desktop screen back. I get a lenovo screen saver. I cant remove. I bought this computer. It doesn't belong to lenovo. It belongs to me. Why they removed my family photos and put lenovo desktop logo instead? I have a MCSE and as an engineer I am very disappointed with lenovo.

    Great Deal at $550

Bought this for my younger brother for $550 as part of the black friday deal. Great value for the price ! The RTX 3050ti GPU is good enough for most recent games. Recommend adding another 8GB stick of ram though, as the installed RAM only runs in single channel mode and will hinder gaming performance. would not recommend at $899, but definitely at $550

    Poor Quality

Had to be returned. Overheated after a couple of minutes of game play. Every game. Only seemed to run o.k. with the integrated graphics card. It was an open box, supposed to be in excellent condition. There were scratches on the power brick, and over some of the laptop itself. I wouldn't recommend buying an opened box laptop. You simply have no clue what some else has done to it.
