Customers commend the Ideapad Gaming 3 for its strong performance, especially in gaming, and its upgradable RAM, making it a good value for the price. However, some users point to shortcomings in battery life and storage capacity as areas for improvement. The screen brightness and potential overheating issues were also noted as concerns by a few customers. While generally considered easy to use, some users suggest considering upgrades to the power supply and storage for optimal performance.

This is a good laptop in general, especially considering the price. But after 2 years of use, I found two issues: 8gb of memory its not enough working together this processor and GPU, I had to make an upgrade for 16gb. Doing this, I'm experiencing issues with the battery, it's last just 1 hour without charging.

Bought this for my daughter as a reward for good grades but I end up being the one playing it non stop. I added 8 extra gigs of ram and a 1 terabyte hdd. Bought both from best buy for like an extra $100. Laptop is amazing for emulation and gaming. I run gamecube and ps2 games on it mostly, also games from steam. No slow down or lag on anything. Only downside is the battery drains very fast, so be prepared to just leave it on the charger at all times while gaming. On some high end games the fan gets sort a loud but nothing too noisy. Laptop runs ps2 games better than my ps2 lol. I use my ps5 controller with this computer. 5 stars, especially for the price !

For the $549 sale, I would recommend this pc, but not for $800+. As others have stated adding ram and storage brings this pc to another level. I’m able to play Destiny on high/medium at 85-95+ fps in most scenarios. Cooling seems to be pretty solid as it never goes above 75-80c while gpu is at 99% usage. The battery drain while plugged in has not been an issue for me either, however I would buy the 170 watt adapter if it does become one.

Best laptop I've ever owned. Took a chance because there was a decent sale and I'm am very impressed with the way it handles my games. I did add an additional 8 gigs of ram bringing it up to 16 and I would highly recommend doing the same if you purchase this. Well done, Lenovo!

This laptop runs smooth and doesnt lag. The only cons about this laptop is a storage and battery life. The storage you can fix by buying a external storage but for the battery life, i am running with all high settings, it only gives me 2hrs. Im a electrical engineering student and so far its been great if you dont mind the battery life. Its able to run matlab, excel, adrunio at the same time without it lagging. Cant run xlinix due to it being windows 11 since its not supported but i am able to run a burtual desktop which also runs smooth. I can play gta 5 with the highest settings and fortnite too.

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15 Gaming Laptop, model number 82K201XCUS. This model ships with a Integrated 45Wh, Lithium-Polymer Battery, which within this model configuration, has a battery life of up to 5 hours, depending on the work the device is performing. To increase battery life between charges, switch your Power Management Settings to a Hybrid Mode. So other tips for extending battery life between charges: Set your screen brightness at less than 100-percent - try 80-percent to start with. Then, be sure Battery Charge Threshold is turned off. This power management setting should only be used when the laptop is plugged in all the time. It will prolong overall battery life by only charging the battery to 60-percent of capacity. You can turn off Battery Charge Threshold within the Lenovo Vantage APP installed on this computer. In Vantage select Battery Settings and turn off Battery Charge Threshold, if turned on. Also check what programs are running in the background on the computer. Be sure only the programs you want running in the background are. These programs will drain the battery. Here is a link to information about how to find out what programs are running in the background on your Windows 11 computer and how to manage them for better system performance: https://websiteforstudents.com/how-to-find-what-is-running-in-windows-11/. Then, finally, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 11. Incompatible software will drain the battery at a faster rate. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of your Windows 11 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686.

Let me start off by saying right after I received this laptop in the mail, before doing anything I immediately upgraded the ram to x2 8gb 3200Mhz Crucial ram sticks giving it dual channel and installed A 1tb Samsung 980 nvme ssd which I played both the following games on.
I purchased this laptop as A Christmas present for my sister who only really plays The Sims, which this laptop plays flawlessly between 250 and 300 fps without overclocking. However before I wrapped it up and stuck it under the tree I just had to test it out for myself and put it through a little stress test so I downloaded Valorant and played it for A good 3 to 4 hours using the Lenovo Vantage overclocking system. The laptop handled the game surprising well hovering around 85 to 95 fps during gameplay, and the GPU temps never went over 85 degrees. The fans are quite impressive but are also quite noisy with the vantage overclocking turned on. However the one major issue I found during this gameplay is the charger can’t keep up with this type of gameplay for very long, it’s only a 135w charger. I started out playing the game with the laptop fully charged at 100% and plugged in charging, by the time I was done playing, not unplugging it once, the battery was down to 35%. I don’t know why Lenovo doesn’t give you the 170w or 230w charger that the legion uses, but it is what it is. So with that said, in my opinion if you’re going to use this laptop for light gaming like playing The Sims or other games of the sort to your hearts content, or playing high demanding eSports tittles for only a few hours at a time, this will be the perfect laptop for you. However if you plan on streaming or playing competitive eSports titles for hours on end, I would go with something like the Lenovo Legion 5.

I bought this lap top at best buy in Mankato Minnesota. I love it I can play games, check my email, go on social media accounts ect and do my home office work off it it. My screen resolution is amazing! It's very easy to use. It's highly durable which was a big deal for me in deciding my purchase. It has the desired amount of storage space which was a big factor in my decision as well. I have already transferred a ton of family photos and videos as well as my music which really means a lot to me. In all I am extremely happy with my purchase. On a side note the staff at best buy in Mankato was highly knowledgeable and helpful in helping me pick which lap top I wanted. I would definitely buy another one.

I bought this during a Black Friday sale for $550 with the intention of replacing the RAM and SSD with better ones. I upgraded the 8gb RAM to 16 gb and the 256 gb to 1 TB. In total I paid ~$700 including the new parts which feels like a steal. This laptop runs awesome; I bought it for both school and gaming and it handles both great. I normally play on my PS5 so this has been a great addition to occasional PC gaming. This truly is a fantastic pick for those looking at getting a budget friendly gaming laptop. I’m very impressed how well it has run my games so far.
Keep reading if you’re looking to upgrade the parts like me:
As far as the RAM, this laptop comes with a single 8gb RAM (not a x2 4gb), but it has the space for two, so I purchased 16 gb (8gb x2). If you wanted 32 gb you can, I felt 16 was adequate and spared me the extra $50. It was very easy to replace and the laptop automatically updated itself with the new RAM which was painless and seamless.
The SSD storage: this laptop actually comes within 2 different SSD slots. The 256 gb is a SATA SSD but it also comes with an M.2 SSD slot. I thought I was going to have to replace it entirely which would have been a bit of a pain since it has all the windows software. So I easily added my 1TB M.2 PCle as an addition. I now have two separate drives but I have more space than I anticipated and didn’t have to deal with the pain of reinstalling windows software.
All of this took about 30 min with no hassle so I was able to build a real solid school/gaming laptop for a great price.
