I upgraded the m.2 to a Samsung Evo Plus 500GB drive. I switched out the RAM to 32GB 2933 Mhz (2 × 16GB). It has a 1660ti independent graphics nvidia gpu and 120hz screen, a 10th gen 6 Core i7 that turbo boosts to 5.0 ghz! It zips through anything. Great for the price!

Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This laptop is great, plenty of upgrade options (currently 2TB SATA SSD, 2TB M2 SSD, and 32G RAM) fantastic GPU, beautiful screen, is not terribly heavy or clunky, and seems durable. The only flaw is the cooling system/fans. Even with a "laptop cooling pad" (plastic housing with fans inside) it still runs hot when used for more than light web browsing. This is partially due to the internal placement of the SSD/HDD and the poor fan design that gets filled with dust to the point that I have to blow it out with compressed air at least once a week. All in all, it's a fantastic machine that should keep up with the latest AAA titles for another couple years at least and run anything pre-2020 at max graphics and still maintain 60FPS.

The area where this computer is lacking is the shorter battery life. The battery life isn't that much of an issue for me as I leave it plugged in most of the time. I would suggest waiting until this computer is on sale as the current full price doesn't match what you get.

First I get a notification that my laptop is delivered but there is nothing in my porch. So I make a couple of calls and an agent says that their driver said they had now delivered to the right home. Well, still no laptop. Finally I have someone show up with my delivery stating they had delivered elsewhere. And that their access to the delivery service has been cut off. Finally I’m ready to open the box and notice the security seal has been removed and another tape was put on top of it. Too much for me to handle, so returned it at the store and bought another one. The laptop itself is great and my 13 year old loves the speed for his games! I did notice it gets loud with the fan though...are you seeing that as well?

It is normal for the fans to ramp up during gaming. You can easily change the performance mode to quote down the fans. You can use Lenovo Q-Control to manually control fan performance: (Fn + Q ) option to change the fan speed and performance mode.

After owning SB-3 (s), Razer(s), Omen, Asus etc..I almost gave up thinking that there isn't anything that "will have it all". Maybe I just found the right combination of speed, power, weight, graphics etc in this...can't say..so far so good. Like I said..i don't want to jinx it. Upgraded the RAM to 16gb and this thing is Flying..lol

It's definitely helped me work on the things I need to do for school especially with running programs and multitasking. The only con is the battery life... super powerful but you have to be near an outlet if you wanna keep working for hours.

This model ships with a 4CELL_60WH_INTERNAL, Lithium Polymer Battery, which within this configuration, has a battery life of up to 5 hours, depending on the work the device is performing. If you are getting substantially less battery life, first, set your screen brightness at less than 100-percent - try 80-percent to start with. Then, be sure Battery conservation Mode is turned off. This power management setting should only be used when the laptop is plugged in all the time. It will prolong overall battery life by only charging the battery to 60-percent of capacity. Here is a link to instructions for turning off Battery Conservation Mode: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht103159. Also check what programs are running in the background on the computer. Be sure only the programs you want running in the background are. These programs will drain the battery. Here is a link to information about how to find out what programs are running in the background on your Windows 10 computer and how to manage them for better system performance: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-prevent-apps-running-background-windows-10. Then, finally, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. Incompatible software will drain the battery at a faster rate. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. With this computer, I was able to get 75-90 fps, on ultra settings! Quick boot up, awesome graphics, and great for the price!

A Great Machine!

It is capable of a lot, and even tho I did not buy it for gaming, but for podcasts and recording, I can see the graphics far exceed any pc I have had to date, even the gaming machine I bought last does not compare in graphics. My only beefs are not the fault of Lenovo or this pc, but personal peeves with MS and W10, but there is no getting around that unless you want to go Linus system, I don't. If you are a gamer, I think you will be happy with this machine, it has plenty of space and memory, and the ability to upgrade the memory too. We bought this on April 26th, and 2 weeks later ran back and bought another so my hubby could have his own, that alone says a lot!! I continue to hope I am still happy 5 or more years from now lol!!!

The speed and storage were great even before I upgraded the ram and added another SSD. Stays cool and is lightweight. My only issues are the graphics could be sharper, and the screen is small. I have added a monitor to offset the small screen size.

Like a lot of people we didn't want to spent a fortune for a gaming laptop but wanted something that would play most games without issue. This laptop has a nice 10'th gen I-7 processor, a 120mhz screen, a 512gb SSD drive and GeForce 1660Ti video. It has really good upgrade ability as you can add an additional drive and additional ram. Lenovo really checked all the boxes on a laptop that is reasonable for what it is, can play today's games well and won't be worthless in a month.

Legion 5 - Great little gaming laptop

Excellent display with bright, vibrant colors and 1080P 120Hz. Have had no issues and runs cool even when being used to stream live for 1 hour+ . Prior to purchasing I had heard others mention how 'HUGE' the AC Adapter was. When unboxing I was expecting to find some monster the size of a bread box. To my surprise while a bit larger than the adapter you may find with a standard laptop, but I would not consider it to be excessive by any means. All in all very happy with it and would definitely recommend.

Thus Far I am fairly happy with the item. The laptop performs really fast. My only concerns thus far is the battery life. It does seem to drain fairly quickly. Runs fast and it’s a total improvement from my last previous laptop. My favorite feature has to be the keyboard. You can also change the setting of the backlights as well by pressing the fn key and space.

He is a remote learner and needed a device that he would be able to complete schoolwork, any computer would’ve been fine. He WANTED a gaming computer and having previously owned Lenovo computers, this was the first place I looked. Look no more. The graphics are crisp and it is fast. Yes, it was a bit out of my price range but I knew that I would get what I paid for. No regrets. Will likely purchase another for my other son in the near future.
