I purchased this open box and it was listed as ‘Satisfactory’. I got it roughly $200 cheaper than the new ones, and it appears the only things it was missing was documents. The computer itself is just like new and even had some of the plastic wrapping on the charger. Broke college kid that I am, I’m very excited. The computer is bright, incredibly quick, and a great size for the screen and keyboard. A fun feature I didn’t realize was there is that they have a privacy shutter on the camera too, so I’m a happy buyer. https://www.pcgamebenchmark.com/ This website helped me pick out this computer, and rates it at 96%, which easily makes this the best and most reasonably priced gaming laptop I’ve come across.

I have had this bad boy for an entire day now. yes 1 day! and so far I do not regret my purchase. I am a 15yr veteran computer tech that has been building and working on computers since I was a little child. My parents fostered my interest in x86 hardware before I even got out of elementary school. I have owned and built many systems the last 25 yrs including custom gaming desktops and custom configured gaming laptops. With that said, I got out of the industry almost 10 yrs ago. Not long after Windows 8 came around. The last system I custom configured for myself was a Lenovo Y series laptop about 6 yrs ago. I have not used anything since then. (around the time I got out of the industry) so my comparisons are a bit dated but I will say this...… I am a bit disappointed. But in all honesty I can't blame Lenovo or this model I purchased as my complaints are not truly with either. Performance. A word I know very well when it comes to PC hardware. This laptop does in many ways far exceed my expectations and in others it falls almost a decade short of what I expected. On paper and indeed in the flesh, This little laptop packs a punch. I was not compared in anyway for the extreme performance difference between a SATA SSD and the M.2 PCIE SSD found in this system. Boot time. Load time, Game time, Install time, It doesn't matter. This drive is blistering fast! sustained write speeds are 1000mbs. Sustained read speeds are nearly 1200mbs. Peak reads come in around 1300mbs. That is fast! especially for a laptop in the mid range. The CPU in this system is a little slower than I expected. On paper it is capable of 5ghz when boosting. With little or no activity, It chimes in around 4.6-4.8ghz. This makes common task super fast. But this is a gaming laptop and sustained clock rates after an hour of gaming was around 3ghz. Honestly that isn't bad considering the base clock is 2.6ghz. I will be honest though, I do not have any games that can truly stress the CPU. As far as graphics go, This is probably the systems weakest component. Well, It comes in second behind the ram. On paper this should be comparable to a desktop GTX 1060 or right around the performance of a GTX 1070m. It has all the specs you need for presentable 1080P gaming. Sort of..... The truth is, There is no doubt a bottleneck here. I am going to guess heat related throttling. Do not get me wrong. Most my games can maintain 60 FPS or higher. Some get upwards of 120-150fps. These are good numbers. But you have to back off to mid or low settings even with many 5 yr old games in 1080P. I guess this is to be expected in a mid range laptop. And honestly even with high settings, Most my games run at a very playable 40+ fps. But as I will discuss in the next paragraph, It is a little disappointing. Probably the biggest surprise with this laptop is the awesome and stunningly beautiful built in display. Best buy gives a very vague description of it so let me set the record straight. THIS IS A FULL 120hz 1080P Display! The brightness is close to 300n. as anyone knows, That is well above average for a laptop in every way. Viewing angles are much better than I imagined and color accuracy is almost spot on. I would guess at least 90% accurate. The refresh late is high enough to make silky smooth 120fps scenes come to life in full HD glory. But sadly this graphics card is not equipped with enough umph to push it to its max in most games. That is the biggest let down of all. System ram is 8gb DDR4 @ 2933 or so MHz,. Intel always has strange memory speeds due in part to system bus and CPU interactions and clock rates. Nothing new here. The memory is recognized by my diagnostic utilities as DDR4 3200. It is 1x 8gb module running in single channel. I plan to immediately upgrade to 16gb and enabling dual channel. That will probably have a good performance increase. The touch pad is annoying however the keyboard is clean, responsive, and very colorful. I however can not get the Lenovo utility that changes the back light colors to work so I am stuck with the 3 default settings. Windows 10 isn't as bad as I expected it to be but windows updates (as usual) are slow and problematic. It appears for every 1 thing they fix, 2 things break. I only purchased this as a portable desktop replacement for gaming so that has not had much of an impact yet...… yet! Build quality is impressive and the touch and feel of the system is sturdy. The cooling systems appears to be good enough to hold its own most of the time. I played for 6 hours last night and the laptop never felt hot. indeed a little warm in areas of the keyboard and underside, But not hot. Aside from the disappointing frame rates and lack of ability to keep pace with the 120hz in most games is a let down. But honestly this system is barely over $1000 bucks at the time of my purchase. For the money It is a heck of a unit. I shopped around and compared many of last years systems and new systems for this year before I decided on this one. There was only 1 other laptop I found with a better price to performance ratio but it is by order from the manufacturer only (Dell G5 SE Ryzen) and I did not want to wait 2-3 weeks to get my new laptop. Best buy had this in stock. The sales kid was friendly and I was shocked at how much tech knowledge he had. He ultimately pointed out a few details I had not seen that made this the system to get. Lenovo extended warranty and accidental damage is cheap and a great value compared to other manufacturers and you can always back that up with Geek Squad support and protection if you feel you need it. I am glad I purchased this laptop and I am glad I got it at Best Buy. Thanks from a happy Customer!

set up very easy, runs very fast. It has backlit and can change the color, the screen is very clear. There are enough ports to satisfy daily jobs requirement. The battery has almost 5 hours by doing general works. the only cons is that if it has numeric keyboard a little bit stronger like the letter keys that will be better.

The aspect of this laptop helps you to use it everywhere. It’s powerful, it doesn't look like a gaming laptop and gives you the ability to create and edit video content. The only bad thing is the big charger and the 122 hz display that is really bad.

I purchased one of these Friday 8/28 and exchanged it for a different of the same model on 8/30 and will be returning it and buying a different machine on 9/1. I needed a new laptop for college after my hard drive crashed 2 days after moving to college. This is a sweet machine, good deal if you can find a cheap stick of RAM to upgrade it. No big complaints. EXCEPT The display absolutely spazzes out after you let it dim and then wake it back up. Doesn't matter what program is open or anything else is going on. Plugged in, not, ethernet, not anything. Beyond frustrating. When it happened to the first one, I exchanged it (Denver West Best Buy customer service rocks) and was glad they had another in stock. Then it happened again. Disappointed. Lenovo customer support is great but wanted to send a technician out to "fix" it. I don't have a flexible schedule to leave a day wide open for them to come fix it, and I can't deal with a laptop that barely works for a week while I wait on them to figure out what to do. If this happened to two models in a row - this is a documented issue with this machine.

my cousin bought me this deal from best buy on 14 January and brought me straight to Pakistan. Chose this brand after months of R&D. When I turned it on yesterday I saw this bright white spot with a blue line on screen, right in the middle. This was so so heart breaking for me since I spent all my savings on this laptop. Now I couldn't even cover it's international warranty in Pakistan. This shouldn't have happened....!!!!

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Lenovo Legion 5 15 Gaming Laptop, model number 81Y6000DUS. It is possible that resetting your computer back to original factory settings will correct the issue you are having. This system is equipped with OneKey Recovery System. There is a very small pin hole on the right side of the device, right near the headphone jack on the device. You will need a pin to push this reset button. Plug the device in. Let the battery charge for about 15 minutes. Push the reset button. The system should boot to a choice screen where you can choose "Restore To Factory Default". Select this. It will delete everything from the hard drive except the original factory install of the operating system. You will need to reinstall all programs and files after the reset. If you don't have copies of the files, try to make one before you restore by selecting "Boot to desktop" and trying to back up your files. Lenovo

All around probably the best mid range gaming laptop. Stays very cool under load and the laptop doesn't overheat during graphic intensive games. Keyboard and trackpad have a great feel. Running it through a USB dock enables a three monitor setup all at max resolution. I've upgraded the ram to dual channel 32GB and added an additional 1TB Samsung SSD making the machine lightning fast. This is a gaming laptop that is more than worth the money and has great bang for the buck.

I think the performance of this laptop is incredible for the price, I know people who have spent much more on laptops and PCs and still do not get the performance of this thing. I genuinely enjoyed everything about this laptop until I returned from class today and noticed there was a screw sitting on my desk. Upon further examination, I found out that the screw had fallen out of the bottom of the laptop so I decided to put it back and tighten the rest of the screws and was very disappointed to see that the screws were not tight and I’m surprised by this because it is a quality laptop. I still highly suggest this laptop, but be weary of the securing screws and maybe snug them up when you receive this laptop. I am a college student and it has worked great for all my classes and better than I could have imagined for late night gaming.

I bought this for when I’m in the go so I wouldn’t have to bring my whole pc, 27”monitor, and m&kb with me. I picked it up on sale for 800 2 days before Christmas. Great specs. Will take some getting used to the key layout and playing on a smaller screen. Only recommendation for future potential buyers is if you have the extra money get one with a 17” screen, will help with seeing things better. So far I’ve played rainbow six siege and over watch on this laptop. Everything runs smoothly and I get 130-180fps

I'm comparing this Lenovo laptop with 2 other gaming laptops. All three are year 2020 products with original prices between $999 and $1099. These are features only this Lenovo offers: 1. Two USB ports and an audio jack are on two sides of the laptop. The rest of USB ports, power, Ethernet, etc, are on the back. What a clean placement. 2. Best sound - it's powered by Harmon Kardon speakers and audio. Volume is not only louder, but also fuller/richer and more crisp. You can feel the surround sound. 3. Best display - it's brightness does not hurt my eyes and it is 120 Hz. The other laptops are 60 hz unless you pay an extra $100 for 120hz. 4. Most quiet fan compared to the other two laptops. But don't expect it to be as quiet as a non-gaming laptop, mind you. It doesn't overheat like one of the other two laptops. 5. Thermal (fan & temperature) profile is more intelligent. It has an option that can detect when you go into gaming mode and automatically switch thermal profile to Performance mode and automatically reset back to balance mode when you exit a game. All three laptops offer 3 to 4 profiles. But only this laptop has an extra option like this. All of these five unique attributes increase the quality of experience by a magnitude. One other laptop has a better GPU (RTX 2060). But the so so audio coupled with loud fan noise and overheat ruin the overall experience, especially the gaming experience. The actual gaming experience feels more immense with this Lenovo laptop!

Out of ALL the gaming laptops less than 1,100 dollars ......this was the ONLY one that didnt have simple overheating problems etc. My sisters ROG Zephryus S the one that looks different from alot of the others and a touch number pad on the right, did have that simple problem. Had to get her a cooling pad. For those who have Problems with the LIGHTING NOT BEING ABLE TO BE CHANGED ON THE KEYBOARD PLEASE READ. First step , uninstall and reinstall LENOVO VANTAGE. if that doesnt work install these Lenovo Vantage Gaming Feature Driver Lenovo Vantage Service for Windows These helped me be able to change the colors to what i wanted. I havent had a laptop in years due to personal reasons, i got sick and just couldnt handle having one. Didnt have the motivation to use one for years. This laptop Has been the best one ive had since my last one. An Hp touchscreen laptop. The Keys being so light to the touch was something to get use to as well as being ALMOST bezelless. From the outside it just looks like a work laptop. But the Legion logo has somewhat of a rainbow shimmer to it which makes it feel premium and not just like a mid tier laptop. The speed was unexpected. Ive been use to regular and slower ones so much that this one blew me out of the water. My first lenovo laptop. Did i mention it has a cover for the webcam? I didnt know until after i bought it. I have no more words

    This thing is a Beast

I am so glad that I ended up choosing this computer, because in all truth, it was available in a store near me and I just have been waiting a lot of years to game again. But with GPUs being so hard to get, I decided to just get anything I could. Luckily for me, this was one of the options I could. I slapped another 8 GB stick of ddr4 in as soon as I took it out of the box, and with it's now 16gb of ram, it's 10th gen 6 core i7 processor, and it's 1660 ti with 6gb vram this thing is a beast. Two beast fans surrounded by pipes that blow out on both sides near the rear and both ends of the back itself (4 points of ventilation). It runs at a decent temperature, surprisingly not getting too hot at all. It can hold either 1- 2.5 inch drive or it can be replaced with an NVMe drive instead, but not both. That is the only upgrade I plan to still make. Buy this. It's dope

All the specs seemed good for a computer for the office and an entry level gamer. When I got it home, I realized just how heavy it was, 5.42, that extra pound from other laptops I looked at was significant. I plugged it in, charged it up, turned it on and proceeded to watch the battery life drain before my eyes. I swear I saw the battery gauge move like it was the gas gauge on a 1972 big block Chevy Pickup doing 70 down the highway! Bottom line, the battery lasted about 3-3.5 hours. If you don't mind those two things, it worked and looks great, but due to those two things, I returned it, I am sorry to say. One other note, I use the ten key pad a lot. This has a medium size pad. I originally got it, because it was an 1/8" wider then most, but it wasn't wide enough. HP, makes a Spectre 15" Laptop, with a comparable NVIDIA card that has a normal 10 key pad.

Got this on sale for 949.99 I will be honest about a few things the screen is 120 hz that’s perfect! Thermals could be a bit better does have room to upgrade to either one 2.5 inch sata drive or one NVME m.2 drive kind of disappointed they manufactured so you couldn’t add both. From what I’ve read yes you can add two sticks of 16gb of ram but be warned I tried with g skill dual channel 16gb ram at 2667mhz and I had issues like MAJOR issues I had to revert back to 16gb of ram and the machine ran like a freaking champ! Blows away AAA games the 10gen i7 it’s phenomenal and when comparing to the ryzen 7 4800h it doesn’t have the weird glitchy issue where some Vulcan games would freeze for 5-10 seconds at a time

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo Legion 5 15 Gaming Laptop, model number 81Y6000DUS. This configuration ships with 8GB DDR4-2933MHz RAM. This configuration uses Lenovo Coldfront Cooling Technology. The Legion 5 15 inch gaming laptop moves where others fear to tread, combining industry-beating thermal efficiency that handles any configuration you can throw at it. Thermally tuned to perfection, the Legion Coldfront 2.0 system cools and dissipates heat via a dual-channel thermal mechanism of 67 liquid crystal polymer-coated fan blades and dedicated copper heat pipes. This will help you leave competition in the dust with the addition of Q Control 3.0, allowing you to manually select between Quiet, Balance and Performance thermal modes. And turn on the thrusters with Dual Burn support, pushing the CPU & GPU together for max performance in-game. If you have questions about customizing the performance of your Legion 5 15, we recommend you consult with a Legion Gaming Expert at Lenovo Ultimate Support: 888-278-9707. Lenovo

This laptop is a beast! Slapped some more ram into it and I love it. Super fast keeps up with all the games I play without a hiccup. I’m using a external ssd for extra storage and thought I made I mistake purchasing this computer but it really is a good value machine!
