Lots of Bang for the Buck

I was reluctant to get the Lenovo A2109 Tablet at first because of some of the negative remarks. Some being the picture having a limited viewing angle, the power button hard to use, etc. I had the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.70 which was very nice. But I wanted something a bit bigger to ease my aging eyes. I decided to try the Lenovo, I knew I could return it if not satisfied. Well, let me tell you, I'm NOT going to return it. This little powerhouse is amazing. I've owned several tablets and they ALL have a sweet spot when it comes to viewing angles. The Lenovo is no different. If you tilt the device to an extreme level the picture does wash out, but really people, who watches a video at that angle? If you hold the tablet in a normal viewing angle the picture is vibrant, with rich colors. The "sweet" spot really is no better or no worse than any other tablet I've owned. Next, the power button. It isn't flush with the unit, but it don't stick out prominately. I like this ...mainly because you're not accidently hitting it making the unit go into sleep mode. The button is on the top left corner..just run your finger along the edge, you'll feel it ... press and hold it ...it will buzz and the unit will power on. Press it again and the unit goes into sleep mode. I had absolutely NO problems finding or using the power button. The unit itself is easy to set up and customize. I've noticed hardly any lag in operating it .... it simply is almost flawless. The Micro SD drive is hidden under a flap where the camera and speakers are. I heard complaints about this ....i prefer it under the flap... for one thing it keeps dirt and dust out of the drive ....and honestly, how many times do you need to take out the card once you insert it? It's usually a one time deal. ....and the unit does accept the Sandisk 64 GB card without issue. All in all i really am impressed with this unit... it's a keeper...it's fast, reliable, great picture, decent battery life #downloading does drain more power# but watching videos, or listening to music, or playing games, or just plain surfing the web can be done for hours. I believe on initial setup when downloading and customizing i got about 4.5 hrs. After that with normal use i get around 9 hrs before charging. If you're in the market for a great tablet at a great price ... don't hesitate to get this postscript: The soundsystem uses srs surround technology. While this doesn't give you room thumping bass, it does, at a normal listening level, and depending on the sound source, give you a pleasing spacial sound to your movies.

    Great Ipad/Nexus/Fire HD alternative

Prior to purchasing this product, I was looking for a tablet that is less expensive than an Ipad, one that has a larger screen than a Google Nexus, and one that is not limited to Amazon's ecosystem. I am happy to say that this tablet sufficiently satisfied all criteria mentioned. My main concern when researching this tablet was that others had mentioned that the screen was troublesome. Third party review sites (CNet, Consumer Reports, etc.) were mixed on the issue. To be sure, this does not have an IPS display, but I have yet to encounter a situation where the screen cannot be seen clearly. As long as you are not viewing it from an absurd angle, the screen is great. I will say that the auto-brightness setting is too dark for me if there is any natural ambient light. The tablet comes with an adjustment widget so you can quickly and easily adjust the brightness if needed, and you can also adjust it using the settings tab all ICS tablets have. I do not see the auto-bright mode as a limitation, but be prepared for reduced battery life if you use a brighter setting. I have no other negative comments about the tablet. The screen sensitivity is perfect and ICS moves smoothly through different functions. The ICS operating system is intuitive, but I do recommend spending a while learning all of its functions before venturing out to the Google Play store. You will find it easier to customize the location of your apps and their functionality before you add a bunch of clutter. Also, I strongly recommend reviewing the apps it comes with before going to the Google Play store. It had far more than I thought it had. This might save some money in app redundancy. Overall, I highly recommend this product. It is built to last and is highly functional. Unless you are a highly-biased Apple sympathizer (which would beg the question of why you would research this at all) or part of an overly-scrutinizing enclave of PC peripheral geniuses, you will not be disappointed.

    Great, fun tablet

This is my first tablet. I got this so that I can leave my laptop in my office and still have something to look things up, check my email in the living room, listen to a podcast while I move about the house or look up a recipe when I am cooking. It does everything I need, and quickly! The Ice Cream Sandwich OS is super smooth on here, and it just works. There are a lot of complaints about the viewing angle, and that is indeed a minus. However, it only really comes into play when you are off to the side of it in a vertical orientation. I am finding much of what I use it for has it in a horizontal orientation, and the range is much wider side-to-side this way. It has not negatively impacted my use. The other slight negative for me is that Lenovo's own apps and app store are defunct. I guess there was too much competition in that market from Google, Amazon, indepenednt etc...that they dropped support, so the tablet comes loaded with several non-working widgets. Not the end of the world. I removed them from my screen and don't think much of it. Those are the only two things I have as cons against this as a great light-use 'living room' tablet. My goals in buying a tablet were to get one that was compact, with HDMI out so I can play media via my TV, with expandable memory for downloading said media that would be budget friendly and would be no hassle. I was originally looking at 7" tablets but didn't find much that met the rest of the criteria and I have been pleasantly surprised with my enjoyment of the dimension of the screen. Not cramped at all.

Originally, I bought an Asus Transformer Infinity TF700T with the keyboard dock. I was trying the experiment of using a tablet instead of a laptop. Using a tablet instead of a laptop didn't work well for a variety of reasons. In the end, we decided to buy a cheap laptop and the Lenovo IdeaTab. The Lenovo IdeaTab is more responsive than the Transformer Infinity, even though it is running Ice Cream Sandwich instead of Jelly Bean. The screen isn't as nice though. The IdeaTab's screen is like a laptop's screen: if it is rotated at a funky angle, then the colors look funny. I didn't even notice this issue until I read reviews about the product, and it still doesn't really bother me much. The screen might bother me more if I used it outside more (the glare on the screen is pretty intense). The 1280 x 800 resolution has better compatibility and speed with apps than the Transformer Infinity's 1920 x 1080. Usually I prefer a higher resolution, but the lower resolution has been much better for android apps right now. If you want to do real work, use a laptop. For web browsing, watching videos, and playing casual games, the Lenovo IdeaTab is great and cheap.

Best premuium Choice Tablet for under $350

I pick up this super fast tablet from bestbuy with the Red M-Edge Cover for Galaxy Tab 8.9" all under $315.( $343. with NYS sale Tax ) because this Tab has high end features and Specifications in Alumium shell with roll cage like the ThinkPad Notebook/Tablet... The IPS glass display Screen is Beautiful and the tablet fell solid and super fast with no lag.or slow down ( This is a Tiny and Light 9" Tablet). .I've owned many Android 10.1" Tablets from Asus to Toshiba and this A2109 will stick with me and pass down to my family without selling on Ebay for a new replacement within few months .. The Lenovo S2-A2109 tablet look just like Samsung 8.9 Tab and i see no difference in outdoor using both Tablet.s Note- the Micro SD card slot is under the camera area which needed to( PUSH Out ONLY from bottom to top ) on the 2 tabs next to the speakers ..the speakers is loud and great sound ...The battery life is very good lasted 9-10 hours listing to internet radio while surfing. . the camera is ok..... great supprt with OTA update to ICS 4.0.4 with that .I just have to give this Tablet a Big 5 rating

    Good tablet for the price

I've just had this for a week or so and this is my first tablet. I find this tablet to be a great value for the price. It seems to be well-made and it seems to run all of the apps and software well. I like the size although it seems to be just on the edge of being small enough to comfortably hold without getting tired. I haven't used a lot of peripherals with it so far, but I was able to plug in a USB keyboard designed for 9 inch tablets that seems to work well. It is fairly easy to type on the on-screen keyboard, especially in landscape format, but an external keyboard makes it easier to type longer pieces. I have been able to set up pretty much what I need, but there are certain limitations to Android at this point. There doesn't seem to be an app that will handle some of the more intricate formatting aspects of Office documents and it doesn't seem to be possible to play Amazon videos. I'm sure that over time, some of these limitations will be addressed by new software offerings, but for now, anyone buying an Android tablet should be aware of them. If you can live with a few of these small things, this tablet is a great value. It's about half the price of an iPad and and seems to be of high enough quality to be a good choice.

I have owned many laptops and worked on many desktop computers. The Lenovo A2109 is my first tablet. It has everything: adequate memory at 16 gigabytes, bluetooth, WiFi, HDMI out, a slot for a micro SD card, a mini-USB port, an earphone jack, a GPS, a fast processor. The sound is good for a tablet and in true stereo. The display or screen is good HD and adequately bright, so long as you turn off the automatic brightness control and set the brightness manualy to around 50% (for my 68 year old eyes). My only caveat is the Lenovo support. The manual in the box tells you next to nothing. It doesn't even tell you where the on switch is or how long you have to press it to turn it on. The manual on line tells you a little more, but not enough. There is no support for the micro SD card, but my 16 gigabyte card works just fine. Overall, I would recommend this tablet highly--as long as you're willng to spend some time learning how to use it. It is the best bargain around in a tablet.

    Perfect mid-level tablet

I've been using android smartphones for several years and have become quite comfortable with the operating system. All my information from my Google account is seamlessly synced between all my devices. Plenty of preinstalled apps, Cloud printing, Kindle, YouTube, Skype, Google Chrome, Docs to Go (PDF, Word, Excel, etc. Full version!) This tablet has a blazing fast quad core tegra 3 processor, which blew all the other tablets out of the water as I benchmarked them using Quadrant in the store with the score of 4007 (compared to Samsung Tab 2 with 2766, Insignia A200 with 1923). Ample RAM, excellent video, it DOES have a MicroSD port, it's behind the off-color plastic bezel on the back, between the speakers. Battery life is excellent, well over 2 days with moderate use. Very accurate GPS. This is a must buy if you're looking for a sub $300 tablet.

overall I love this tablet, I found it to be super fast and very very responsive and fast for being a budget tablet. I did I own the Acer a 700 quad core High Definition tablet but compared to this it seems low budget really because it was super slow compared to Lenovo that I recently purchased.after purchasing the Lenovo tablet, I compared my Acer and this one side by side and found this one to be three times faster at loading web pages and opening apps compared to the Acer.in fact, I am using the microphone button on the keyboard to write this review, I am really coming to love this tablet.I haven't had a single problem with viewing angles on the Lenovo, I do not see what the other people are talking about. The only time I cannot see the display on the tablet screen is if I am holding the tablet at such an angle I couldn't read the words anyway. Overall, a superb tablet by lenovo. And honestly I have always been partial to the Acer brand. I was deciding between this one and the asus , but I chose this one hands down, due to the very reasonable price.

After testing and returning three different tablets, I finally decided the Lenovo A2109 was "the one". I originally received a Prestige 7" as a Christmas present and was very disappointed. I exchanged it for an Acer 10" (which was on sale for $130 off original price) and again was underwhelmed, mainly from the Acer constantly freezing and being generally unreliable. My next tab of choice was a 7" Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, which is a great tablet and one that I kept for about 3 weeks until finding this one for $80 off. Have I finally found the perfect tablet? No, but for the price I paid and the size I am satisfied with my decision. Some things I would change to make this the perfect tablet would be: - 8" screen would be optimal - HD display (i.e. Kindle HD) - extended battery life (not terrible, but could definitely be improved) - better availability of cases (cases for Kindle Fire 8.9 WILL work, but are not a perfect fit) Hopefully this review will help any potential buyers :-)

The Lenovo IdeaTab A2109 is a fantastic piece of technology. It's fast, sleek, and sexy. I've been researching the purchase of an Android tablet for several months. The Nexus 7 by Google was very attractive, however after taking it for a test drive I found that the 7" screen was just too small. However, I wanted the same Tegra 3 CPU, 1GB of RAM, a minimum of 16GB of storage, a good display, microSD card slot, and HDMI out. The IdeaTab features a 9" screen, which I feel is the sweet spot since 10.1" screens feel to me a tad unwieldy. Games scream on the ultra-fast Tegra 3 CPU and I haven't experienced any lag whatsoever. I didn't expect to find the perfect package in a product from Lenovo, but it has certainly exceeded my expectations in every respect!

This has a lot of the same specs as the highly touted Nexus 7 - NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB. 9-inch 1280 x 800 resolution HD display isn't as good as the Nexus 7, but works just fine for me. It also has a microSD card slot, microHDMI, 2 speakers, front and back cameras. It has ICS only, but there may be an update to Jelly Bean in the future. So far, I can't find any cases specifically made for the A2109. Wasn't sure if there was a file manager, but there are good ones that could be downloaded. Video/pictures aren't great, but that's why I have a DSLR. It just looks funny when people are using a tablet to take pictures at any event.

I have 2 Acer tablets (10" & 7") and some 7" off brands. The Lenovo is the best tablet I've used. The size is just right for me, and the quad core processor makes it very responsive. The memory is just right. I have over 100 apps, several Bible translations, and a lot of data on the internal SD card. I also have a lot of music and pictures (little video) on the external card (32 GB class 10). The HDMI out works well. The Lenovo Launcher app is much better than the standard ICS launcher. The case is high quality, but it is slick, so I have some adhesive grippers left over from my PDA on the back. I would prefer a folio case or a gel skin, but there don't seem to be any for 9" tablets.

I tried several tablets in this price range and this one seemed to be refined and the screen was fairly responsive compared to several of the tablets on display at Best Buy so I chose this one. The 6,000 mAH battery seems to go a good while when watching Netflix or youtube and the WiFi connection seems to be pretty good because I'm using it in an area at work that several of my slightly older laptops don't really connect well. The screen is pretty nice and detailed for it being so large. It's designed for 720HD (1280x720 video aspect) which is where most tablets and smart phones are at. The only thing that didn't seem all that impressive was the cameras but I'm comparing them to my HTC DNA that was designed with great cameras and the tablet isn't exactly designed to be carried around to shoot videos and photos anyway. I'm happy with it.

Great tablet for the person who does not want to spend a lot of money. Very quick on loading apps and surfing the internet. The screen quality is excellent, however i do recommend a screen protector to help with the glare on the screen. Only issue i had with the tablet is that i could never get the Lenovo App store to open and fully load. I also had to download another video player from the Google App store so that it would play other format movies. Out of the box it seems to play mp4 movies just fine, but will not play the .avi movies. The audio could be a bit louder, in loud environments with headphones it was just not loud enough for me. Other than that, no issues. Just wish they would come out with a case for it with a stand.

As another reviewer has noted the version of this tablet that showed up at best buy this week indeed has a micro SD card slot ... even though there is no mention of it in the documentation or specs. It's hidden under the removable back cover -- the cover you can remove by pulling up on the two speaker slots. I bought this tablet this week. It's fast as could be and seems well built. I prefer the screen size to that of my spouse's Nexus7 tablet ... easier on the eyes and a bigger surface for the keyboard. What's not hot? As others have noted, the display is just OK.

I first bought a Samsung Galaxy but thought it was slow (tegra dual core versus tegra quad core). I currently own a 7" Coby and a 7" Acer which were fine tablets. I wanted a bit larger screen so I first bought the Samsung. When I took it back I found the Lenovo A2109 and have never looked back. Lightning fast, responsive and good "feel". I read all the negative reviews elsewhere but took the plunge anyway and do not regret it. Android is not easy to understand at first, but with patience anyone can master it. It updated to Jelly Bean the first hour I had it. It also has OTG USB, USB charger port as well as micro SD slot. Absolutely love it!

I wanted a unit that was good for book reading, document review and net surfing. I felt like the 7 inch tablet was too small and the 10+ inch units were too big This unit is just right. It is lighter and easier to carry but is big enough to use for all the things I need it for. It works better than the smaller units for typing as well. Keys on small units caused a lot of fat fingering for me. The screen quality is fine despite some of the negative reviews I have seen. I was able to get a screen protector and a nice stand cover for the unit that completed the package for me.

I've owned this product now for about 24 hours. I am impressed. Battery life, speed of the processor, web browsing ability, video playback, and voice recognition are all excellent. The only thing I can dink this device for is its display. It does not have the inky and sharp display many tablets have, but at this price point you must give up something. It will look great for most and for even some of the most discerning eyes. The Android OS does take some getting use to. From a user friendly perspective an iPad clearly maybe a better choice for some. However, if you are technically inclined at all then I think i this device is a great fit.

I previously had a Toshiba Thrive 10", which was a good tablet but just too thick and bulky. I wanted a tablet that was smaller, but thought that 7" might be too small. This tablet is the perfect size - very nice to hold. The screen is the perfect size. The A2109 is very fast - noticeably faster than the Thrive. Chrome web browser runs a lot faster on this tablet. Plus, it has all the ports and SD card slot. Battery life is better than the Thrive, also. I have owned the A2109 for 2 weeks with no problems. Excellent tablet!! The only negative would be that there are currently no slim cases for it.
