Fast and good looking!
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What an amazing laptop. Extremely fast for your day to day web browsing. Keyboard is solid and I love how easy the lid comes open with one hand. Gaming wise this is a superb laptop, my games run smooth and open up fast. Graphics look so good with OLED. My only cons is how hot it gets and speakers could be louder. But I highly recommend this laptop.

Best 14" gaming laptop in 2023
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Perfect mix of hardware in a small package. While it costs a bit more than the Slim Pro 7 it is well worth the extra money. Battery life during normal usage is outstanding, but you better have your power cord with you when you're gaming. Keyboard (which is fantastic) stays comfortably cool while under constant load, and noise stays fairly low considering the hardware. OLED Monitor is top tier, build quality is top notch, only wish it was a standard USB-C charger instead of a normal power brick.

Posted .Hello, JoshG. Thank you for choosing Lenovo! As a tip regarding charging – this Legion Slim 5 features a "MUX switch", which you may be familiar with, but in case not, or for viewers of this post who are curious – this switch allows users to switch between using the discrete graphics card and the integrated processor in the CPU, and for you that means saving. By using the USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port that supports Power Delivery 140, you can use a Type-C charger in place of the included 170W charger, that is intended to give more power for when needed. JoshG, we are pleased to hear that your Slim 5 meets your expectations and needs well. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.

||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This checks about all boxes for me. Fast processor, 16Gb ram, 8Gb Nvidia graphics, 1Tb storage, and to top it off, an OLED display. Can run top games, plenty of storage, excellent keyboard and touchpad. I am impressed, and highly recommend. And, I actually purchased and am using....

||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this laptop for both work and for play. Reviwing as a casual user: Performance wise its really good,I played cpu heavy and gpu heavy games on max settings and the performance was flawless. It also has good battery life which was surprising. I would recommend to an everyday joe who just wants to game and or work.

Great gaming and all purpose laptop!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This might be the best value OLED gaming laptop on the market. The screen, size, and performance are all excellent. The 14.5 screen is a nice balance between portability and screen real estate. The ports on the back are practical as well. The biggest negatives are the soldered ram and proprietary charger, but overall if you can get it for around $1000 it’s hard to beat!

OLED Screen Carries, really great trackpad, +Value
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got it an amazing price, cheaper than Lenovo and it was just a steal. The OLED screen really carries this machine. Everything about the machine has impressed though, especially the trackpad. It feels amazingly smooth and is one of the best laptop trackpads I have ever used. I also think the 14" form factor is much better for someone who is intending to use this more as a laptop/travel and less as a desktop replacement. The build is a mix of metal on the outer shell and very hard, but premium feeling plastic for the keyboard deck. The machine definitely feels premium even though it is going for a more budget oriented price. Combine the great build quality, amazing trackpad, great keyboard with competent hardware and an OLED screen and this is truly an amazing laptop. I know you've probably heard it before, but let me reiterate again (this isn't my first OLED monitor) once you go OLED, you can't go back. Even other even high quality IPS or VA panel looks washed out and really bad in comparison, it's kind of sad. As someone who uses OLED monitors for all my other setups it feels great to finally be completely OLED-equipt now with my laptop. Now for the concerns with this machine, I think there are really only two main ones: a) soldered memory limited to 16GB, and b) maxing at RTX 4060 for the highest level GPU this can be equipped with. Both are valid concerns, which I will address. For a), this is the more prominent of the concerns and I did almost consider paying a premium and getting it form Lenovo instead with 32 GB, since Best Buy does not offer this laptop w/ 32GB RAM. However, I don't particularly think, unless you are a creative professional or power user that 16 GB ram will cause any significant bottleneck. I intend to use the laptop for content consumption, casual computing, and gaming for the next 2-4 years-if your use case is similar I think you will be fine with this model. It's hard to predict the future, but I think it is more likely that you would run into a bottleneck from GPU for in gaming, and this hardware won't likely run into any issues for the other listed uses during that timeframe. However you can make your own decision, and I would recommend doing further research if this is a concern to you. It could be worht the premium of paying $200-$400 more to get the Laptop from Lenovo with 32GB RAM. Now to addressing concern b) if the RTX 4060 is competent enough at the native resolution/for x or y use case? At the native resolution I think it is definitely competent enough hardware wise for modern titles, if you are using DLSS or older titles w/o DLSS. But to note, since the screen is only 14" I think you can easily reduce the render resolution without having a great effect on the visual quality, for even more performance. Now using this as any type of desktop replace, I would stay away from and instead get a laptop with more powerful hardware. But for the laptop, I think it is perfectly fine, should note as well that the laptop 4070 vs laptop 4060 is only 10-20% more performance. I would definitely recommend this laptop to users who are primarily using it as a laptop and not a desktop replacement. The OLED screen and trackpad are amazing, everything worked well out of the box. The keyboard, and Lenovo's included software tuning are also nice.

Sleek beast
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just wanna point out that the only reason I am giving this a 4 and not a 5 stars it’s because the display while it’s gorgeous and you woud spect nothing less from an oled its a bit dim so if you have a lot of ambient light it’s difficult to see dark scenes but on everything else i haven’t seen this beauty drop to 60 fps in any game i have trown on it noted that I am playing at 1440 p or 1080p not 2.5k cuz it draws more power at that point in any case COD runs buttery smooth same with Enshroud which is giving me 79 to 120 fps not bad for a laptop , and its a bit loud under heavy load Ryzen chips have always been known to get hot bet not so hot that you can’t touch it. And I thing Ryzen CPU and Nvidia GPU make a good combo

OLED heaven on the go.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first laptop. I'm usually a desktop gamer but bought this to play on the go. It does not disappoint. I specifically picked this model because of the OLED display. I have turned the resolution down to 1920*1200 for higher frame rates and the games all look and play wonderfully. Another thing I loved was the build quality, I was worried about carrying this thing around with me. After holding it the first time that was no longer a worry. Sturdy but also light weight.

Best Laptop Purchase I Will Ever Make
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the most perfectly balanced build for a laptop I’ve ever seen. It’s as if Lenovo asked “what excess, low-impact features can we trim from typical gaming laptops to create the best bang for buck build ever?”. This is it. No frills, strictly business. Oh, and then they throw that crazy OLED display in. The display is seriously up there with the best and has no business being offered at this price point. I’m amazed. I know it doesn’t have g-sync, windows hello, studio quality speakers, or USB 4, but… why would it? It doesn’t need those things to be great. People need to learn that the bells and whistles don’t matter compared to the meat and potatoes. I blame brands like Apple for tricking consumers into thinking they need every little thing to enjoy a computer. Oh, and with the money I saved over other offerings in this range, I could probably get a g-sync external monitor and some speakers. Maybe even a desk too. Logitech nailed this one.

A solid laptop, with a quirk or two
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Legion is basically Lenovo's answer to the ASUS G14: similar specs, similar price. It has great performance on modern games even at the native resolution, and DLSS helps a lot in that. One big difference: the OLED screen. It's vivid and colorful, but also on this model extremely reflective. If you're in an environment where there's going to be light pouring on the screen and you're doing a lot of productivity, it might be distracting (during games it doesn't really show up). I think that screen and the general form factor would decide whether this is the model for you or you'd prefer the G14 or equivalent.

OLED Rules, full metal body and runs cool
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I biugh this laptop for programming and gaming and watching movies. Its is really nice to type on, it runs cool, and is super portalable. I initally was goong to but the rog zepharus 14 inch but after seeing this in person, this laptop excels because it is oled, the chassis is all metal va the zephurus 14 inch which is has plastic and this Lg runs cooler than the zephurus as well. The 16gb ram is the lenovo is also much faster than the 16gb ram in the rog zephurus by 30%.

Great screen solid build
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pretty great value. Screen's the showstopper, its 5 stars because of that. The only minor issue is the weak speakers. They suck, but since i usually wear headphones, its not a big issue. The metal top and bottom shells make this feel much more premium than its sale price. The trackpad is large and the keyboard is serviceable. Great laptop overall.

Awesome Laptop for the price!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great laptop for the price. This is the first Windows laptop I have purchased with an AMD processor, and I have been thoroughly impressed. This laptop has a beautiful screen and has been able to do any demanding task fluidly! This laptop is even better for the price since the performance you are getting is usually reserved for more expensive laptops!

Great little machine.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great computer with comrpromises. The OLED screen is amazing but the glare can be annoying when your back to facing a light source. I wish the speakers were top-facing but it is sufficient. I wish this had 32gig RAM instead of the 16 for this build. Other than that, when purchasing this on sale, it is a great deal, especially if you are able to get it open box on top of that. It is very portable and stealth. It can get loud (as all 14in laptops would if you are pushing it), but can also be quiet if you use the quiet setting and play on the 780M. Wonderful computer. It has served me well.

Battery performance is solid
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great laptop overall but I want to write specifically about the battery life. There’s a lot of different settings that effect the results. Screen refresh rate impacts battery life greatly so I keep it on 60 on battery (There’s a setting in vantage that automates this for 80% of scenarios). Another vantage setting is the option to completely disable the dedicated gpu and use the integrated one only when on battery. I find the “ quiet mode” in vantage however does not improve battery life; maybe because its running hotter. I can get around 6.5-8 hours on power saving (win setting) balanced (vantage) 60 hz igpu no backlit steaming on wifi with bluetooth enabled, depending on how bright I set it

Nice portable laptop with a bright screen
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a neat lityle laptop; portable and light, while allowing for charging via either the provided proprietary charger or USB-C Power Delivery. The OLED screen is certainly bright and crisp. While I enjoy the laptop, perhaps it is in the software or in specific hardware where I have an issue. Loading screens for games and the Windows log-in process seem to last atypically long. I don't think there was a lot of bloatware installed, just a few Lenovo apps which were easy enough to remove, so I'm not sure where to pinpoint the issue. One thing I do also appreciate is the wifi connectivity - in my living room, where my phone maxes out at around 200mbps to download data, this computer easily manages the full bandwidth of my Internet connection, which is around 300mbps. I am not sure about the built-in microphone - often, I am told by others that they have difficulty hearing me. I have to use a headset to provide clarity. Overall, I think this is a good buy, especially when it is on sale (which seems to happen regularly) but there are a few quirks which should be considered about the hardware alongside what Lenovo does well.
