Screen Holds it Back, but Great When on a Budget

Lenovo Legions are usually always pretty great. The keyboard is nice and has a satisfying clickyness to them and has the right amount of space in between keys that it does not feel crowded. The touchpad is serviceable. It not going to win awards, but it is large and doesn't make you wish you had a mouse when you do basic stuff online. Performance is great (for the price). The 4060 has a base 60W TDP according to CPU-Z, but the Legion software allows you to overclock it a bit. Fast DDR5 RAM is already installed (8x8), so its running in quad-channel out of the box. The 7640HS performs great for games. Cooling is great on this thing, it got loud underload/playing games; but it does not get as loud as the ASUS G16. Battery life is quite surprising despite the smaller size when compared to competitors, got around 4-7 hours on it. BUT, the screen is just terrible. Colors are really washed out. Granted you can help alleviate it by tweaking the display settings in the AMD software app, but that can only do so much (especially for the reds). Due to my work, I needed something a bit more color accurate, so I had to return it. All in all, I would recommend it when you are on a budget. When on sale, this laptop is great for those on a budget; since the screen is the only thing that is really holding it back. But if you need something with better color accuracy, the other Legion Slim 5 (the one with the Ryzen 7) is better since it also has the better and upgraded screen.

Great laptop. I work remotely so this perfect for what i need. Runs multiple programs with zero issues. Gaming is great. Im not a hard core gamer but this runs and looks great on everything i play. Love the fact that this has USB Type C ports on it! The only that prevented this from getting 5 stars is the battery life. Running now games and just web browsing, the battery last around 4 hours. I heard of things that you can do to extend it but the fact out of the box it only lasts around 4 hours sucks. Overall great laptop!

Good laptop overall with some good hardware. RAM and Storage are super easy to upgrade. The RTX 4060 is matched very well to 1200p resolution and a lot of the time you can get away with 1050p and not even notice if you want to push more frames. The upgraded model has a 1600p screen that may be just a little much for the gpu. That being said, this model has the “lower spec” screen by color accuracy standards- don’t let that fool you into thinking this screen sucks, it is definitely adequate and still has decent brightness and color. I haven’t noticed it being just simply terrible compared to the OLED that I’m used to on my other system. Lenovos software allows for more power customization than other brands do. I like the ability to set power limits when plugged in vs battery. Be prepared to tweak some stuff on this laptop, even this Ryzen 5 can run a little warm but out of the box I’d say it’s about 85% the way there. I enjoy the ability to customize things but you may not, so this is a plus for me. Also battery life can be quite good- I’ve managed to get it to around 10-11hrs on normal browsing, doc and office use with a 70% screen brightness. Overall good buy on open box and you can use the money you save on added storage and ram.

This is a great gaming laptop to replace my PC. It runs games smoothly, the colors are bright and the sound is amazing! I like the size of the screen and keyboard. I don't feel the need for an external monitor or keyboard. The battery life is about 2hrs without making adjustments but I bought it to game at home.

Bought it when it was on sale for around 900 and I gotta say its def worth its value. Runs most games I throw at it at a stable 60+ fps at high to maxed settings (depends on the game) Ofc it can go to way higher fps but I personally am okay with just 60 SSD space is a lil on the small side but upgradeable ofc, so can't really complain too much. Overall, really happy with this purchase

Bought at around 1k total, the cheapest RTX laptop I could find in December 2023. During a move, I used this in place of a desktop with a 3070ti in it. It worked so well I continued using the laptop well past when I already had my desktop ready to go at my new home. The only change I made was the addition of a 2TB SSD, which was a simple installation. I played halo infinite, fortnite, Sea of Thieves easily on high settings and took advantage of the high refresh rate on each, all at least hitting 60 FPS, and able to go higher with medium settings/lower. More CPU intensive games like Dwarf Fortress worked just fine too when generating worlds. Never tried VR on it (yet) but it certainly would be capable of midrange VR gaming with an Index or similar. Keyboard is perfectly fine, audio isn't incredible but for a laptop it works well. Keyboard LEDs look nicer in person than in the promotional screenshots. Also - a big plus for some-, it doesn't look too flashy and blends in well with office laptops. At 1000, it would be very hard to beat this thing at time of writing. If you're buying at 1300 or more, I'd look around first for better deals.

This laptop has been great, and I don’t regret my purchase. Runs everything I’ve put to the test, does get a bit warm during gaming session. I do plan on getting a cooler, but I’ve had it for months and love it.

Purchased this to replace my old gaming laptop. I am pleasantly impressed with the performance of this laptop with the 4060. Suprisingly enough, I get fairly high framerates on games like COD and Overwatch, even with some games having the ability to be locked on 144 frames with no drops. Highly recommended for newer PC gamers as this thing just turns on and goes.

I was a little worried at first about going for the AMD Ryzen 5 7000 series vs i7 or even i5. However, the per-core and combined core benchmark actually is right between i5 and i7. This is a great value, especially for $899. I upgraded the RAM to 32 GB (16 x 2) and added another 1 TB SSD for less than $200. I am a non-gamer and was looking for a workhorse laptop for productivity apps and movies.
