Customers are impressed with the Legion Slim 5's performance and graphics capabilities, frequently praising its smooth operation and excellent visuals. Many appreciate the build quality and the option to upgrade RAM, although some find the battery life and weight to be shortcomings. The screen is generally well-received, but the relatively small storage capacity and occasional fan noise are common points of concern.

I was looking for a great gaming and daily driving laptop my expectations were exceeded after about a week of getting to know the thing. Its was easily able to handle horizon 5 on max graphics for extended gameplay while connected to a monitor. Ive also had zoom meetings running while playing.

I am absolutely stunned by the performance of this laptop. The speed is incredible at this price point. Sleek, thin great looking with awesome color changing keyboard. Battery life is extremly impressive. Graphics for gaming is also extremely nice with most highly taxing games running at impressive fps. Especially again at this price point. I haven't yet found a negative i can say about it. I am completely satisfied with it.

This is my third Lenovo laptop I purchased for my family. Like AMD based computers more than Intel ones for one reason or the other. The build quality of this laptop is very good, still do not understand why in order to access to the memory and disk compartments I need to have special tools. 10 years ago most laptops would require to take one or two screws to change those parts. If you charge $1500 for a laptop, this must be made easier for the owners. My second issue with this model is the Windows Home edition! Seriously? Pro version should be the primary edition for a laptop of this caliber, as no one would buy it as an entertainment center, this is geared more for gaming and business. It weighs a ton and is likely going to be sitting on a desk than lap. My third issue with this was warranty which was triggered before I had it purchased! Either I was given a refurbished unit, or the system was activated in the factory and never reset. It was bizarre to even see it. You open a sealed box and expect everything to be shiny new. You fire up the system for the first time to find out that warranty period had started near 6 months prior to purchasing date! What the...? Best Buy left me deal with it on my own, even after two contacts with their Customer Support. Took care of it in the end, and the warranty period was reset directly by Lenovo Support. Something is not kosher here, and I will think twice before purchasing Lenovo products at Best Buy.

Hi, EddieG. We are sorry to hear that your experience with your Legion Slim 5 was subpar for you. To touch on some of the points you shared; first, regarding removing the bottom panel of the device. This is done for reasons that include detouring improper service of the device, tampering by unauthorized persons, and more. Also, most consumer devices, gaming PCs included, ship with Windows 11 Home. We recommend those in search of a specific version of Windows ensure that a device has it preinstalled before purchasing to prevent dissatisfaction. With the warranty period, this is also a decision that is made intentionally for a few reasons. We hear your frustration and apologize for any inconvenience. We appreciate you taking the time to share your review with us. Lenovo

The computer works well, it has a fast processing time and good graphics to go with it. Only issues so far are the small storage which I got an ssd to help with and a shorter battery time for when I’m out and about.

I purchased a Lenovo LOQ 15APH8 before this, and the jump in quality build is significant. The keyboard feels a lot smoother to type on, the display is nice and crisp. Opening the laptop to upgrade the RAM and add another SSD is a lot easier as well. The only downside I’ve noticed is the Legion Slim seems to run hotter, especially around the arrows/keypad areas, and I’ll have to keep an eye on that with further use. Otherwise, I’d highly recommend this laptop!

5 stars when you can get this on sale.. amazing for the price.. Best balance of screen quality, GPU, memory, CPU and overall quality of the unit. Runs cool and mostly silent, no annoying fan frequencies/tones. About 7+ hours of battery life too and charges back to 100% in 45 minutes!!

Excellent Lenovo laptop, but quite not what I was looking for Deal breakers: - I underestimated how much I care about the weight and dimensions of a laptop. I did not see myself getting used to this any time soon. - Most useful ports are on the back side. I was intending to use this laptop as my portable one, moving it every day, and the backside design makes it hard to reach out for ports. I frequently work with multiple usb devices but there are two C ports on the left while the A ports (the rectangular ones) are on the back. This was very cumbersome for me as I use usb A 90% of the time. It should have been a mix (1 C & 1 A for both left and back). HDMI and power being at the back was too unacceptable. This "Slim" laptop is almost an inch thick and 5 pounds. Used it for 1 day However, there are other great aspects that I must note: - The screen is very bright, despite it being listed as 350 nits. I was surprised - Screen is colorful, and bezels are slim. HDR content was as advertised. - Keyboard lighting is pleasant to see, but it would be better if the keys themselves were shine through - Cooling is flawless, thanks to its thick chassis and number of heat pipes - An ethernet port is crucial if you need high speed downloads (a rare port I would say) - A full sized sd card slot. I never work with sd cards (only micro sds), but I respect the decisions because I know some friends who work with full size sd cards. - The laptop is very repair friendly and future proof, with 2 m.2 nvme slots and 2 RAM slots, with potential future bios updates allowing higher ram speeds. Overall, it is a great workstation laptop. It definitely excels in its field Nitpicks other than dimensions and weight: - touchpad is a little small. It looks a little bigger in screen. Nonetheless it is responsive. - the spacebar is curved. There is a slight curve to it that takes some time to get used to. This is personal preference I believe.

I purchased this Laptop open box and I have to say it outperforms its cost. With a few upgrades such as 32gb of ram and a 2tb ssd i am in love. I do wish for more performance bu5 honestly do ypu need more than 60 to 80 frames on AAA titles? It runs extremely cool not seeing anything past 80c at max load. It hasnt let me down and I hope it keeps that up. Dont buy the ryzen 5 version buy the ryzen 7 it is a great cpu and does not bottleneck. The hardware on this laptop is exceptional for the price.

This is my entry into PC gaming, and I can’t complain too much. The 4060 is a bit nerfed compared to the desktop version, but it and the CPU manage just about every game I run fine. Overheating hasn’t been a concern so far, and the keyboard isn’t terrible. Biggest thing that worries me so far is that sometimes upon turning on, the screen will be completely black or it’ll be completely white with just the cursor visible. The laptop also comes with a bit of bloatware that I’m not smart enough to cleanse. Overall, seems like great value for the $1,000ish range, but obviously not perfect.

performance is good can't complain about it i'm able to run most of my games in max settings. The screen is a 50/50 good colors an size but is not super bright. Speakers are mediocre honestly sounds normal but they are really quiet the fans on max speed sounds more than any music you can put on it. Lenovo software is not intrusive and it really helps you tune here and there. I expecter more from a laptop that is over 1000 dollars.

Great laptop so far. I needed a new laptop to be able to play games with my son who lives across the country since my old laptop could not even load many of them. This thing handles every game I have tried with ease. I also started using it to edit and render 4K video. It is fast, works great with Davinci Resolve. Fans are loud when it is doing serious work. No issues so far.

I was looking for a solid gaming PC on a budget to replace one I bought in 2017. The Legion Slim 5 delivers on everything I was looking for in the price range. Solid specs. Doesn't overheat. Super portable. I don't mind the battery life because I almost always plug it in. I wish it had more than 2 USB ports, but USB hubs are inexpensive. Super happy with the purchase!

Loving this computer! The fan is a little loud when i get into high graphics games but it doesnt really bother me because I wear heaphones. Processing is pretty fast and capable of very high graphics without lag. (I havent tried to overclock or hit max graphics because I dont need it). Refresh rate on the screen is great as well!

The Legion line of laptops is very good, the initial look of the laptop doesn’t scream “gamer” and can most likely be used in places where people are using MacBooks, but you’ll need to plug your laptop in. On a Best Buy sale, this is an excellent value. The keyboard is easy to type on and they fit in a numeric keypad, which is rare to see these days, thanks Apple. The screen is beautiful at 165hz refresh rate, and can be lowered for performance. Downloading through WiFi was fast and easy to connect. Gaming is fun with the big screen and the RTX 4060 can handle more than you need, but get ready to hear fans. It is possible to minimize fan noise by choosing a lowered refresh rate, resolution, and frame rate, and you can almost have a silent fan if you make enough sacrifice. My only real gripe, and eventually became a deal breaker for me was the built in speakers, yes you can use headphones or add external speakers but this has to be the worst speakers I’ve ever had in all my laptops. At 100%, when video chatting, you can still barely hear the other person. My MacBook Air, iPad, asus G14…they all have far superior sound. Just when comparing to some of the competition, this fails badly on the speakers. If that’s not an issue for you then getting this on sale is a great bargain

Performance wise, this laptop does pretty good in any game. The setup was easy and the quality of the laptop is decent. I will not give this 5 stars because the noise level of the fans are pretty loud and I can hear them through my headphones. I would do quiet mode but it reduces performance in games. Overall the laptop is very good for its price.

For the right use case, this is an amazing laptop. For many others, (including me) it just doesn't meet my needs. As a desktop replacement, it's fantastic, if a bit loud. But as soon as you want to take advantage of mobility, it starts falling flat. The battery life is middling, and the power brick weights nearly as much as the loptop itself. (Yes, it's a real brick.)

My unfortunate experience: I ended up having to purchase 2 separate units due to faulty hardware reasons. The first was a total disaster, despite it being labeled a "Excellent - Condition" openbox unit. As soon as the screen turned on, it started flickering as if it was partying at a rave. The 2nd openbox unit was fantastic - initially... After about week 3, it started having artifacting in games. This was also an openbox unit. Review of product itself: My problems aside, the laptop was everything I thought it was supposed to be. The screen is exceptionally vivid & bright in mid-dark lighted rooms. The keyboard was great, the mouse track was also very smooth. Handled a good array of games I threw at it up until the artifacting problem began. If you can get a fully working unit with no issues, I think you have yourself a BARGAIN. When it comes to bestbuys "Excellent - Condition" label, I would say it holds true to the PHYSICAL condition of the item, but not the internal hardware. They need to test their items better. Conclusion; So after 2 returns, I'm done with this product. Ended up just picking up a prebuilt desktop, that has given me 0 issues.
